"You slapped me again?" I whined, rubbing my cheek gently. "What did I ever do to you to be treated like this?" I demanded. "I have always been a good wife to you and yet this is how you treat me by raising your hand at me."
"You were about to ruin everything!" Roman yelled at me, his face inches from mine. His eyes were bloodshot, his veins bulging in his neck. "Do you have any idea how much work went into today? How much have I invested in this project? I am at the finish line, Vivienne, and I would never let you or anyone ruin everything I have worked hard for!" He yelled and grabbed my chin, forcing me to look into his eyes.
"I am about to become one of the most powerful men in this city, and you were going to throw it all away for some rotting building and a bunch of nameless kids!" He tightened his grip around my chin until I felt his nails digging into my skin.
