Chapter 2 - Graduation

[Class]

Dungeon Conqueror - 1 (LOCKED)

[Attributes]

Authority - 1 (LOCKED)

[Skills]

- Conquer Dungeon (Core)

- Conqueror's Suppression

Kain looked at the screen, and soon a smile appeared on his face.

"Yup, all good."

The profile of everyone in this world is unlocked only when a class is unlocked, hence it can be said that it is class dependent.

Not just the content of the profile but everything else as well, including the attributes, is the reason why they are also locked with the class because the class unlocked said attribute.

Speaking of which, locked means the value can't be increased until permanently unlocked, so he can't level up his class and can't increase his only attribute's points.

"Yup, everything is as it should be."

Kain said with a grin, staring not at his class or its skills, but at the only attribute he has: Authority.

And his excitement was reasonable, just the presence of this attribute puts him in the top 10% of all humanity in this world, at least theoretically.

Next, his attention went towards the two skills he gained from the class, first was the core skill which was no surprise considering the first core skill is the same regardless of the class.

His attention quickly shifted towards the second skill, and it is one of the primary skills, which was random unlike core skills and he was glad that he got this at the start, as it was one of the better ones.

"Alright, let's go."

Kain stared at the interface for a few more seconds before closing it, deciding to start with the next steps without wasting anytime.

Yes, he decided not to drown in this success, cause this class was just the start for his journey.

And again, yes, for him regardless of temporary, the class was as good as his.

Which overthinker doesn't plan out what to do after achieving something?

He was most definitely not one of those fools.

He already had a plan to unlock the class permanently.

Let's write it down first.

And, like the good boy Kain is, he decided to write down the plan to unlock his class permanently, his next milestone.

Even though he has stored it safely in his mind, like a storage device.

Ignoring the sarcastic remarks, he was satisfied with his work as he read out the first step.

"Graduate from the academy i.e. leave this place."

The dorm room which had been his base for the past 10 years belonged to the academy, specifically Amber Academy of Amber Academic City State.

This made Kian one of its students, one who should have graduated at the age of 10, but how can he just let go of such a wonderful place, at least before achieving his class.

But finally, like all good things, this place has outlived its usefulness for him.

Kian for the next couple of hours, packed his stuff in a suitcase.

He took only what was necessary, not wanting to carry useless stuff he was going to throw anyway.

Then, he took a shower, changed out of his tattered clothes into a plain white shirt, a knee length coat and black trousers with his utility belt, attached to which was his scabbard containing his sword.

He looked into the mirror, and he saw his dirty grey hair with noticeable strands of black, his azure blue eyes and his health, almost pale white spotless skin.

These were the only noticeable features of his face that Kian could distinguish, though he understood that he looked presentable and attractive, like many of his female classmates have told him in the past.

He took the suitcase and walked out of the dormitory, under the watchful eyes of his fellow students and dormitory staff.

Not many approached him, some even made way for him as if hiding from his gaze.

They call him many nicknames like, the 'Shut In', 'Book Obsessed' and 'The Dorms Pain Guest', each using a different one, some out of admiration others out of envy, but all of them recognized one nickname 'The Only Student of Professor Christoph'.

And it was more of a title than a nickname, a reward for being something which was considered unachievable by many.

Soon, he walked out of the dorm and moved towards the academy, specifically the faculties offices, before stopping in front of a familiar door.

One with the label: Head of Research, Prof. Christoph

Curse the old fart! I am feeling emotional about seeing this door, then my own dorm room.

Kain can't even remember how many times he had stared at this door, mentally preparing himself to face the old fart.

For all his cunningness and past life, the being beyond this door was just that hard to face.

Huuu…

Releasing his breath, he knocked at the door.

"Come in."

An old, raspy voice came from beyond the door.

Kain pushed the door, and there he saw the geezer he had spent working for the past 10 years, well 5 years but he made sure that Kain would consider it 10.

The old man was in his 60's, slender like an old snake with round glasses, sitting on the chair behind his desk with an unreadable serious expression, staring at the file in his hands.

He spared Kain barely a glance, before his gaze returned to his file but then his eyes faltered.

His gaze returned back to Kain, this time holding the faintest hint of surprise, something that Kain himself had seen only a few times before.

"So, you finally unlocked your class? And it belongs to the lord category?"

Kain smiled, this was the passive effect of his Authority Attribute, it releases a feeling of oppression over other individuals, especially those who don't have it and those who belong to the human race.

Though, at one point they just know it's there, nothing more and nothing less, hence those who encountered him before didn't even notice it cause they were not paying attention to him.

"Well, even if you're a bastard, you still have the blood of the noble."

Kain's smile faltered and his eyes twitched as he looked at the old coot with murderous intent which soon turned into a sigh.

There was no point, the geezer didn't mean to hurt him, he just stated the fact.

Though, it still opened some old wounds, ones who don't hurt anymore but whose scars still remain.

"Yup."

He answered, as Prof. Christoph moved on to his next question.

"It must be one of those rare ones who does not require land or territory? If it is then your wait was most definitely worth it."

He was right, Lord/Ruler category classes are made for the human race, but they had one huge weakness, the need of land or territory, in some cases even a title will suffice.

There are few who merged it with something else, like his [Dungeon Conqueror], which does not require any land and instead has effect on Dungeons, though this type of classes are numbered similar to highest ranking lord/ruler category classes like Emperor and King, hence the worthfulness.

Though, it does not mean, they are more useful or useless, they are just free to leave for any place they like unlike normal lord/ruler category class holders.

Kain grinned at that but didn't say anything, cause it was obvious.

"Just tell me, is it a research or academic class?"

Prof. Christoph asked, with a new emotion in his eyes, new for Kain at least, Hope.

"No, though it is suited for me."

Prof. Christoph sighed with a dejected look on his face, but he shook his head and looked back at Kain.

"It must be something really worthwhile, to have made a cunning monster like you to wait for so long."

Kain was taken aback by that, but soon his eyes narrowed down at his professor.

"What? Don't give me that look, you are the only student and assistant I have taken since decades, of course I was paying attention to you. To be truthful, it was also one of the reasons why I selected you."

Kain stared at the old geezer for a while before letting the matter go.

…I guess, even I, someone who is living his second life cannot hide my face from this wicked old man.

He thought, clarifying his own doubts and finally letting go of the matter.

"Regardless, a deal is a deal. You wanted to leave the academy right away after you chose your class and I will honour that, so here."

Prof. Christoph said as he stood up and handed Kain his degree and a file containing the necessary graduation documents.

The geezer had prepared for it in advance to not waste any time.

"And this is from me."

He continued as he handed Kain a cloth pouch with nothing special about it before Kain held it in his hands causing his eyes to widened, staring back at the Prof. Christoph.

"Your presence for the last 5 years might have not been welcomed, but I won't say I didn't enjoy it. This is the reward for staying, very few would have and you are one of them."

The pouch was an item inscribed with dimensional spells, allowing one to carry far more than the size of the pouch, and from what Kain can see it is the size of his own dorm room, which is ample for now.

Kain looked at Prof. Christoph in a new light, showing a warm expression on his face, something which the old coot was not used to, creeping him instead.

"Now, get lost, you little rascal."

The old fart grunted, and Kain understood that it was his time to leave.

"Thank you very much, professor. For this and for the past 5 years."

He said, as he gave a 90 degree bow, a form of respect given only to nobles and masters, causing a smile to appear on the cold face of Christoph.

"Go, you must have your plans."

Kain got his queue, and didn't waste a single moment as he exited the office.

Okay, graduation done, next stop: Information Guild.
