Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : The Trigger Point

BEAUTY'S POV (Continuation)

"Relax, just relax. You can take it out of my pay," I suggested.

"What pay? Have you forgotten that I don't pay you? The fact that I let you sleep here and also feed you is payment enough," Bricks retorted, his voice sharp.

"Okay, okay, fine. I will work two times more than usual to earn just for that one," I conceded.

"You better. So, was it the only banky you smoked?" he asked, his gaze steady.

"Yeah. The stock sold out quickly, plus Trevor also helped me sell," I explained.

"I hope he is not expecting payment from me," Bricks said.

"No, by smoking with him he took it as payment," I confirmed, shrugging slightly.

"Aahhhh, I heard the police almost caught you," Bricks remarked, a hint of concern in his tone.

"That's little water. I managed to cut free. Of course, with Trevor, Mfana, and Scar's help," I boasted.

"You have to change posts," Bricks instructed, his tone firm.

"No! If I change posts, then the police will be after me because I would have proved them right. But if I stay there, they will let me go. I mean, a dealer will not stay at the same post even after the police suspect him, right?" I argued, standing my ground.

"Well, it does make sense, but if you are caught, don't mention my name," Bricks warned, his eyes narrowed.

"And why would I take out your name? Do I look like a snitch?" I asked, a challenging note in my voice.

"All of them say that at first, but end up being snitches," Bricks insisted.

"Whatever. Food first. I don't have time for your nonsense talk," I snapped.

"(chuckles) You are one piece of rubbish, you know," Bricks said, a wry smile on his face.

"I know. No need to keep on reminding me," I replied.

"I am glad you are aware," Bricks said.

I let him be and just looked in the fridge for food. I saw a lunchbox with food. I took it.

"Hey, that's my lunchbox," Bricks protested, his hand reaching out.

"Come on, we all know one of your girls will be coming right now to give you dinner to eat and dinner to 'eat.' So please just shut up and mind your business," I scoffed.

"Heee, did you smoke too much to the point that you can't recognize who you are talking to?" Bricks challenged, his voice rising slightly.

I went to him and bent down to face him. My face was now close to his face.

"I can smoke 100 rolls of weed, but I will always know who I am talking to. And right now, I am talking to the high and mighty Bricks," I stated, my gaze unflinching.

He didn't say anything; he just looked at me.

I then went back and smirked and went to heat up the food.

"Huh.. yeah.. whatever," Bricks mumbled, sounding defeated.

After heating the food, someone knocked on the door.

"Must be one of your 'wives'," I commented dryly.

I went to open, and indeed it was them. I then locked the door.

"Hey, Boi," she greeted.

"Sure, sure, my lady," I replied.

She blushed.

"How, Boi, how can you eat and not prepare food for Bricks?" she scolded, a playful frown on her face.

"He is not my husband, plus I am high and hungry; he isn't," I explained.

Bricks chuckled.

"Mxm, you are a bad little brother," she said in exasperation (All her girls know that as much as I am a girl, Bricks takes me as a boy, so they all think I am lesbian.)

"Anyway, Bricks, I brought you dinner," she said.

"Why didn't you bring for me?" I asked.

"I am not your wife," she replied.

"Touché. What a bad sister-in-law," I said, shaking my head.

I sat down eating as this girl also ate with Bricks, and they had small talks. After eating, I was now feeling sleepy.

I took the lunchbox to the sink and rinsed it. Then I went to my bed (on the couch) and tried sleeping. But as I was catching my sleep, they started getting loud. They were now kissing, giggling, and making sounds, especially the girl. She then started moaning, and that was now messing with my sleep.

I then put on my earphones and slept with a soft music playing. In no time, I was asleep.

BRICKS' POV

I am on top of this girl. Mind you, I don't even know which of the names in my head is her name.

As I was busy on her, I kept worrying about Beauty. I kept replaying the moment when she put her face close to mine. That moment when I got nervous and my heart raced as if I was scared.

BRICKS' POV (Moments Later)

The session was over, and now we were lying on the bed.

"I am heading to get water. Do you want?" I asked.

"Yes, please," she replied.

"Okay, babe," I said.

I got out of bed and went to get water.

The shack is divided into two rooms. The bedroom and the kitchen and living room together in one room. The bedroom is only divided out of the other rooms with a curtain. At night, I close with the curtain if one of my girls is here, but if they are not here, I don't close; I just sleep with the curtains open.

So I got to the fridge and took out the bottle of water. After, I looked at Beauty and saw her sleeping with earphones on, without a blanket. I smiled and went to my bedroom.

"Here. I will be back. I am taking a blanket to Boi," I said.

"She didn't have a blanket?" she asked.

"No, she says she didn't want to disturb us," I replied.

"I hope we weren't loud for her," she said.

"I doubt she heard anything because she was listening to music," I assured her.

"Oh, at least," she said.

"I will be back, okay?" I said.

"Okay," she replied.

I kissed her on the forehead and took a blanket to put on Beauty. I then took out her earphones and switched the music off and charged the phone for her. I then gently brushed her hair.

"I am sorry we were loud that you had to even sleep with earphones on. Sweet dreams," I whispered, my voice low.

I smiled and stood up, going back to my room.

While the night settled quietly in the shack, offering an uneasy sleep to its inhabitants, elsewhere, Leon's empire was far from calm.

LEON'S POV (Continuation)

"Meeting adjourned. Get rid of this body, make sure it will never be found, clean up the mess, and go rest," I commanded, my authority absolute.

"Yes, boss," said Them.

"Joe, let's go. Thami, I believe you will make sure no traces and nothing is left," I said.

"Yes, boss, I will not disappoint you," replied Thami, sounding resolute.

"Good," I concluded.

We left.

"Should I take you to the company so that you go fetch your car?" Joe asked.

"No, take me home," I replied, my voice flat.

"Yes, boss," said Joe.

He drove me home without saying a word.

"The journalist. Anything I should know about her?" I asked, breaking the silence and getting straight to the point.

"I haven't received the information yet. Our IT group is working on it," replied Joe.

"Better make it quick. I can't wait for her to attack me again," I warned.

"Yes, sir," said Joe.

We got home, and I got out the car.

"Fetch me tomorrow morning. Don't be late," I instructed.

"Yes, boss," said Joe.

I turned and got in my house. I got to the kitchen, got some water, and drank. Then went to my room and got changed.

"Ahhhhh what a day," I thought.
