Kong Mingan's reason for this trip was to find the million-year Spirit Beast known as the Tianmeng Ice Worm. He had thought about doing this before, but other things were more important at the time. He had been busy working on the Imprint spirit tool and the device for making man-made spirit rings.
He was also worried about the Silver Dragon King, so he had put the plan on hold. But now, he could use his new Incarnation method to stay safe. Since he had just learned how to do it, it was the perfect time to try it out.
They arrived at the edge of the Star Dou Great Forest. The forest was full of huge ancient trees that reached high into the sky. Thick vines were everywhere, and the air smelled like wet dirt and wood. It was very quiet, except for the scary sounds of Spirit Beasts roaring far away. This would usually make people feel very nervous and careful. However, a handsome young man and a small young woman were walking through the trees as if they were just taking a fun stroll.
Suddenly, some bushes nearby started shaking a lot. A few Wind Baboons jumped out and started roaring. These baboons were about at the hundred-year level of cultivation. They looked very mean with their sharp teeth and scary faces. They moved very fast, trying to hit the two people with their sharp claws. They thought the two people were defenseless, but they were wrong.
The young woman, who was actually the Ice Empress in her incarnation body, stepped forward calmly. She just tapped her finger in the air. Suddenly, everything became extremely cold. The air felt like it was freezing solid. The Wind Baboons were frozen right in the middle of their jump. They turned into ice sculptures and fell to the ground, breaking into a million tiny pieces.
The Ice Empress frowned and started complaining. She said that this incarnation body was way too weak. She felt like even her breath was stronger than this body. Because her mind was inside this weak vessel, she felt like she couldn't move or act the way she wanted to. It felt very small and tight to her.
Kong Mingan looked at her with an annoyed expression. He asked her what she expected from a mere human who was only a Spirit Ancestor. Even though he was growing very fast and was strong for his level, he was still much weaker than the Ice Empress. The Ice Empress just looked at her hands with a look of disgust and kept complaining. She told him that the shape of the body was bad and that she felt shorter than she really was.
Kong Mingan raised an eyebrow and told her that was impossible. He said he used the exact data from her real body to make the incarnation. He insisted it was the exact same height and size as her. The Ice Empress got very angry and told him that was nonsense. She shouted, asking how she could possibly be this small. Kong Mingan just looked at her with pity and laughed a little bit.
She turned red with anger and kept arguing that the body was wrong. Kong Mingan used his mental force to make a barrier so no one else could hear them. They kept walking deeper into the forest, bickering the whole time. But then, the ground started to shake very hard. It happened so fast that there was no warning.
Many trees in front of them fell down as if a giant had stepped on them. A huge wave of mental pressure hit them like a giant ocean wave. Then, the air got cold and the sky turned dark. A giant, chubby white worm started to come out of the ground.
It was huge and looked like it was made of clear jade. It glowed with a golden light and had ten golden rings around its body. This was the Tianmeng Ice Worm.
The worm started laughing in their minds. It sounded very proud of itself. It said it had finally found a human with mental spirit attributes. It wanted to see what the lucky person looked like. But when it looked at the two people, it was very confused. They weren't scared at all. They were still arguing with each other. The worm thought they should be terrified of a million-year Spirit Beast.
Before the worm could say anything else, the young man put his hand on the young woman's shoulder. He looked up at the giant worm and gave it a very kind smile. Then, two big explosions happened at the same time. The two people just blew themselves up without saying a single word. The explosion was so strong that it left big holes in the ground.
The Tianmeng Ice Worm was just floating there, totally shocked. It couldn't believe they just self-destructed. It wondered if it was really that scary. Then, it realized the energy from the explosion didn't feel like it came from humans. It knew something was wrong and tried to dig a hole to hide in. But it was too late.
A giant dark-green hand appeared in the sky and came down fast. It was huge and strong enough to stop anything. It grabbed the worm and put a seal on it so it couldn't move. Poison Undying came down from the sky. He took out a metal block that was a special spirit tool. The block opened up and made a hole in space that led somewhere else.
Poison Undying picked up the unconscious worm and threw it into the spatial gateway. The worm disappeared, and the hole closed up. Poison Undying clapped his hands together. He acted like he had just done something very easy. He said it was time for him to stop working for the day. His job was to wait for the signal and catch the worm, and he did it perfectly.
He remembered a fight he had a year ago with a man named Mu En. Mu En had beaten him many times with a move called Reign Over the World. Even though he lost, he learned a lot from those hits. He felt like his spirit power and mental force were starting to blend together in a new way. He tried to understand the feeling, but it was hard to catch.
He was a little sad because Mu En stopped fighting him after realizing he wouldn't kill certain people. Poison Undying really wanted to keep learning from those hits. He thought that if he could just understand that feeling, he might reach the highest level of power. He shook his head and flew away. The forest became quiet and peaceful again.
In a different place called the Undead Demiplane, the Tianmeng Ice Worm started to wake up. It was in a special laboratory and felt very confused. It didn't know how it got there. It remembered the two people blowing up, and then everything went black. It realized it had been tricked by someone very smart.
It tried to move its body, but it was tied down by glowing energy chains. It couldn't use its spirit power or its mental force at all. Only its mind was still working. It opened its eyes and saw people standing there. When it saw the young woman who felt very cold, it looked happy. It asked if it was really the Ice Emperor.
The Ice Emperor didn't say anything to the worm. She just looked at it with a grumpy face. She grabbed Kong Mingan's hand and pulled him in front of her. She hid behind him so the worm couldn't see her anymore. The Tianmeng Ice Worm was shocked. It felt like its heart had been broken.
