Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: The Hospitable Hall Master Hu

Today is a good day.

After the banquet where they ate until they were stuffed, the next day Cid took little Eula, deployed his Wind Glider, and used the updrafts to fly all the way to Liyue Harbor with her in tow.

Little Hu Tao, here I come!

Using wind rings to accelerate, Cid held little Eula's hand and flew rapidly at the cost of high elemental expenditure.

In the afternoon, he settled the contract issues with Ningguang and the large fund transfer at the Adventurers' Guild.

Though he didn't even see Ningguang in person along the way, the later Ningguang could just sign afterward.

And just like that, old uncle changed back into the clothes little Hu Tao had given him and set off on the road back to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

Little Eula, meanwhile, was in her normal attire and didn't wear that formal dress.

Hey hey! Little Hu Tao, did you miss me!?

Cid the old uncle pushed open the grand doors of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

What greeted him was neither the old Hall Master Hu nor little Hu Tao, but a middle-aged man with plum-blossom pupils.

Oh, if I'm not mistaken, this is Hu Tao's dad.

Though it was a bit rude, Cid the old uncle's very first thought was indeed…

So Hu Tao's dad isn't dead yet.

"Young man, what business do you have at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor?"

Unlike little Hu Tao's mischievous prankster nature, Hall Master Hu gave Cid a somewhat serious impression.

But looking at the unfinished building blocks on the table…

Good grief, quite the childlike heart. Truly, one family doesn't produce two kinds of people.

"I'm Cid Kagerou. Some time ago when I came to Liyue, I received care from Hu Tao and the old Hall Master."

Hall Master Hu's expression instantly became enthusiastic. "So it's Cid! After I returned, my Hu Tao kept mentioning you often."

Feeling the warm welcome from an elder, Cid relaxed a bit after sensing the familiar feeling. "Hey! That's great then. By the way, where did little Hu Tao and the old Hall Master go?"

Hall Master Hu invited Cid to sit beside the table, put away the children's toy he had just been assembling, and began brewing tea.

"They went with Guest Consultant Zhongli to watch a new play at the Yun-Han Society. I hear it's a brand-new production."

"Little Hu Tao can sit through that?" Cid was slightly surprised. Though opera is wonderful, little Hu Tao watching it…

"Yun-Han Society plays—judging from that, little brother Cid, you probably haven't seen them. The stories they tell are understandable even to children, and with my dad and Guest Consultant Zhongli both there, there definitely won't be any issues."

Mm, true. You have to trust old man Zhongli's capabilities.

No one would actually believe old man Zhongli can't handle little Hu Tao, right?

That's Rex Lapis! If he says so, there must be some profound meaning!

"Speaking of which, who is this young lady beside you?" Hall Master Hu asked, looking at little Eula.

"Eula Lawrence, extending my greetings to you." Little Eula performed the etiquette prescribed by Lawrence family rules.

"Lawrence?" Hall Master Hu had clearly heard the surname before.

Little Eula's expression became somewhat uncomfortable, but Cid the old uncle jumped in first to defuse the situation. "Yes, the descendants of sinners from Mondstadt, the Lawrence family. But little Eula is a very good child—she's just a bit lost right now."

Hall Master Hu looked at little Eula and revealed a kind smile. "Mm, I believe she's a good child too."

Little Eula, stared at by two adults with auntie-like smiles, felt a bit shy but didn't want to run away, so she could only sit stiffly in her seat with a red face.

Cid felt that was enough and changed the topic. "Speaking of which, how much longer until little Hu Tao and the others return? If it'll be a while, I was planning to stay at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor for a few days and leave after the Rite of Descension. Is that okay?"

Hall Master Hu agreed immediately. "No problem at all. Little brother Cid, you might not know this, but my dad really likes you, so the room you used before has been kept for you. And during regular cleaning, we've even tidied your room along the way."

After saying this, as if afraid Cid would change his mind, the hospitable Hall Master Hu directly led Cid to the room he had stayed in before.
