Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Hermit God

"You are a lucky that I am nearby or worse you will be in its belly forever! Up until someone kills it, you will not escape." Eli was scratching his chin. Then leaped from the rock above towards where Sun was standing.

"Congratulations of surviving that abomination." He added, lifting his staff then thumping it on the rocky floor where they stood.

Sun was still shocked and still was digesting things. He did not expected to be saved. With an old man nonetheless but he was grateful. He bowed slightly then said "Thank you,"

But to his mind, he was curious at to what magic did that old hermit did. He saw that it killed the creature with just one strike.

"Hmm? Perhaps you are curious to what spell saved you eh? That is called Piercing lightning strike. An elemental spell. You will find more of that if you accompany me to the nearest God settlement. Maybe arm yourself with one or two yes?" Eli said in a laughable manner. But Sun was indeed curious or even we could say, tempted to see it for his own eyes.

He followed the old God and then felt more safe with him. He would not gonna risk of being an abomination's belly for his entire life here in this world.

"Old man, I am curious, how old are you here?" He asked in quite curiousity.

"Hmm? Me? Well, two thousand years already." He said nonchalantly.

"What!?" Sun nearly choked.

"But fret not, I am still young compared to the elders. They reached millions already." He said to him.

To think of it, he was still a day old here. But felt that he was at least old compared in the mortal realm. But here, he was the youngest. And the weakest whelp.

He immediately asked more questions and the old man was happily filling him the details. Bit by bit.

"What abomination was that? That one that attacked me." Sun asked. The old man was thinking a bit then answered.

"Hmm, as for that question, that was a malevolent ghost. And fighting it without a weapon made with sun ore is a great idea of suicide. Weapons crafted by the blacksmiths were the only ones able to cut them or hurt them. You are nearly consumed by it. It was called none other than.....The Devourer of Wanderers. You would not find it pleasing when devoured as you will still live inside its belly. An endless torture one might say." Eli nearly laughed as he could not imagine Sun being in such a situation.

Malevolent spirits were growing rampant with more cases of eating Gods ....Making them as a life source that they fed on..... Eating away their immortality as a food and it was an excruciating and slow death.

"Also, you are not the only God who made it here." Eli added.

Sun was surprised, "Really? I didn't know! But knowing that, it felt humbling. I did not know that there are more that became Gods earlier."

"Hmm, hmm, yes. You are pretty much late compared to the Pioneers of the ascenders. I was told that some of them finally became an Elder God. After several thousand of centuries or millions of decades that they finally made it to God realm or called the planes of the Gods." Eli added, this time he felt more serious.

Sun Xian was surprised....so he knew where the demon God has fled..... He will chase him anywhere and that is his goal. "So my goal is to reach the demon God that took away May."

"Hmm? A demon God? Ah yes, but let me give you an advice, forget about her. You will face more pain than death. Even have his mercy for a suicide." Eli felt troubled. "But he is not impossible to kill, be strong enough first. That's all I can say."

"Take up arms and become strong. This world has no space for another weakling that will only a feeder to the ghosts and other anomalies." Eli was reassuring him and Sun took up the challenge.

"Yes! I will remember it."

He finds it hard but he was disappointed with him.

"Don't show fear or helplessness when facing a ghost or evil spirits...they will just get stronger by that..." Eli nearly clicked his tongue.

"I'm sorry, I will not show fear anymore." Sun reaffirmed.

"Good, and with that, I will guide you thoroughly." Eli added, Sun felt more safe with him and with his guidance, he could attain his goal. As for the weakness he got, he will have to supplement it later.

They travelled to the road towards the nearest camp. It was an arduous path and also Sun ate the fruits he harvested. They arrived at the mountain top and saw the camp at the bottom. The camp was small and the wind was bitter cold.

"That is the nearest Immortal camp. It was one for the nearest camp that was built. Made to monitor the movements of ghosts in the vicinity. We could not afford to lose an immortal's life as it would weaken the forces of good." He said. "Yes, I know, I know. There's this good and evil thing and we are at war. We called it the holy war and the forces of good was in the losing side."

Eli felt like he has explained everything and Sun was listening. "I see, I indeed ascended in times of turmoil. But that means an opportunity to get stronger!" He said.

"Hmm, that fire in your eyes, I like it. But let's see your brawn in battle after we arrive in the camp. I can see that you have potential." Eli was expecting greater potential in him. "Hmm, hmm, good good."

Sun was more than excited to learn the things or two here in this world. But seeing what things transpired, he could feel that they were in a bind and in a desperate situation. The forces of evil was stronger than he had imagined. "This is interesting, I can finally let loose."
