They continued forward at full speed. Selene carried Rayden on her back, moving fast through the forest. The baby showed terrifying endurance, not even nauseated despite their pace, making things easier for them.
They kept moving, searching for a human settlement.
But this was the same thing Callack had been trying to do for months now, and he had made no real progress. It wasn't like they were suddenly going to get lucky and stumble into a village by accident.
If anything, they were destined to run into more danger.

Hopefully nothing too far above their league.
For some strange reason, they didn't encounter anything that completely overwhelmed them. That didn't mean they were safe. It only meant the danger came in smaller, sharper pieces, one after another.
The one suffering the most was Rayden.
In Callack's defense, he was still the one taking the heaviest hits. But Rayden's case was different. He was the weakest. Literally a baby. Fragile. Helpless.
