~Two Rooms Away~
Max stood before the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the vast night sky. The darkness outside perfectly reflected the storm brewing within him.
His hands were clasped tightly behind his back. The veins on the back of his hands bulged visibly from the pressure.
His jaw remained clenched. The side of his face still throbbed from the punch Adams had given him earlier.
Every pulse of pain served as a reminder of the humiliation he had suffered and his fists tightened even further.
Anger burned through him like wildfire…it was hot and unforgiving. The more he thought about the confrontation, the darker his expression became.
As though that punch wasn't enough, Adams' words continued to echo inside his head again and again, Each sentence felt like a slap to his face.
What infuriated him most was not the punch. It was the truth hidden behind those words, a truth he had spent years trying to deny yet it seemed as though he could never escape.
