Qin Yan lay on his bed, reflecting on the plot he knew from his past life. In the movie Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku, Bardock's Team should have been carrying out Frieza's orders to conquer Planet Kanassa. After a fierce battle, the team had quickly wiped out the entire planet, leaving the ground littered with corpses to greet the morning sun.
Bardock's Team had been resting in a crater created by an explosion. While they were discussing Bardock's newborn son, Goku, and wondering why Lord Frieza wanted to seize Planet Kanassa,
the last surviving Kanassan warrior suddenly rose from the ruins. Catching Bardock and the others off guard, he used a unique Kanassan technique, the Phantom Fist, to transfer his race's foresight ability to Bardock.
Bardock didn't even have time to react before the Phantom Fist struck his cervical vertebrae. His teammate Tora, recovering quickly, fired an Energy Wave that engulfed the survivor in roaring flames.
Before he died, the Kanassan warrior told Bardock that he now possessed the power of foresight and that the Saiyans, like the Kanassans, were doomed to a path of death.
Infuriated, Bardock finished him off with another Energy Wave, reducing the Kanassan to ashes before Bardock himself collapsed into unconsciousness.
Terrified, his four teammates immediately brought him back to Planet Vegeta for treatment.
According to the plot, the proud Prince Vegeta was currently undergoing special training in a training room. Relying on his immense Battle Power and combat talent, the young Vegeta had taken only a few seconds to eliminate a group of enhanced Saibamen.
These Saibamen had a Power Level of around 1,200. In Dragon Ball Z, when Vegeta first arrived on Earth, he had released Saibamen that the Z Fighters only managed to defeat after a grueling struggle and at the cost of several lives. This showed just how terrifying the young Prince Vegeta truly was.
Prince Vegeta's horrific strength left the observing aliens speechless. Only Nappa, who hadn't yet gone completely bald, remained calm. He knew the Prince's strength well and was aware that he hadn't even used his full power.
Dissatisfied with the training room, the aggressive and competitive Prince Vegeta took his lackey, Nappa, to petition Frieza for a mission to attack a more powerful planet to prove his worth.
After performing the proper rites of a subject to King Frieza and receiving permission, the arrogant Prince Vegeta happily set off for more distant regions with Nappa.
By now, Prince Vegeta should have already left Planet Vegeta for his mission.
Meanwhile, in a Rejuvenation Chamber, Bardock was suffering from the effects of the Kanassan's Phantom Fist. He now possessed the ability to see the future.
Amidst the cries of Kakarot, he was likely seeing chaotic visions of the future events his son, Kakarot, also known as Goku, would experience from childhood to adulthood.
Once Bardock woke up and realized his teammates had already departed, he would follow them to Planet Meat to continue the conquest. It was on Planet Meat that he and his team would be ambushed by Frieza's right-hand man, Dodoria, leading to the death of everyone in the squad except for Bardock.
After organizing his thoughts, Qin Yan drifted off to sleep.
The next morning.
Qin Yan brought Liya back to the infirmary where Bardock was resting. Two aliens were standing guard there.
Qin Yan moved quickly, dealing with the two guards before approaching Bardock's Rejuvenation Chamber.
"Brother Qin Yan, what are we doing here?" Little Liya asked in confusion, looking at Bardock who was still undergoing treatment.
Qin Yan didn't answer. He stared silently at Bardock inside the tank for a moment before walking to the control panel. After a few quick adjustments...
Splash!
The medicinal liquid inside the Rejuvenation Chamber drained rapidly until it was completely empty.
Hiss!
The door of the chamber slowly slid open.
Qin Yan hurriedly lifted Bardock from the medical rack and laid him flat on the floor. He told Liya to bring a towel to cover him, then Qin Yan took out a Senzu Bean and placed it in Bardock's mouth.
"Bardock, eat this." Qin Yan called out, trying to get him to swallow the Senzu Bean.
When there was no response for a while, Qin Yan prepared to force the Senzu Bean down his throat.
Right at that moment...
Waaaaah! Waaaaah!
The sound of an infant's crying drifted into the room, snapping Bardock back to consciousness.
Gulp!
His throat moved as he instinctively swallowed the Senzu Bean.
Immediately after, Bardock's body jerked. He snapped his eyes open and stood up abruptly.
"You're awake, Bardock," Qin Yan said calmly.
"Who are you? Why are you here? Where are the guards?" Bardock asked, staring in confusion at the two Saiyan children before him.
"Oh, I am Karos, and she is Liya. Our parents sent us to find the technicians to fix a medical machine. We heard a noise over here and came to check it out. That's when we found you on the floor. We didn't see anyone else." Qin Yan had his cover story ready.
"Is that so? Whatever, just leave. This isn't a place for kids," Bardock said with a hint of suspicion, but he didn't press the matter. To him, two Saiyan children couldn't have done much. He simply shooed them away.
As expected, Saiyans were quite thick-headed.
"Alright. By the way, we heard that Lord Tora and the others were given a new mission by King Frieza. Because it was urgent, the four of them left for Planet Meat yesterday." Qin Yan nodded and then informed him of his teammates' whereabouts.
"What? Dammit, they left without me! I need to get over there and help." Hearing that his team had already moved out, Bardock couldn't sit still. He was eager to join them. Although he grumbled about them not waiting, the excitement was plain on his face.
Bardock quickly grabbed a new set of Battle Armor from a storage locker and put it on.
Though Bardock was a low-class warrior, he was a Saiyan who had walked the line between life and death countless times, which significantly increased his Power Level. Having survived years of war and near-death experiences,
Qin Yan could see that Bardock's current Battle Power had reached approximately 10,000 roughly the same as King Vegeta's strength.
"I had a strange dream," Bardock muttered almost to himself as he strapped on his wrist guards.
"A dream?" Others might not have known what Bardock meant, but Qin Yan understood perfectly. Still, he feigned ignorance.
"Yeah," Bardock grunted, continuing to gear up while recalling the scenes from his dream. He had seen a guy who looked just like him, fighting. He didn't know what it was or who that person was.
"Are you really alright?" Qin Yan asked with a slight narrowing of his eyes, acting as though he were concerned while secretly seeing through everything.
"I'm a bit dizzy, but I feel good. I'm fine," Bardock replied, rubbing his head and shaking it off. "Planet Meat? It's nearby, isn't it? Alright!"
Bardock equipped his Scouter and calibrated it. Once he confirmed the mission coordinates, he ran out through the long corridor, heading for a spaceship to Planet Meat.
Qin Yan and Liya followed behind him.
A moment later.
Waaaaah! Waaaaah!
They heard the sound of an infant crying again, coming from the nursery at the end of the hall.
When they reached the nursery, they saw Bardock standing outside, looking through the glass at one of the infant pods.
The crying was coming from pod number 973.
Qin Yan and Liya walked up next to Bardock and looked inside. There lay a Saiyan infant who looked exactly like Bardock, wailing loudly.
The moment Qin Yan saw the baby, his eyes widened. This was the protagonist of Dragon Ball Goku. He hadn't expected to meet him here.
Looking at the crying Goku, Bardock seemed to remember something. He clutched his forehead in pain, then shook it off and looked at the label below the pod. It read: Kakarot.
Beep, beep, beep!
Bardock checked his Scouter and muttered, "A Battle Power of only 2?"
"Trash," Bardock spat with disdain before turning and walking away quickly.
Watching Bardock's departing figure, Qin Yan's lip twitched. This was how the father treated his own child.
Bardock knew this was his son, Kakarot, but seeing a Power Level of only two points, he couldn't help but complain about fathering such an ultra-low-class warrior. Qin Yan was speechless, truly feeling how cold-blooded the Saiyans were.
Once Bardock was out of sight, Qin Yan continued to study Goku in the pod. The baby's chubby, pink face was quite adorable, and he already had that iconic, explosive hairstyle that resembled his father's.
Qin Yan then looked toward the pod next to Goku's. It should have held the Saiyan infant Broly, but it was empty. It seemed Broly had already been exiled into deep space by King Vegeta.
Qin Yan lingered only a little longer before leaving. Goku would be sent away soon as well.
He quietly made his way to the spaceport. Watching the spaceship carrying Bardock disappear into the distance, Qin Yan smiled slightly. The real show was about to begin.
