Ubuyashiki Kagaya and Rengoku Kyojuro departed as the sun began to dip. While the daylight offered them safe passage, the night belonged to the predators. They had to return to the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, as the Ubuyashiki bloodline remained the ultimate prize for Kibutsuji Muzan, who hunted them with a thousand-year-old hatred.

Before leaving with the first-generation UV light prototype, Kagaya left behind a gift: a bridge for future communication. Usually, the Corps utilized Kasugai Crows—intelligent birds trained to mimic human speech. However, the one Kagaya chose for Kael was a cockatiel.

It was a vibrant yellow and white bird, with two orange-red patches on its cheeks like a maiden's rouge. It was undeniably cute, lacking only a tiny bow to complete the aesthetic.

"Chirp chirp Nuzzle nuzzle Baby Nuzzle nuzzle"

The cockatiel perched on Kael's shoulder, rubbing its head against his chin with an intoxicated level of affection. It was clear the bird had instantly imprinted on its new master.

"This is my husband!!"

Mitsuri watched the exchange, her cheeks puffing out in an anxious pout. She had never expected to find herself in a jealousy-fueled rivalry with a small yellow bird. Are you even a bird? You're acting like a house-cat!

"Bad woman Chirp chirp"

The cockatiel pressed closer to Kael's face, leaning its weight against him as if glued there.

"This is infuriating!" Mitsuri stamped her foot. She wanted to snatch the bird away, but her desire to maintain her image as a "gentle and quiet" wife held her back. In reality, Kael knew she was gentle, but "quiet" was a trait she had never possessed—especially not when her emotions were involved.

"I'll call it Xiao Bai," Kael said, finding a wooden perch for the bird under the windowsill. "Mitsuri, I'll leave the care of the bird to you."

"Hmph~" Mitsuri turned her head away, but she couldn't say no to Kael.

The following day, a businessman arranged by the Ubuyashiki family arrived to discuss the industrialization of Kael's designs.

The electric light market in Japan was primitive, relying on carbonized bamboo filaments imported from the West. Kael's strategy was simple: introduce tungsten filaments. By upgrading the hardware, he could easily monopolize the market. With the Ubuyashiki's bottomless funding and political reach, the path was cleared.

Kael didn't want to be a corporate slave; he pushed his father to the front as the "CEO," planning to settle back as a wealthy second-generation heir who simply collected dividends.

"Building it according to these blueprints shouldn't be a problem, right?" Kael asked, handing over the schematics for a semi-automated production line.

The foreman's face paled. In an era dominated by manual labor, Kael's demand for semi-mechanized production was like asking for a spaceship. However, under the Master's orders to cooperate at all costs, the man gritted his teeth and nodded. "We will make it happen, Master Kael."

Meanwhile, in a hidden laboratory, Lady Tamayo received the first-generation UV lamp. Tamayo was a demon who had severed Muzan's curse, suppressing her predatory instincts through sheer willpower and medical modification. She only required small amounts of human blood to survive and had shared a secret alliance with Kagaya for years—an alliance hidden from the Hashira, whose hatred for demons was absolute.

"A lamp that can eliminate demons?" Tamayo whispered, her eyes wide with scientific curiosity. She called for Yushiro, the demon she had saved and created.

"Lady Tamayo, anything you need," Yushiro said, his usual cold demeanor melting into infatuation the moment he looked at her.

"Plug this in, Yushiro. We are testing the blood activity."

As the switch was flipped, a gentle violet-blue light bathed the room.

Tamayo let out a muffled groan as a burning sensation blossomed on her exposed skin. But the pain was overshadowed by a surge of hope. It worked. The UV light was successfully replicating the lethal effects of the sun.

"You damned thing! You hurt Lady Tamayo!" Yushiro, seeing her pain, charged the lamp in a rage, only to be hit by the full force of the rays. He collapsed, smoking and flopping like a fish out of water until Tamayo cut the power.

Despite the singed flesh, Yushiro was ecstatic to be useful. Tamayo, however, was focused on the letters. Her correspondence with Kael had become a highlight of her long, dark life. His technical knowledge was profound, and his writing possessed a delicate, thoughtful charm that touched her heart.

Yushiro watched through the door, his heart breaking as he saw Tamayo smile while writing back to Kael. She hadn't smiled like that in centuries.

"Who is this Tamayo? She sounds like a very... beautiful woman," Mitsuri said, her voice dropping into a dangerous, low register. She had found a stack of letters in Kael's study.

Kael didn't panic. He was a Calculating Survivor. "She's a technical consultant, Mitsuri. We're discussing the chemical composition of filaments. By the way, I bought you a few pairs of silk stockings. Why don't you try them on?"

"Don't think you can buy my silence with gifts," Mitsuri said, hands on her hips. She didn't know the stockings were actually for Kael's own visual enjoyment. He was already planning to manufacture nylon—a world without modern stockings was a world he refused to live in.

"I'll add a box of sakuramochi."

Mitsuri's resolve wavered. "This... still won't do."

"Fine. No mochi then." Kael lay back on the bed, limbs spread in a 'da' shape, looking utterly unbothered.

Mitsuri didn't hesitate. She swung a leg over and sat directly on his stomach, looking down at him with mock ferocity. "I said one box! And not one piece less!"

Kael laughed. He knew that for all her jealousy, Mitsuri's heart was simple. As long as she felt his love—and had a steady supply of sweets—she was the happiest woman in Tokyo.
