And then the prince arrived.
The main force had broken through the front of the horde. Nathan heard them before he saw them, a roar coming from the center of the field. Then the prince came through the last demons in front of him with his soldiers right behind, and they hit the generals from the other side.
Now the generals were the ones caught between two forces.
The prince went for the four-armed giant. He didn't try to meet its strength. He stayed on the side of its broken knee, where it couldn't turn fast enough, and every time it reached for him, he cut the hand that reached.
Three soldiers held the blind serpent down with spears while Thomas finished it.
The last two generals were buried under the main force, and they didn't come back up.
The Demon King had watched all of this from his horse without moving.
"You're persistent," he said. "I'll give you that."
