Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: THE EVALUATION (2)

The heavenly tribulation one must face when breaking into the core formation realm is known as the mortal tribulation.

The mortal tribulation is both a challenge and an opportunity.

It refines the body, making it stronger and more durable, so it can withstand the energy released by the new energy core. Ironically, the harsher and fiercer the mortal tribulation, the better.

Typically, talented individuals face tougher tribulations than mediocre ones because their solid foundations trigger stronger tests.

Passing the mortal tribulation grants power, but failure results in death.

Each tribulation is a personal challenge that must be overcome alone. Any outside interference usually increases the difficulty, often leading to death for both parties.

So, hearing that Valdis's tribulations will be ten times stronger than normal made everyone understand why divine physiques are called the forbidden physiques, despite their benefits.

There's a saying: to fully enjoy wealth, one must first live long enough.

Right now, Valdis seemed to have immense potential but not enough time to realize it to its full extent.

Elenor felt her legs give out, but before she hit the ground, Draven caught her from behind.

Seeing the atmosphere change, the second ancestor couldn't hold back and spoke:

"But Valdis will be different."

Everyone turned to him.

"Is there a way for Valdis to survive this ordeal?" Draven asked.

"Yes, and it lies with the bloodline fusion that occurred during his bloodline awakening ceremony," said the second ancestor.

"How does his bloodline relate to surviving the curse of the forbidden physiques?" the third ancestor asked.

"It seems you've forgotten that he already survived one, and although it was quite abnormal, it carried the same intensity as one. Not only did he survive, but he fought back and won somehow. He's achieved the impossible once. What makes you think he can't do it again?" the second ancestor replied.

Hearing this, the third ancestor fell silent. She couldn't deny his achievements, and she couldn't deny the fact that he had survived the horrors that came with his awakening.

Even his blood aura released at his awakening as he fought back against the heavens had made the blood in her veins restless, despite the distance between them.

How powerful was she? She had mastered the laws of blood, yet her blood was stirred just by a child who had recently awakened, and she could do nothing to suppress it

She fell silent at this thought.

As Elenor heard this, light returned to her eyes and strength to her limbs.

Valdis, watching all this, was stunned by the revelation, but his mind was occupied by an entirely different train of thought.

'If the tribulations are at least ten times stronger than normal, wouldn't the rewards for passing them also be ten times better?' Valdis wondered.

Anyone who knew his thoughts would think he had completely lost his mind.

The heavenly tribulation wasn't a joke but a real life or death moment. Because six out of ten people who trigger a lightning tribulation as they attempt to advance into the core formation realm perish beneath it.

Due to the obvious dangers associated with triggering one it, thinking about the potential rewards before facing a tribulation is completely foolish.

While deep in thought, the others seemed to reach a silent consensus and turned their gazes toward him.

The first ancestor broke the silence, his voice snapping him out of his thoughts:

"Valdis, you may continue your evaluation."

Valdis looked at the tall, shadowy figure in the center, nodded, and moved toward the Aether Law crystal.

The crystal was unremarkable and out of place compared to the other items in the room.

"Place your hand on the crystal, and it will evaluate the laws you have an affinity for," Draven's voice instructed again.

Without hesitation, Valdis placed his hand on the smooth surface of the crystal ball. At first, he felt nothing, but then the law crystal vibrated briefly, releasing a mysterious energy that quickly washed over him before everything returned to normal.

'That's it?' Valdis thought, stunned. He expected more.

Suddenly, colors appeared on the transparent crystal ball.

The first was black — so dark that light seemed to be swallowed by it. Soon after, seven golden rings appeared above the crystal.

The second color was deep crimson, which also summoned seven golden rings.

The third emanated a silvery glow, adding an air of mystery, and again summoned seven rings.

Everyone in the room was in shock.

Not because he displayed three affinities — although it's rare but not impossible to find.

The shock came from his spatial affinity. Spatial law is a supreme law, and it's extremely rare to find someone with that affinity, let alone a supreme affinity for spatial laws.

Over the centuries, a few have had spatial affinities, but the highest recorded was an earth-grade talent, making them nearly invincible. Their attacks were untraceable and unpredictable.

The Aether Law crystal grades talents by their rings, with one ring being the lowest, indicating low-grade talent, and seven rings representing legendary divine-grade talent.

Having a supreme-grade talent meant being a rare prodigy. His brother Malrik had a supreme affinity for the laws of darkness, and though he had other affinities, none were supreme.

Now Valdis had three affinities, all at the supreme level. No wonder everyone was shocked.

But Valdis wasn't finished. The orb's color changed to fiery red, and it summoned eight golden rings.

The room felt like it was being drained of air as everyone slowly caught their breath. Before they could settle down, the color changed again.

This time, the orb turned gray, radiating a slightly oppressive might.

Draven raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

Then the orb summoned another eight rings. His expression shifted dramatically — his eyes glowed briefly, and everything returned to normal. The look he cast at Valdis changed slightly.

Afterward, the crystal orb returned to transparency and silence.

But the damage was done.

Everyone looked at Valdis as if he were a monster — which was ironic since Malrik was known as 'the monster from house Ebonhart,' and even he looked at Valdis as if witnessing the birth of a new monster.

The ancestors were the only ones who didn't find this scene too shocking because they already knew that those who wield one of three divine physiques never lacked talent, but even at that, having an affinity for five different laws, where the lowest is a supreme grade affinity.

A supreme grade affinity was something that some people prayed desperately for but that which people wanted became Valdis worst affinity evaluation for the day.

And as though that wasn't enough, one of the laws he had a divine grade affinity for just had to be a supreme law.

He was becoming more of a monster than his brother ever was at his age.
