As he spoke, Jason patted the hood of the car behind him.
A Brilliance BMW 320.
It was pretty old—a hand-me-down from his dad.
But so what? It was still a BMW.
"My dad's company is worth over fifteen million and operates throughout the state. I get to drive a BMW right after graduation and have the ability to buy a house outright. With these credentials, what does Scarlet Hayes have to complain about?"
"Well, nobody said she has to like you!" Chloe rolled her eyes. This guy was so insufferable. His mindset wasn't much better than Tyler's.
"Look, I'm guessing Scarlet temporarily met some hot guy and got blinded by his looks. Once she actually enters the real world and gets beaten down by it for two or three years, she'll realize how wrong her choice was—that she shouldn't have casually given away her precious first time..."
Just as Jason was rambling on and on, a brand-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class smoothly pulled into the parking spot next to them.
It parked slightly crooked but was done in one swift, stylish motion.
Then the car door opened, and Scarlet stepped out in heels, clutching a box of tissues given by the dealership, and tossed it straight at Jason.
The tissue box hit Jason square in the face. Since it was a hard cardboard box with sharp edges, Jason yelped in pain.
"Where the hell did this idiot come from? Who I choose to be with, or who I give my first time to—what the fuck does that have to do with you?"
Scarlet walked over assertively, pointing right at Jason's nose. "You're just some stray dog on the side of the road. Usually when you bark, I can't be bothered to pay attention, but now you're pushing your luck and trying to disrupt my normal life? Get lost!"
Jason shrank back, thoroughly scolded.
After all, for a woman to maintain her integrity in a car dealership sales position—never even being taken advantage of—it was impossible without a fierce personality.
Gentleness was reserved for her man.
To deal with a scumbag like him, you had to hit hard.
Jason, stunned by Scarlet's presence, took a while to snap back, saying in disbelief, "Scarlet, you... you dare to hit me?"
"I'm hitting you to teach you a lesson! Stay far away from me from now on. If you harass me again, I'll hit you every single time!"
"Heh, you poor hick from some rural town out of state—who gave you the nerve to act so wild? You think I can't pull some strings and make it so you can't even graduate?"
Seeing that Scarlet gave him zero respect, Jason's defenses crumbled. He completely tore off his facade, even starting to threaten her coldy.
Scarlet, however, was completely unfazed, sneering, "Who the hell do you think you are? Having a bit of dirty money makes you impressive? Driving a beat-up used BMW, acting like your shit doesn't stink. You really think you're somebody important?"
As she spoke, Scarlet raised the Louis Vuitton handbag in her hand and shook it in front of him. "Your car—if you sold it right now—wouldn't even buy this bag!"
"Haha, you're delusional..."
The smile on Jason's face suddenly froze because, upon closer inspection, he found the bag somewhat familiar.
Immediately, he recalled some Instagram model mentioning this exact bag when he was flirting at a bar last month.
Later, Jason had taken that girl out shopping, and she'd even dragged him to a Louis Vuitton counter to look at it.
It was exactly the same as the one in front of him.
Jason's first reaction was: Knockoff. It's gotta be fake.
However, then he looked at the clothes Scarlet was wearing.
A complete Chanel outfit—and all very well-designed pieces, not the basic models college girls buy just to save face.
His heart immediately sank.
Could it be that the boyfriend Scarlet found is actually loaded?
Immediately after, Scarlet pointed to the Mercedes behind her. "Including this car—my boyfriend bought it for me."
"Haha, bought you a car? I bet it's a company car, temporarily lent to you," Jason still insisted stubbornly.
"Don't believe me? Come on, let me show you how real rich guys treat their girls!"
Scarlet pulled out the vehicle registration from the car. Her name was clearly written on the ownership certificate.
When the registration was thrown in Jason's face, his expression completely darkened.
Now he had no choice but to believe it!
Jason's heart filled with extreme shock. No way. What kind of move is this?
A forty-five-thousand-dollar car, bought just like that.
Scarlet had been single before, so this relationship couldn't have been going on long.
Car, clothes, bag.
Just this setup alone cost over a hundred grand.
It was no wonder spending money this aggressively could attract a girl.
If Jason secretly took his parents' money to pull something like that, he'd probably get beaten to death.
Right now, Jason's face was rapidly changing colors—a mix of frustration and jealousy.
Gritting his teeth, he said, "Tch, Scarlet Hayes, I really didn't misjudge you. You're just a gold-digging bitch. The reason you didn't pay attention to me was entirely because I wasn't rich enough!"
"So what?"
What Jason never expected was that Scarlet was completely unfazed by his harsh words. She candidly said, "Yeah, I'm a gold-digger, but I'm devoted as hell to my man. I don't mess around, don't cheat, and don't string people along. But you, Jason? You think I don't know? You flirt with girls in the student union and hit up bars to pick up chicks. I think you're the real slut!"
"..."
"Don't ever show your face in front of me again. I'm not interested in you."
"Your precious BMW doesn't even compare to the car my boyfriend casually bought me for daily use."
"If you keep bothering me, my boyfriend won't just stand by, you know. His temper is way worse than mine."
After speaking, Scarlet no longer paid Jason any attention, turning gracefully and getting into the car.
Jason's face turned pale, but he didn't dare retort at all.
Scarlet's words reminded him of something crucial.
A guy with that kind of financial power would naturally have serious influence behind him.
Maybe with just a flick of his finger, Jason's family business would be affected.
Realizing this, Jason immediately withered, cold sweat breaking out on his back.
The thought of retaliating against Scarlet—which had just sprouted in his mind—quickly extinguished, and he didn't dare act rashly again.
Are you kidding? Losing the family business over a girl isn't worth it!
You could even say Scarlet choosing to let him off the hook—instead of having her man deal with Jason—was already giving him tons of face.
Compared to a real magnate, Jason was just a small fry.
Assets of fifteen million sounded impressive.
In reality, some estimated that for traditional business owners with fifteen million in assets, their annual income was mostly between one hundred fifty to four hundred fifty thousand dollars.
Compared to ordinary wage earners, it was certainly much stronger.
The problem was, Scarlet's boyfriend had spent over a hundred grand on her right after they started dating.
And a business owner's annual income also had to account for maintaining social connections, living expenses, kids' education investments... After deducting all that, there wasn't much disposable cash to spend freely.
In short, Scarlet's boyfriend was someone Jason couldn't defeat even if he tried his absolute hardest!
"Damn it, I thought I was the best among her suitors. Who knew it would suddenly..."
Meanwhile, Chloe also quickly followed, getting into Scarlet's car.
The engine started, slowly and steadily pulling out of campus.
"Phew..."
Scarlet let out a long sigh of relief. After calming down, she returned to her usual warm, lively self.
"Sorry you had to see that, Chloe. I'll treat you to dinner tonight. Pick any good spot near campus!"
"Thank you, Scarlet!" Chloe said happily, then showed an admiring expression. "You were so badass just now—so cool! If it were me getting harassed by a persistent creep like Jason, I wouldn't know what to do."
"Ugh, that guy is seriously annoying. He's got some money from his family, and he's involved in student government, so he knows how to suck up to professors... If it were an ordinary girl with no backing, it would be genuinely troublesome."
Scarlet analyzed, then a happy expression crossed her face. "Fortunately, I have an amazing boyfriend. He's my confidence."
