Crack... crack...
The sounds of something breaking became louder and more frequent as the seconds passed. On the surface of the large, ice-blue cocoon, many cracks began to spread quickly, looking just like a messy spiderweb. Finally, the pressure became too much, and the entire structure burst open with a loud sound.
Countless streams of ice-blue light flew out in every direction. They looked like tiny, glowing fireflies that floated in the air around the room. It was a beautiful sight, making the laboratory feel like a dream. In the middle of all this light, a person appeared.
She was tall and slender, wearing a white dress that fit her perfectly and showed off her graceful figure. Her hair was as white as fresh snow and reached all the way down to her waist. Her eyes were a deep, glowing blue.
She looked down at her hands, moving her fingers slowly. At first, she looked a bit confused, but then she closed her hands into fists. A look of understanding appeared on her face. She had done it. She had successfully turned from a Spirit Beast into a human being.
Kong Mingan did not wait a single second. He stepped forward quickly and took hold of her wrist. He sent his spirit power into her body through his fingertips. He was checking everything very carefully, looking at how the energy flowed and making sure her body was healthy. He needed to be sure that her transformation was stable and that there were no problems with her new human form.
After a little while, Kong Mingan let go of her hand. He let out a long breath and looked much more relaxed. "Everything is fine. The transformation was a total success, and I don't see any hidden dangers at all. Tell me, how do you feel right now?"
The Snow Empress moved her arms and legs a little bit, getting used to her new body. When she spoke, her voice was clear and cold, but it also sounded like she was experiencing something brand new. "It feels very good. It is a very strange and new feeling for me."
She stopped for a moment as if she was checking her internal power. With just a simple thought, nine spirit rings began to rise from beneath her feet one by one. The colors were amazing: Black, Black, Red, Red, Red, Red, Red, Red, and Red! There were two black rings and seven bright red ones.
A huge and heavy pressure filled the entire room. The spirit power coming from her was so strong that it was hard to breathe. It was the kind of power that only a Rank 99 Titled Douluo, also known as a Limit Douluo, could have. She was at the very peak of what a human could achieve.
The Ice Empress stood nearby, watching everything closely. She could feel the aura of the Snow Empress. Even though the Snow Empress was now a human, her soul and energy were still the same. The Ice Empress thought to herself that maybe because the Snow Empress was originally a humanoid Spirit Beast, her face and body did not change very much after turning human.
The Snow Empress closed her eyes to focus on the feeling of being human. When she opened them again, her blue eyes were full of many different emotions. "I can feel it. Some of the heavy chains that were always on my soul seem to have vanished completely. Also, I used to be able to feel when my next Heavenly Tribulation was coming. Now, I cannot feel it at all. It is like the world no longer sees me as a target for those lightning strikes."
The Ice Empress was shocked and spoke up loudly. "What? The Heavenly Tribulation is gone? Is that really true, Snow Empress? Did it actually disappear?"
The Snow Empress took a moment to check her feelings again before she answered firmly. "Yes, I am sure of it. The threat of the Heavenly Tribulation is gone."
The Ice Empress blinked her large eyes. She was so surprised that she did not know what to say. She looked over at Kong Mingan, and the way she looked at him changed. She started to think that this man was capable of doing things that should be impossible.
Kong Mingan thought about this for a moment and then had an idea. "Snow Empress, try to change back into your original Spirit Beast form. I want to see what happens."
The Snow Empress nodded. Her seventh spirit ring, which was red, started to glow with a soft light. This ring acted like an anchor for her body. A soft, ice-blue light came out from her, and after a second or two, the light faded. The Ice Empress felt it immediately. The powerful aura of the ruler of the Extreme North was back. Even though she still looked the same on the outside, she was definitely a Spirit Beast again.
"How does it feel now?" Kong Mingan asked her.
The Snow Empress frowned a little bit. She looked uncomfortable as she spoke. "The feeling of those chains has come back. I can also feel the Heavenly Tribulation watching me again."
It is much easier to get used to being free than it is to go back to being trapped. After feeling the freedom of a human, she did not like the heavy feeling of being a Spirit Beast. The threat of the lightning felt like a sword hanging over her head again.
Kong Mingan nodded. He remembered hearing that Spirit Beasts cannot become gods because of the rules of the world. Those chains and the tribulations were likely part of those old rules. He spoke to her softly, "Go ahead and change back into your human form."
The Snow Empress did as he said. As soon as she became human again, her body relaxed. She had a complicated look on her face. She realized that she preferred being a human now. It was a very strange feeling for someone who had lived as a beast for so long. She stayed quiet for a bit, trying to understand why she felt this way.
Kong Mingan then started to write down all the data about her transformation. He took her wrist again and used his spirit power to check her internal pathways, her energy center, and her mind. He wanted to make sure every little detail was perfect.
The Ice Empress watched them holding hands again. She felt a little bit of pain in her heart, but she didn't know what to say. She just sat there and watched, feeling like there was nothing she could do. She felt quite powerless in this situation.
After Kong Mingan finished his checks, he was finally happy. The transformation worked perfectly, and she could switch forms without any issues. Now, they had to work on the spirit rings and merging their powers together. He looked at the Snow Empress, and she looked back. They didn't even need to speak to know what the other was thinking.
"From now on, just let me handle everything. Don't fight against my power," Kong Mingan said in a kind voice. The Snow Empress understood and gave him a small nod.
Then, while the Ice Empress watched, Kong Mingan stepped closer and gave the Snow Empress a gentle hug. The Snow Empress was a bit surprised at first and her body went stiff, but she quickly relaxed. She put her arms around him and held him back, staying very still.
The Ice Empress watched them and didn't say anything. She felt a bit numb to it all now. She had seen so many strange things today that she was starting to get used to it.
But before she could think more about it, a very bright ice-blue light covered both Kong Mingan and the Snow Empress. The light was so bright that she had to look away. The Ice Empress realized that their powers were merging together right now.
She watched closely as the light began to fade. When the light was gone, a tall young man was standing there. He was wearing a fancy white robe with beautiful ice patterns on the sleeves. His hair was white and long, and he had very fair skin.
He looked a lot like a grown-up version of Kong Mingan, but his eyes and his face also had the cold and beautiful look of the Snow Empress. His blue eyes looked like clear, cold water.
The Ice Empress felt her heart skip a beat. She looked at his face and thought he was incredibly handsome. She found it hard to look away. Even though he only looked a little bit like the Snow Empress now, she found that she couldn't stop staring at him. He looked so perfect that she didn't know what to do.
