Chapter 66 - 64 Inertia

Inertia.

That was the word. 'The tendency of a moving object to remain in motion unless acted upon by an external force'. Lu Baba's words, not mine.

I heard it for the first time on the day I first stepped foot in his lab. There was a constant 'clink' sound that I couldn't, for the life of me ignore. I soon realized that it was coming from a small structure on a desk at the corner of the room.

There were about five metal balls suspended on strings. The first ball swung into the second, causing a similar motion in the fifth ball. I found it so fascinating that I couldn't take my eyes off it, and that was when Lu Ba explained how it worked.

Inertia. The movement would continue until something else stopped it.

Was that why my feet wouldn't stop moving?

My breathing hitched as I went down the empty streets. Yes, I was still crying, even though I was sure it'd been close to thirty minutes since I left the estate.
