The sky exploded.
The blast was visible for kilometers in every direction.
The shockwave rattled windows across Musutafu. Car alarm systems went off throughout the city. Birds fled from trees in panic. People looked up from their daily routines, confused and scared by the explosion in the sky.
Inside the USJ facility, everyone stopped.
Students, teachers, villains... Everyone froze and stared up at the sky through the massive hole Akira had created in the ceiling.
The light was blinding. Most people had to shield their eyes or look away.
Then the heat wave hit.
A blast of warm air swept through the facility like someone had opened an oven door. The temperature spiked by several degrees in seconds.
Nia, still in her massive panther form, stared up at the explosion with wide yellow eyes.
"Looks like Daddy is done."
Shigaraki, clutching his severed wrist with his remaining hand, stared at the sky. His visible eye was wide with shock.
What... what is that power?
Total confusion. How is a UA student this strong? He had no answer.
That's a student? A first-year student has that kind of destructive capability?
SLAM
The main entrance doors of the USJ burst open.
All Might stood in the doorway, his face twisted in anger. Not his usual smile.
"I AM HERE!" (Too late buddy😐)
His voice boomed through the entire facility.
Kurogiri immediately materialized next to Shigaraki.
"We need to go. Now."
"No!" Shigaraki yelled like a child. "We have to get that kid at least! The red-haired one! If we can get that quirk to mast--"
Kurogiri didn't wait for him to finish. A portal opened beneath Shigaraki, and he dropped through it, his protests cut off mid-sentence.
The warp villain turned to face All Might for a brief moment.
"Another time, Symbol of Peace."
Then he vanished.
All Might's fists clenched. He wanted to chase them. Wanted to drag them back and make them pay.
But his students needed him.
The facility was still full of villains. All of them scattered throughout the various zones.
"Everyone! U.A. teachers are here! Secure the students and subdue the remaining villains!"
As if on cue, the other teachers burst in through various entrances.
Present Mic arrived at the conflagration zone, his voice quirk at maximum volume.
"YEAHHHHHHH!"
The sonic scream sent villains flying in all directions. Those who weren't knocked out immediately were too disoriented to fight back.
Cementoss emerged near the ruins zone, his hands pressed to the ground. The concrete and stone responded to his quirk, rising up like living things to trap the villains in place. Stone hands grabbed limbs. Concrete walls boxed them in.
"Hohoho, aren't you guys quite bold?"
Ectoplasm appeared in multiple locations simultaneously, his clones working in perfect coordination. One clone would distract, another would strike, a third would bind.
Snipe positioned himself on high ground, the perfect position for a sniper. Rubber bullets found their marks with precision, dropping villains who thought they'd found hiding spots.
Within five minutes, the remaining villains were subdued.
All Might, once the immediate threats were handled, rushed to the central plaza where he could see Aizawa lying on the ground.
He dropped to his knees beside his colleague.
"Aizawa! Are you alright?"
Aizawa, exhausted but conscious, managed a nod. "I'm fine. Healed. Just... tired."
All Might's eyes scanned his body, finding no injuries.
"What about all this blood?"
"The kid healed me," Aizawa interrupted, his voice rough.
All Might's attention shifted to the massive panther creature standing protectively near a group of students.
"And what's that creature?"
Just then, Nia began to glow.
The massive panther form shrank rapidly, the golden runes fading. Within seconds, a small black cat stood where the beast had been.
Nia stretched, arching her back, then looked up at All Might with bright golden eyes.
"Hello, buff man!"
All Might just stared.
Is that... her quirk?
The students who'd been separated throughout the facility began gathering in the central plaza.
Momo appeared from the direction of the landslide zone, her eyes scanning the crowd desperately.
When she spotted Nia, she ran.
"Nia!" Momo dropped to her knees in front of the cat, her hands shaking. "Where's Akira?! I saw that huge explosion. Was that him?!"
Her voice was rising with each word, panic full in her tone.
Nia sat down calmly.
"Don't worry about Daddy. He's like a cockroach."
"That's not--"
CRASH
Something broke through the damaged USJ ceiling, falling fast.
It hit the ground several meters from the group with enough force to create a crater in the ground.
Dust exploded outward.
All Might immediately stepped in front of the students, his arms spread wide, shielding them from whatever threat had just arrived.
The smoke cleared slowly.
A figure lay in the center of the crater.
Red hair. Tattered hero costume, and unconscious.
Akira.
The class's eyes widened in horror.
"AKIRA!"
Momo ran past All Might. She slid to her knees beside him, grabbing his shoulders.
"Akira!! Wake up!" She started shaking him. "Wake up! Please wake up!"
Tears welled in her eyes.
"Come on! This isn't funny! Wake up!"
She shook him harder.
Several of the girls started crying too. Toru's floating gloves covered where her mouth would be. Mina's usual smile was gone, replaced with shock and grief.
Even some of the boys looked away, their expressions grim.
Kirishima's fists clenched. "That's not... he can't be..."
Izuku stood frozen, his mind refusing to accept what he was seeing.
All Might looked down at the unconscious student, shame washing over his features. If I had been here from the start... if I hadn't used up my time dealing with that villain on the way...
Seeing this, Nia sighed and walked forward.
Everyone watched as the small cat approached Akira's unconscious body with.
"Nia, what are you--"
Nia lifted one paw.
And smacked Akira across the face.
Hard.
"NIA!" Momo yelled, horrified.
"Shush," Nia said calmly.
Her claws extended from her paw.
She placed them delicately against Akira's cheek.
"Wake up before I claw that pretty face you're so proud of, Daddy."
Silence.
Then Akira sighed.
His eyes opened slowly as he looked up at the concerned faces surrounding him and smiled.
"That was funny, no?"
The class just stared at him.
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
"Guys?" Akira's smile faltered slightly. "It was a joke. Funny, right?"
Momo stood up.
Her expression was unreadable.
"You look fine Momo... OFFFF!!"
Then she started kicking him.
"YOU STUPID FUCK!" Her foot connected with his ribs. "YOU THINK THAT'S FUNNY?!"
Another kick.
"I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!"
Kick.
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA--"
Kick.
"--HOW WORRIED--"
Kick.
"--I WAS?!"
Tears were streaming down her face as she continued kicking the dumbass.
Nia sat down nearby and started laughing. "Nyahahahahaha.... Oh, this is great."
"Ow! Hey, Momo, big brains, stop!" Akira tried to shield himself. "OW! Not the face!"
Kick.
"I was joking!" He protested. "You know, to lighten the mood!"
"FUCK OFF!"
Another kick landed.
"Please stop!" Akira curled up defensively. "Even though I'm fine, I'm completely out of energy! So please relax!"
Momo finally stopped, breathing heavily. She sniffed and wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
Then reached down and grabbed Akira by the collar, hauling him to his feet.
"Okay, okay," Akira said quickly, seeing her raise her fist. "I get it. I took the joke a little bit too far, but..... not the punch, please, just-"
Momo pulled him into a tight hug.
Akira froze.
So did the class.
Everyone stared.
Mina leaned toward Tsuyu and whispered, "Sus."
"What?"
"Nothing," Mina said, a knowing smile creeping onto her face.
Momo's voice came out as a whisper, barely audible, spoken directly into Akira's ear.
"I don't give a fuck what you do to villains," she said, her voice shaking slightly. "Yeah, it'll take me a while to get used to it. But you're my best friend, and I am never letting you go. Understand?"
Akira sat there, shocked.
He looked at Nia, who was giving him the smuggest look imaginable.
He ignored the cat and slowly wrapped his arms around Momo, returning the hug.
"Understood," he said quietly.
The class gave them space, the moment too personal to interrupt.
All Might watched the scene unfold, his expression softening. These kids... they've been through hell today. But they're supporting each other. That's what it means to be a hero.
Aizawa, still sitting on the ground where All Might had left him, watched with his usual deadpan expression. But there was something in his eyes. Pride, maybe. Or relief.
Nia's tail swished happily as she watched her father and Momo.
After a long moment, Momo pulled back slightly, though she didn't let go completely.
"Don't ever do that again," she said firmly, looking him in the eyes.
"Fake my death or fight a regenerating monster?" Akira asked.
"Both."
"I'll... try," Akira said, knowing he couldn't promise something like that in their line of work.
Momo seemed to accept that, nodding once before finally releasing him.
The rest of the class cautiously approached.
"Dude," Kirishima said, his voice full of emotion. "That was the manliest and scariest thing I've ever seen."
"The explosion was visible from outside the facility," Izuku added. "The amount of energy required to create that kind of detonation... and you did it while exhausted?"
"Adrenaline's a hell of a drug," Akira said with a weak smile.
"Language," Momo said automatically.
Akira laughed, then immediately regretted it as pain shot through his ribs.
"Ow. Okay, yeah, I need to not move for a while."
"You need Recovery Girl," Aizawa called from his position on the ground. "Both of us do. And probably half the class."
"Not really, all I need is rest."
"I don't care. You will still go to her to make sure you are okay. Is that understood?"
Aizawa would not take a no for an answer, and Akira knew it. He sighed and nodded.
All Might nodded after that. "Ambulances are already on the way. We'll get everyone checked out."
"The Nomu?" Aizawa asked.
Akira shook his head. "Gone. Nothing left but ash."
"And the hand guy?"
"Got away," All Might said, his voice carrying frustration. "Teleported out before I could stop him."
"Shit," Akira muttered.
The sound of sirens began echoing from outside the facility. Emergency services rushed in.
The nightmare was over.
But as Akira sat there, surrounded by his classmates, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning.
This isn't over. Not even close.
But for now, he was alive.
His classmates were safe.
And Momo was still holding his hand, refusing to let go.
That was enough.
Nia jumped into his lap, curling up into a small ball.
"Good job not dying, Daddy," she purred.
"Thanks, you little menace," Akira said, scratching behind her ears.
Around them, the teachers continued their work, securing the area and tending to injured students.
The USJ incident would soon make the news, but that was something Nezu would deal with.
Nezu is going to have a field day.
