Rosalind's voice bubbled with enthusiasm as she gave me a gentle push. "Why are you just standing there like a statue? Go say hello to Prince Caspian! He's your fiancé!"
I could practically hear her thoughts racing. 'Prince Caspian never bothers with these meaningless social events. His surprise appearance has to mean he's here for Bella.'
She watched me with growing frustration, thinking, 'Here's this perfect opportunity staring her in the face, and she's not seizing it. If she hesitates much longer, the moment will slip away!'
I could sense her urge to physically drag me into Caspian's arms, probably just to show Ivy who was boss.
But I only gave Caspian a quick look before turning away.
My pulse quickened, though I kept my voice steady. "Why wouldn't Prince Caspian be here? Perhaps he's genuinely interested in polo."
