Chapter 26 - Chapter 24

After that, both remained lying in bed in a comfortable silence, with the music from outside being the only sign that they were in the middle of a party.

"I must go," Aaron said, standing up and picking up his clothes.

"Already?" Meghan asked, leaning slightly to get a better look at Aaron, a bit disappointed by his response.

"It's late," Aaron said while buckling his pants and checking the time on his phone.

0:00 midnight. He already had to look for Drew and prepare to go home.

"Are you sure you want to go?" Meghan said, getting out of bed and giving Aaron a full view of what awaits him if he stays.

Turning his gaze away reluctantly, knowing that if he kept looking he wouldn't leave, Aaron said: "I have things to do tomorrow," he responded, or rather later, because it was already morning and he had to train.

That drew a slight pout from Meghan's mouth while she slowly lowered her head, making the mood inside the room become somewhat depressing.

"Maybe we can go out sometime?" Aaron asked hesitantly, trying to improve the atmosphere.

That simple question brought a giant smile to Meghan, who in her enthusiasm approached and hugged Aaron from behind, hopping with excitement. Feeling the two bulges on his back, Aaron's mind couldn't help but remember what happened minutes before in this same room.

Slowly regaining her composure, Meghan pulled away from Aaron's body, trying to restore her queen bee attitude, and with a throat clear said: "I'll text you," then picked up the sheet that had fallen to the floor to cover herself.

Aaron, already changed and ready, took his mask and prepared to open the door, but as soon as his hand took the doorknob, something stopped him.

"Wait!!" Meghan shouted quickly as if she had forgotten something.

Then, approaching quickly with her hand still holding the blanket like a shield, she approached Aaron and stood on her tiptoes to give Aaron one last slow kiss on the mouth.

"Don't forget to close the door on your way out," Meghan finished saying while she headed directly to the bathroom, probably to clean off all the sweat on her body, something Aaron also urgently needed.

Shaking his head, Aaron opened the door, being greeted by the sound of loud music and voices of people celebrating on the ground floor of the house. Returning to the room where they were before, Aaron saw that it was empty and assumed that the boys had grown tired of waiting for Aaron and Meghan to return.

So, going down the stairs, Aaron set out to look for the cape of his foolish friend's costume to be able to get out of here. Looking in all directions, Aaron didn't locate Drew, but he did locate the girl dressed as a mermaid who hours before had shared tongues with his friend.

Approaching her, Aaron lightly touched her shoulder trying to get her attention, and she turned and looked up at Aaron.

"Yes?" Sam asked tentatively, not recognizing Aaron.

"Sam, right?" Aaron asked, trying to remember the name of the girl mentioned in the room, to which the now Sam nodded.

"Did you see Drew?" Aaron asked quickly, crossing his fingers and hoping she knew where his friend was.

"Who?" Sam asked, frowning, trying to remember if she knew any Drew.

"He was dressed as Batman, the guy you put your tongue into," Aaron described quickly, hoping that would make her remember who Drew is.

At that description, it seemed that a light bulb went off in Sam's head, finally remembering who the boy in front of her was talking about.

"AH," Sam said, finally locating who Aaron was referring to. "I remember now," she finished saying while explaining what had happened as soon as Aaron and Meghan left.

After that, Aaron heard her ramble about the kiss and what had happened in the room once Aaron and Meghan were gone. Apparently, after both left, the other kids decided to play a few more rounds while waiting for both to return, but after 7 minutes and no sign of both returning, everyone decided to go back to the party.

Drew was with them for a moment until suddenly he said he would go for something to drink a few minutes ago, but from then on he never returned and she didn't know where he went because she assumed he had met someone else.

"Kitchen," Aaron thought, already having a clue where he could find his friend.

Making his way through the crowd of people in the middle of the dance floor, Aaron headed toward the kitchen in search of his friend. As soon as Aaron set foot in the kitchen, he could finally see his friend, but not in a situation he liked.

At that moment, a disheveled Batman could be seen swaying to the rhythm of the music like a leaf in the wind that would fall at any moment.

"Drew!" Aaron shouted as soon as he saw his friend, approaching him hurriedly.

"AAAROON!!" Drew shouted, dragging out the words more than necessary and swaying in his direction.

"What's up with you, dude?" Aaron asked, not knowing why his friend was acting like that.

"Nothinnng," Drew said, dragging out the 'a' while continuing to sway with a glass in his hand.

Suspecting what was happening, Aaron brought the glass to his nose and smelled it, identifying the unmistakable scent of alcohol in the drink.

"Did you drink alcohol?" Aaron asked in a serious tone, staring at his friend while waiting for his answer.

Under Aaron's attentive gaze, Drew had a silly smile on his face while he continued swaying from side to side, unable to maintain his balance.

"Just a tiny bit," Drew said, trying to join his index and middle fingers, implying that he had barely drunk a little alcohol.

"Damn it, man," Aaron grunted at his friend, who was evidently drunk.

"Your dad is going to kill me," Aaron thought, imagining Mr. Deluca's reaction and the disappointment on his face for having asked Aaron to take care of Drew.

"It's not that big a deal," Drew continued rambling, downplaying it in the face of Aaron's seriousness.

"Come with me," Aaron said while pushing a stumbling Drew, taking him out of the kitchen.

"Where are we going?" Drew asked, not knowing where he and his friend were heading.

"To find a bathroom," Aaron said, trying to find one in which Drew could refresh his face with ice-cold water.

"I don't feel like peeing," Drew stammered while trying to break free from Aaron's firm grip on him.

"We're going to throw cold water on your face," Aaron grunted, tightening his grip on Drew's arm.

Seeing that there was a long line to use the bathroom on the ground floor, Aaron cursed while leading Drew toward the second floor, hoping there would be a free bathroom there.

"Come on, go up, dude," Aaron protested, dragging Drew up the stairs, who right now was like dead weight.

"Everything is spinning, dude," a drunk Drew said, unable to step properly on the stairs, being supported by Aaron to stabilize himself and climb.

With great effort, Aaron managed to go up the stairs with Drew, thankful that his friend was much shorter and less heavy than him. Once on the second floor of the house, Aaron set out to find a bathroom; first he thought of the one in Meghan's room, but thinking that Meghan was probably bathing, he discarded the idea immediately, not wanting to bother her.

Choosing a door at random without knocking or anything, Aaron entered, which was a bad idea.

"Ugh," as soon as he opened the door, the unmistakable moans of two people who were very busy in bed were heard.

"Don't stop, baby!!" the girl who was underneath the boy shouted. Then her gaze rested on the open door and on the two pairs of eyes looking in their direction.

"Igh," the girl squealed while trying her best to cover herself with the blanket.

"Sorry!!" Aaron shouted, quickly slamming the door while dragging a dazed Drew.

After that, Aaron opened a few more doors until he finally found a bathroom.

"At last," Aaron sighed as soon as he opened the door and found a bathroom.

"Step aside, friend," Drew stammered, lightly pushing Aaron away while kneeling in front of the toilet.

"Blergh," sounds of vomiting were heard throughout the bathroom while Drew had his head buried in that toilet.

Turning his gaze away, Aaron looked elsewhere while waiting for his friend to finish throwing up everything he had inside.

"Better?" Aaron asked upon no longer hearing the sounds of Drew's vomiting.

"One moment," Drew said, raising his index finger while burying his head back in the toilet, getting rid of the remaining leftovers of what was left in his body.

"Ah ah," Drew could be heard panting as he finished getting everything left in his system out.

"I will never drink again in my life," Drew said once he was calm and his breathing was more regulated.

"I hope you keep that," Aaron said in a flat voice while seeing how Drew slowly got up and began to rinse his mouth with water from the bathroom tap.

"Thanks," Drew said in a low voice after rinsing his mouth to get rid of the vomit taste in his mouth.

"Don't mention it, it's my duty as your friend," Aaron said, grateful that Drew was a bit more lucid, but he still couldn't stand up completely straight.

"What time is it?" Drew asked, not knowing how much time had actually passed.

"Almost 1 in the morning," Aaron said, taking a quick look at his cell phone and seeing that it had indeed taken him an hour to find and drag Drew to the bathroom.

"Shit," Drew cursed in a low voice while frantically searching for the cell phone in his pockets. His face paled more than it already was as soon as he saw that he had messages and missed calls from his father.

"My dad is going to kill me," Drew thought while his finger continued scrolling through the missed calls.

As if destiny hated him or were against him, at that very moment the phone rang again and the call notification appeared on the screen. On the caller ID, one could read: "DAD".

Weighing his options quickly and resigning himself, knowing that if he didn't answer the call it would be worse, Drew hesitantly moved his finger to the "accept" option on the screen and brought the phone to his ear.

"Hi dad," Drew began the conversation with a smile that looked more like a grimace. After that, he stayed quiet while listening to the diatribe his father was giving him over the phone.

"Yeah, uh-huh," Drew said mechanically while subconsciously nodding his head. "I know... yeah, he's here with me," Drew said, only to extend his phone toward Aaron seconds later.

"My dad wants to speak with you," Drew said while Aaron took the phone and put it to his ear.

"Mr. Deluca," Aaron began to say as soon as he brought the phone to his ear.

After that followed what was probably the same diatribe Drew received about the importance of answering messages and staying in touch every so often, ending by saying that he was already coming to pick them up to take them home.

"Understood," Aaron finished saying while hanging up the call and returning the phone to Drew.

"What did he tell you?" Drew asked Aaron.

"He's coming for us now," was Aaron's simple response while turning on his heels and heading to open the door with Drew following him.

Going down the stairs toward the door, both boys could see the Hummer that was parking outside and an impatient Mr. Deluca in the driver's seat.

"Did you have fun, boys?" was Mr. Deluca's question as soon as both got into the car.

"You have no idea, dad..." Drew began, recounting everything there was at the party while Aaron slowly began to feel exhausted and fell asleep in the seat.

The last thing he could hear was Drew recounting the party until he lost consciousness and fell fast asleep in the car seat.
