Long Tian reached his destination and looked up at the majestic estate before him—Ice Snow Estate.
Just as he was about to enter, a middle-aged security guard stepped forward and blocked his path.
"Who are you?" the guard asked, eyeing him suspiciously. "You're a new face. Who are you here to see?"
Long Tian was taken aback. He hadn't expected this at all. The last time he came, he had been accompanied by Meng Lingxue's grandfather and had encountered no obstruction.
"Ahem… well, I'm going to my house," Long Tian replied.
The security guard raised an eyebrow. "Then where is your estate pass?"
Long Tian froze.
Estate pass? What was that?
Seeing the clueless expression on Long Tian's face, the guard sneered, already reaching a conclusion.
"Young man, I've seen hundreds like you," he said coldly. "People who try to sneak in by lying. You'd better leave now before I beat you up or call the police."
Long Tian felt helpless. In just a few words, he had been branded a liar.
"Well… technically," Long Tian scratched his head, "I'm going to my wife's house. This is just my second time coming here."
When Long Tian saw the security guard's expression, he knew his words weren't believed.
He sighed. What kind of luck had he been having since he arrived here?
"Well, we can still help you confirm with your wife. What's her estate number?" the security guard asked.
"000," Long Tian replied.
Then he was surprised when the security guard became angry.
"Young man, you are really playing with me," the security guard said in anger, baffling Long Tian.
The security guard took a baton, planning to use it to beat Long Tian.
This drew a lot of commotion as those walking out of the estate saw them.
"Do you think you can trick me? That estate number—even the owner of the estate fears and reveres that person. How can your wife live there?"
The security snapped in anger.
Long Tian was confused; he was certain that was the estate number he saw in Meng Lingxue's villa.
"Why don't you try to call to confirm if I am lying or not?" Long Tian proposed.
When the security guard heard this, he snickered. He wondered how Long Tian would be humiliated; he didn't think that this ordinary-looking man would be related to someone who stayed in such a place.
The security guard entered the building and retrieved a phone, then called.
Meanwhile, at Estate Villa No. 1, the ringing of the telephone sounded shrill.
A middle-aged woman dressed in a maid's outfit answered the call.
Seeing that someone had picked up, the security guard spoke.
"Sorry for the disturbance, ma'am. I am from the estate security team. I just want to confirm something. May I go ahead?"
"Sure, you can," a middle-aged woman's voice came through.
Long Tian could hear it and wondered why it was a middle-aged voice, nothing like Meng Lingxue's.
The security guard explained what had happened and asked whether Long Tian's words were true.
The middle-aged maid shook her head when she heard it.
She knew her young miss well; there was no way she would marry so casually. She assumed it was another lie, a prank by one of her suitors trying to get close to her.
She told the security guard that it was false and that no one living there was married.
The security guard apologized for the disturbance, though his eyes were filled with anger. Long Tian wondered if he was being abandoned.
He wanted to say his wife's name, but remembering the clause in the marriage contract that their relationship must not be exposed; he calmed himself.
At this moment, another security guard entered, who asked what was happening.
The middle-aged security guard explained everything to the other security guard; the crowd that gathered heard everything.
Even though Long Tian's clothes had been changed, they were still ordinary, not expensive ones that those who live in the estate wear.
Long Tian stood there in silence as murmurs spread through the crowd.
Some shook their heads. Some sneered and ridiculed.
To them, he was nothing more than another liar exposed.
Long Tian clenched his fist, slowly relaxing it; he didn't know what to do as he was held down by the marriage contract clause.
Meanwhile, at the Estate Villa '000'.
The middle-aged maid shook her head as she dropped the telephone.
"Who called?" A young female voice resounded. Meng Lingxue came down the stairs with a laptop in her hand.
"Young Miss, sorry for the disturbance. It was the security guards. A young man was claiming that his wife lives in our villa," the middle-aged maid explained.
"Really?" Meng Lingxue lifted her gaze from the laptop. "Have you prepared the room I asked you to?"
The middle-aged maid was confused but nodded.
"Prepare for the arrival of that young man," Meng Lingxue ordered.
The maid was shocked by her words. From her young miss's reaction, it seemed that the young man's words were true.
Did that mean her young miss had finally married?
Meng Lingxue noticed the change in the maid's expression. "What happened?"
The maid recounted everything that had occurred.
Meng Lingxue frowned. "Call them back and tell them to let him in."
"Yes, Young Miss."
The middle-aged maid immediately tried calling back, but there was no answer—even after five attempts.
Back at the gate of the estate, the security guards were chasing Long Tian.
As for the telephone, it was kept inside the security's room. The commotion and noise overshadowed the ringtone of the microphone.
Long Tian could hear it but when he wanted to talk, he would be cut off by the security guards.
They wanted to drag him away but with his immense strength, he didn't move an inch.
Seeing that this was becoming a humiliating scene with the crowd that was gathering, looking at him in disdain and arrogance.
He planned on leaving.
At this moment, a familiar young lady's voice silenced the commotion.
