Chapter 24 - part 23:A whisper across the sea.

"Do we really have to repeat everything that once came to a standstill like this? I have to go, Alex... there isn't much left to go anyway..."

Aami said this suddenly, sounding like a stubborn child.

"But Aami... haven't you seen your leg? It's badly swollen. What if there's a fracture? We should go back quickly and see a doctor..."

Alex tried to dissuade her, but she shook her head as if to say it was impossible.

"It's only this much more... I can adjust my leg. Besides, I'm a doctor too, aren't I? I'm certain there is no fracture..." she said.

"Please don't argue, Alex. I'll manage,... it's not that big of an issue... please..."

As Alex started to say something again, Aami quickly interrupted him. Knowing that she wouldn't listen, he let out a long sigh and nodded.

"Anyway, we can continue the journey after this mist clears... until then, you take some rest. I'll make some breakfast."

Saying that, Alex stepped out of the tent.

Aami lifted her swollen leg onto the bed. She looked at the wounds on her hands that had been bandaged... she didn't feel any pain in them. It must be the effect of the medicine... Devi had done everything so carefully.

"Devi..."

Lost in thought, Aami whispered his name.

"Will I ever be able to see him again...???"

At that thought, a pang of restlessness rose in Aami's heart... something in a way that is impossible to describe. Even though she tried to recall his face in her mind, strangely enough, only those eyes came to her memory. Or perhaps, it is just like that sometimes. Even though it had only been a short while since she left him, she could remember his clothes, his body structure, and his hairstyle—yet, the thought that his face wouldn't come to mind, except for those eyes, filled Aami's eyes with tears.

Still, she quickly brushed them away with her fingers. "Aami, what has happened to you???". If it were out of gratitude or love for saving her life, it wasn't just him; Adam and Jerin, who were with him, had also helped her. "Okay... without worrying about things that are unnecessary and may never happen again, think about where you need to go...".

She motivated herself....

"Aami...".

Before she could think any more about it, Alex arrived with breakfast. It was coffee and two sandwiches... and some fruits had been cut as well. The two of them shared and finished the meal together. After resting for a little while longer, they packed everything up and began the climb. Because Aami's leg was injured, the journey was very slow... through it all, Alex took great care of her and kept helping her.

What should have taken one hour took them two hours to reach their destination. It wasn't at all like they expected... there were many people at the top... and quite a few tents as well. They walked forward again and reached the very edge of that mountain peak. One slip of the foot, and they would surely fall into the depths of the sea.

But it must be said... Aami likely hadn't seen such a breathtaking sight in recent times. A massive mountain range standing against the onslaught of the sea for about a kilometer.... Even though they had conquered such a great height to get there, the top was a completely flat area.... The only thing was that it was full of rock formations... and there were also wide, elevated rock formations in the middle of the sea. But surely, this wasn't what they had come to see... it was that island, wasn't it?.

"Alex, where is that island...???"

Aami asked, unable to contain her curiosity. In response, he gave a small smile and pointed his finger in one direction. When Aami looked there with eagerness, she saw only a very small area filled with rocks... she looked at him sharply as if to ask,

"Is this the beautiful place you talked about?".

He moved his pointed finger to the left of those rocky areas. Aami followed his gaze, and finally, her eyes came to a rest... far away, but clear enough for the eyes to capture, was a stunningly beautiful island... the sea surrounding it had some very unique features.

"What is that, alex? The sea there looks like it has a deep color or something else..."

Aami asked.

In response, he took out his phone and showed Aami a video. It was a distant view of that island from the sky... a portion of the sea itself was incredibly shallow... one could walk through it. The sea waves were merely stroking the shore... it was a sight like crystal clear water where you could clearly see many things in the pure white sand at the bottom of the sea... but something else amazed her even more. Moving forward from that shallow area, there was a waterfall right in the middle of the sea... all that water was falling into a great depth...

"Oh my god..."

Aami covered her mouth.

"What is that there...???"

Aami asked with immense wonder, unable to control her anticipation... but everything ended right there.

"What happened... why can't I see the rest...?"

Aami asked, startled, looking up with wide eyes.

"My drone didn't catch anything after that...," Alex said.

"Couldn't you have moved it a bit further forward...?" Aami asked.

"For that, I don't even know where my drone is anymore..." Alex said sadly.

"Eh.. what happened to it...?" Aami was bewildered.

"Didn't I tell you... the gravitational force around that island is very high. Haven't you heard many stories about our Bermuda Triangle? It's just like that here... nothing can travel over it... everything disappears right there..." Alex said.

"But I haven't seen or heard any such news..." said Aami.

"Aami , they say that transportation through there was stopped perhaps even before we were born... It's not even an air route... The mystery there is something even our government has acknowledged... They might have even tried to conduct research and studies on it and failed..."

As he spoke, something began to slowly fill Aami's thoughts and her mind... Amelia.
