A stunned silence followed. "That's impossible," Mark breathed.
"Well, Kelvin called me personally," Rita replied. "And I trust he wouldn't joke about something like this."
Mark became serious immediately. "Where was the last place she was seen?"
"At the café."
"The same café where you met with Desmond?"
"Yes."
"Alright."
The sound of movement came through the line as Mark stood up from wherever he was. "I'll head over there right now and see what I can find."
"Keep me updated if you discover anything." Rita instructed.
"You do the same."
The call ended and Rita slowly lowered her phone.
This time, Rita felt genuine fear enter her heart. She paced the interiors of her office.
The situation felt terribly wrong. Then the thought of her condition acting up again while she was in someone else's hands made Rita's heart sink.
Wouldn't that mean she would die without a burial ground?
