Ren blinked. He knew the disadvantages of being identified as a demon god or something.
Everyone would sing his praises. All attention would be on the only surviving demon god—the hope of all demons. They'd want him to get back to work and save his people.
They would carry him all through the lower realm, singing hymns about how the demon god had come to their land. And then the news would go viral, and everyone would expect the demon god to save them.
Ren didn't want that. He didn't want any of that—the attention and the work that came with it. He had already retired, and now all he wanted was to take a long break away from the original plot of the book!
Not get involved.
He smiled at them as he said, laughing, "You must be mistaken! Me? A god? I would be honored to even be an immortal!" he laughed.
But they still stared at him suspiciously.
"All I did was some basic trick!" he laughed. "Nothing much."
