Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine

As they got closer and closer to the civilization in front, Vincent realized he had started praying they did not end up in an Elven kingdom. Because he wouldn't want one psycho woman to destroy this new world he was given a chance to live in. Better or worse, he would just deny ever knowing her. Moreover, he knew that the Elves were mostly women beautiful women for that matter and with the way he was dressed, he couldn't imagine how embarrassing that would be.

He looked over at Miss Aimee once again. Princess? This woman is a princess? Is she the daughter of the King of England or what? His line of thought was cut off by Miss Aimee's excited words.

"Look, it's the Dwarven Kingdom!"

And in front of him was a city of dwarves. Well, this is a somewhat good situation.

He knew from the physiology of dwarves that they would just make fun of him at most, probably for a long time, but it would not be any more than that.

Vincent could not even express how he was feeling right now. The whole city was flowing with dwarves short men with beards reaching the ground.

It was just as he read in his novels. The houses and buildings were clumsy and dirty. Right in front of him, two dwarves were having an argument which almost led to a bloody fight, and in the next moment they became best of buddies.

"Vincent, I could almost not believe your luck. Not only did it lead us to a dwarven city, which is what you need right now, it led us specifically to Brotherhood City. I've got a few friends here."

And just as Miss Aimee said those words, it was as if she used it to draw attention to themselves, as all the dwarves on the street diverted their attention to them.

"You see, despite the treaty, most people still don't visit the dwarven kingdoms, talk less of back-end cities such as this. And I'm very sure you've known why by now," she concluded as one dwarf grunted and spat right on the road.

But Vincent could care less about that right now as their gazes diverted from Miss Aimee to him.

"Hey, is that a boy?"

"Why is he dressed like that?"

"Is this some kind of show?"

"Mummy, that man is wearing your skirt!"

"What are we supposed to call that? Walking or limping?"

His face became more and more red with every step he took. His assumptions were wrong. It was the worst possible case for him, because soon enough a crowd had gathered around watching him walk away, calling their friends to come and see the madman.

Imagine being laughed at by a horde of dwarves. Vincent could barely hold the urge to kick one of them.

"Hmm... Aimee, when are we going to reach these friends of yours?"

"Slow your ass, boy. Let's enjoy the scenery of the environment. It's not every day you see this many dwarves gathered in one place, you know," came the reply, barely hiding the laugh under it.

Vincent took solace in the thoughts of how he was going to take his revenge.

"Hey Aimee! Is that you?" a dwarf woman walked up to them. "Aimee!! Why did you not tell us you were coming?" she said, hugging Aimee.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Mrs Ham. My coming was impromptu," Aimee replied. From the flow of their conversation, it was obvious they were quite close and that she was the friend Aimee had talked about earlier.

"Oh, you know you are welcome anytime! Come on, grandpa must have heard of your arrival," she said, practically dragging Aimee along before stopping abruptly. "Is this a friend of yours?" Mrs Ham asked, pointing at Vincent.

"Yes, ma. I want to get some clothes and armor for him."

"Woah, so Aimee, you've finally found the right man. You know this is the first time you're introducing a man to us. He seems handsome enough. You've done well, young man."

Vincent just stood there, his face getting more and more confused with every word that came out of Mrs Ham's mouth. Found the right man? Me done well? Apart from the fact that she is my teacher, I can never get close to this wicked woman!! He screamed in his head.

"Oh... yes ma'am," he replied with a smile, doing all he could to hold his tongue since Mrs Ham stood in front of him like she was expecting a reply.

"Better, better. Well come along, we mustn't keep grandpa waiting."

"No, no, Mrs Ham, it's nothing like that!!" Aimee screamed with a reddened face and a hint of anger, but Mrs Ham did not stop dragging her, talk less of hearing what she said.

Vincent noticed the annoyance in her voice and a smile appeared on his face. How would she feel if a guy dressed like this becomes her darling in public? His revenge had started.

"Darling, don't leave me behind!!" he screamed on top of his lungs as he jumped along with them.
