Chapter 9 - You Foolish King

Hearing this familiar voice, Lin Que's face turned ashen as if he'd seen a ghost. He shot to his feet so abruptly that he knocked over the chair behind him.

"Holy crap! Ye... Ye Wanwan!!"

How was this possible?

"Did you get plastic surgery!?" Lin Que gaped at her, dumbfounded.

But wait, that didn't add up. Plastic surgery couldn't work this fast. Just a few days ago, she'd still looked like a total mess.

Ye Wanwan was so furious she could explode. "You're the one who got plastic surgery! This is what I really look like! And what do you mean I'm fat—spit it out clearly!"

A fleeting look of daze crossed Si Yehan's usually lazy and vacant face.

At this moment, two little flames seemed to be burning in the girl's eyes—bright and vivid, a sight he hadn't seen in ages.

In the middle of her rage, Ye Wanwan suddenly felt a cool palm slowly rest on the top of her head. It gently rubbed her hair, like someone soothing a ruffled little beast.

At the same time, a melodious voice drifted softly into her ear: "Not fat."

Ye Wanwan froze, staring at Si Yehan in shock.

Was she losing her mind? She'd actually thought Si Yehan was being... gentle... right now?

When she finally snapped out of it, she realized she'd gotten way too worked up. She mumbled awkwardly, "I'm not fat now... anyway."

Si Yehan: "You weren't fat before, either."

Lin Que immediately put on a serious face. "Ninth Brother, say that again with your hand on your conscience!"

Ye Wanwan gritted her teeth, seething with anger.

Si Yehan's gaze drifted unhurriedly to Lin Que. "I've already given the plot of land east of the city to Yuanda Group."

Lin Que's jaw dropped. "What? That's not fair, Ninth Brother! You promised it to me! Why'd you give it to another company? Did you really hand it over to Yuanda, or did you just decide to do it this second?"

Si Yehan: "Just now."

Lin Que: "..."

Damn it! Was this punishment just because he'd said Ye Wanwan was fat?

"You... you tyrant!" Lin Que gasped, choking on his rage.

But instead of refuting it, Si Yehan actually seemed quite pleased with the title. He said expressionlessly, "You should leave now. You're in the way."

Not only a tyrant, but also a lovesick fool who valued his girl over his friend—he actually thought he was in the way!

Lin Que's heart shattered into a million pieces. He fled the room, tears streaming down his face.

Once Lin Que was gone, only Ye Wanwan and Si Yehan were left in the living room.

It had been easy to relax with Lin Que around, but the moment he left, Ye Wanwan's previously relaxed nerves tensed up instantly. The man's presence beside her suddenly loomed large, filling every corner of the space.

"Eat more."

A steamed bun appeared on her plate—the limited-edition kind from her favorite breakfast shop.

Ye Wanwan's mood was a jumble of conflicting feelings.

Ever since she'd shown up, Si Yehan hadn't reacted at all to her dramatic change in appearance. Not even a hint of surprise.

Wasn't Lin Que's over-the-top reaction the normal one?

Unable to hold back any longer, Ye Wanwan asked, "Si Yehan, don't you think I look any different today?"

Si Yehan picked up a har gow and placed it on her plate. "What?"

Ye Wanwan: "My appearance! Look at me!"

Si Yehan raised an eyebrow. "Different?"

Ye Wanwan was left speechless, choking on her words. "..."

Was this man blind?

The man glanced at the girl's dark, scowling face. Then he lifted his eyes slightly, his tone casual and indifferent as he said, "Still just as delicious."

Ye Wanwan: "..."

Still just as delicious?!

He'd actually thought she was "delicious" even when she'd looked like a disaster before? And now that she'd changed so much, he still thought there was no difference?!

Ye Wanwan was utterly stunned by this man's weird, twisted taste...
