Cale emerged from the residence with a shine radiating from his entire being, a grin stretching ear to ear. Elon's eyes narrowed immediately—he'd sensed it. That cold woman wouldn't acknowledge most people, let alone have a private conversation lasting over an hour.
"What were you two talking about?" Elon asked, his voice carrying barely concealed suspicion.
Cale smiled smoothly. "Nothing much. Just got to know that we had some acquaintances here and there."
Elon stared harder, clearly unconvinced.
Then his eyes widened as they caught sight of the hickeys scattered across Cale's neck—visible proof of what had transpired behind closed doors.
This Guy!
This Fucking Guy!
'This guy seduced the goddess of the academy, I swear it. I'll follow him as my master for life. Maybe he'll teach me something useful in passing.'
Cale, watching the expressions flicker across Elon's face, thought with amusement: 'What's going on in that idiot's brain? Never mind.'
