Chapter 2 - the encounter

"Everyone must report to the auditorium! I repeat, everyone is to report to the auditorium!" I hurriedly grabbed the book and walked up to the checkout desk, and asked,

"Can I check out this book for a personal project?" The lady behind the desk looked up at me and smiled.

"Of course, Scarlett." She held out her hand for the book, and I handed it to her. After she was done, she gave it back and said

"Now run along to the auditorium so you don't get in trouble." I nodded and motioned for my friends to come with me. When we walked in, the room was mostly full. Each row of demons was a different faction. Most factions are just spawns of famous demons around hell, like the Envy demons, demons that bring despair, rage demons, and greed demons are the higher-up demon factions. The other factions include lesser demons like fire, water, shadows, dreams, and demons who bring madness. But there was a row open closer to the back, so we filed in.

My friend group was the Capital One misfits group. Levi is a water demon, Juniper is a dream demon, Chloe is a Greed demon, Noah is a clumsy fire demon, and Magma is a shadow demon. We haven't figured out what type of demon I am because I can do some things other demons can't, and I can do a lot of things a bunch of different demons can do. The principal, Astaroth Bonecrusher, walked out on the stage and stood in front of the mic.

"Attention, demons in the making! We have a job to do. There are two Angel students from the realm above to… 'keep watch on us' so just continue how you have been, but be a little cautious around them." he looked over to the side where he came out and motioned for two people to come out. "Welcome our visitors for the year, Ezra and Christopher."

As the bright, winged, and haloed boys came out, there was no clapping, and everyone was squinting to the new brightness, but after a few seconds, the light went away so we could see them better. Maybe it's that they're kind of a warning or protection.

Principal Bonecrusher said, "Welcome to our lovely school. Would you like to say anything to the little demons?" They shook their heads, so Astaroth turned to the crowd and asked, "Do any of you have questions for these two boys?" At first, no one put their hand up, so I did. Of course, he said

"Yes? What is your question?" I said, "Why do the angels always think we are the ones who start war, and when we question them, we are not allowed to do this?" I could see the principal roll his eyes.

"Well, since you are the only one who has a question, you may all depart except Scarlett Storm. Please come up to the stage, Scarlett." I rolled my eyes and stood up I whispered to my friends,

"I'll see you guys later. Could you guys ask the teachers to see where we might find the ingredients for the potion?" They nodded, and I made my way up to the stage with everyone looking at me. I snarled at the nosy demons trying to get a better look at me. I'm not like most demons; I am a mix of a few things. I have horns that curl around twice, and I have huge, black, and red feathery wings that go down to my feet. My hair is dark brown with ashy tips, and it flows down to my waist. My eyes are a goldish red, and my skin is very pale. I swished my body while I walked to grab everyone's attention. I am wearing a skin-tight leather jumpsuit.

When I finally got up to the Principal, I said, "So I'd like an answer to my question."

He sneered at me, "Your eyes are glowing again, and you're making it extra hot in the room. Tone it down."

I blink a few times and think of gore, and I'm not heating everything anymore. I looked back at him, irritated.

"Better?" he nodded stiffly, turned to the Angel boys, and said, "This is Scarlett Storm. She is the most powerful and intelligent student at this school." Ezra spoke up,

"I don't really have an answer to your question, milady, but I can see how that would frustrate you."

Just then, the door was pushed open to reveal my tiger, Cinder. There are markings in between the stripes on the tiger that only I can read, and they change with each thought the tiger has, and her roar shoots flames. Once she bounds up the stairs to the stage, successfully scaring the angels, she tangles her body through my legs.

I smirked and pet her head, "Hello, my precious, where have you been?"

The markings on her coat changed, and I answered, "Oh, you made yourself comfortable on my bed? Your bed is right next to mine, though." The great big tiger snorted, and her coat markings changed again. I rolled my eyes at her response.

Bonecrusher cleared his throat, and I remembered where I was.

"Oh, right." I looked the angels up and down. "Well, sir, don't call me your lady, I don't know you." He looked at the ground uncomfortably, and he whispered, "Sorry."

Then I got a better look at them and said, "I thought halos were only myths!" I laughed and stroked Cinder's beautiful coat.

The one named Christopher sneered at me and said, "Well, horns aren't very cool." My rage sparked, and my eyes glowed red, and heat radiated off me. "Horns are a sign of leadership and strength. Didn't you notice that the other students don't have them? Or were you too busy not tripping over your wings, you don't look like the kind to be able to carry them right."

I spread out my wings so he could see them because they were inside my shoulders at the moment. He got right up in my face, and before I could punch him, Bonecrusher just had to get in the way. Ugh, come on, the boy totally deserved a throat punch.

Bonecrusher got in my face and said, "STAND DOWN! I called you up here to get in the good graces of the angels and so you could show them the school, not to pick fights." His response only fueled my anger.

"Well, if they act like this, I want nothing to do with them; they look like Zeus wanna-be's. You know very well what Zeus did to Hera. I don't want them near me. I'm surprised they didn't back away when I got up here. I was trying to keep them out of my way."

Bonecrusher put his hand around my neck and started squeezing. I could see the red light from my eyes heating his skin. I put my hand over his eyes and showed him what I could do to him. I pictured in my mind ripping off his head or cutting him limb from limb. I took my hand away when his hand released his grip, and he backed away, startled

"You have an evil mind, Scarlett. It'll get you either at the top or wanted dead." I smiled an innocent smile, "Those were my most tame thoughts, Mr Bonecrusher!"

He furrowed his eyebrow but fixed his face quickly and put on a business voice, "You will give these gentlemen a tour of the school and then report to my office."
