The corridor split again.
Not in structure.
In choice.
One side— Chaos. Fists. Blood. The sound of a fight being lost.
The other— A door. Half open. Waiting.
Evan didn't stop. He ran.
Each step felt wrong.
Like betrayal.
Like he was leaving something behind he shouldn't.
"Noah…"
The name slipped out under his breath.
Behind him...
A thud.
A hit.
A body against concrete.
He almost turned.
Almost.
But then...
A weaker sound. "…Evan…"
He froze.
That voice...Rhea.
Evan turned sharply and rushed into the room.
It was smaller than he expected.
Rhea sat on the floor, her hands tied behind her back, her body slumped slightly to one side like it had given up holding itself together.
"Rhea"
She looked up.
And the moment she saw him...
Something inside her broke.
"Evan…"
Her voice trembled.
Not just from fear.
From relief.
He rushed to her, dropping to his knees beside her.
"It's okay. I'm here. I'm here."
His hands moved quickly, trying to untie the restraints, fingers shaking more than they should.
"You shouldn't have come…" she whispered.
Evan let out a breath that almost sounded like a laugh.
"Yeah," he said softly. "I get that a lot."
The knot loosened.
Finally.
Her hands fell free.
But she didn't move.
Didn't stand.
Instead...
She grabbed his sleeve.
Tightly.
"Evan…"
Something in her voice made him stop.
Look at her.
Her eyes were filled with something deeper than fear.
Something shattered.
"It's him," she whispered.
Evan's chest tightened.
"I know."
She shook her head weakly.
"No… you don't."
Her grip tightened.
"He's not just… doing this."
A breath.
"He is this."
Evan didn't respond.
Because somewhere deep down...He already knew.
"But…" her voice broke.
Evan looked at her.
"He wasn't always like this," she said.
Silence.
"He used to" she stopped, her lips trembling. "He used to look at me like I mattered."
The words hung there.
Fragile.
Painful.
Evan's hands stilled.
Silence filled the room again.
But this time...
It wasn't empty.
It was full of everything she had lost.
A loud crash echoed from outside.
Both of them flinched.
Noah.
Evan stood immediately.
"We have to go."
Rhea shook her head weakly.
"I can't"
"Yes, you can," Evan said firmly.
He helped her up.
Slowly.
Carefully.
She leaned into him, her weight uneven, her steps unsteady.
Another hit echoed.
Closer this time.
Evan's jaw tightened.
"Come on."
They moved toward the door.
But just before stepping out Rhea stopped.
Evan turned.
"What is it?"
She looked past him.
Through him.
"…Don't let him die."
The words were quiet.
But they carried everything.
Evan's chest tightened.
"He's not going to," he said.
But his voice didn't fully believe it.
Because outside the fight had changed, aqnd not in their favor.
Back in the corridor
Noah struggled to stay on his feet.
His vision blurred.
His breathing uneven.
Every part of his body screaming to stop.
But he didn't.
Because in front of him Kai stood untouched.
Calm.
Composed.
"You're slowing down," Kai said.
Noah wiped the blood from his lip.
Forced a breath.
"Still standing," he muttered.
Kai tilted his head.
"For how long?"
Noah didn't answer.
He moved first.
Again.
But this time
His body was slower.
Kai saw it.
And ended it.
One strike.
Clean.
Precise.
Noah dropped to one knee.
Another.
He hit the ground.
Didn't get up.
Kai walked toward him.
Unhurried.
"Noah…"
The name wasn't mocking.
Wasn't angry.
It was almost…
Quiet.
Noah forced his eyes open.
"…Yeah?" he managed.
Kai stopped in front of him.
"You should've walked away."
Noah let out a weak breath.
"And let you keep doing this?"
A pause.
"No," he whispered.
Kai looked down at him.
For a moment, Something flickered again.
Then....Gone.
He raised his hand.
Ready to end it.
And just then.. Footsteps.
Fast. Desperate.
"NOAH—!"
Evan.
With Rhea.
Kai didn't turn.
But he smiled.
Because the game...
Was finally reaching its end.
