The night was thick with tension as Lance successfully broke through the helicopter blockade and vanished into the horizon. In the control room, Instructor Viper slammed his fist onto a chair in a fit of rage.
"Start the broadcast. Evacuate everyone from Death Island immediately," Viper ordered, his voice heavy with the weight of the decision.
"I'll make the arrangements," his adjutant replied.
At the base of the Snowy Peaks, a terrifying purple snake head burst through a massive snowdrift. Ditto, in its Arbok form, slithered out carrying a semi-conscious Feng Che. In the moment the avalanche hit, Ditto had wrapped itself around its master to act as a living shield against the crashing boulders.
Feng Che looked at Ditto's body, littered with cuts and embedded stones. His heart ached as he performed emergency first aid before recalling the blob into its ball.
Suddenly, a massive projection flickered to life over the entire island. Every survivor saw Viper's grim face.
"The trial is terminated due to an emergency. All personnel must evacuate Death Island immediately. Our helicopters depart in two hours from the six designated zones. A reminder: the trial is over. Killing each other during evacuation is strictly forbidden. Violators will be executed. Psychic surveillance covers the entire archipelago."
Feng Che reached the extraction zone just minutes before the final takeoff. He boarded a warm helicopter and found Alice and Tianchen already seated.
"I was worried you wouldn't make it," Alice said, sipping a cup of hot tea.
"Sorry, the snow was a bit... uncooperative," Feng Che replied, sitting down.
As the chopper rose, Alice sent a telepathic message. "By the way, what's your real name? Calling you 'Kongjian' feels weird now."
Feng Che blinked. "Wait, you used your real name this whole time?"
"Of course," Alice replied. "Most people here use their names. It's not like the League knows who we are yet."
"My name is Feng Che."
"I knew 'Kongjian' was a fake," Tianchen muttered with a grin.
Tianchen then turned serious. "Feng Che, you need to prepare two identities: one for the light and one for the shadows. If you're sent on an undercover mission, Rocket will forge an identity that can withstand any League background check. But remember: the Pokémon you use in Rocket cannot be used in the League. That's how our sleeper agents get caught—they use the same Arbok or Weezing in both lives."
"How is the organization structured right now?" Feng Che asked, wanting to gauge the timeline.
"There are three main branches," Alice explained.
The Three Executives:Sabrina (Psychic expert/human god), Koga (Poison/Ninja/Assassination), and Lt. Surge (Electric/Explosives/Mercenaries). They are the elite pillars, often serving as Gym Leaders.
The Four Generals:Apollo (Archer), Athena, Lance (Petrel), and Lambda (Proton). Apollo is the strongest, nearly Elite Four level. Lambda is an explosives fanatic who only uses Pokémon that know Self-Destruct.
The Shadow Unit: This is where my family comes in. They report only to Giovanni and enforce internal discipline. They have three 'Titans' who are true Elite Four level.
Feng Che realized that at this stage, the Three Beasts (Sird, Orm, and Carr) hadn't been recruited yet, and the Executives hadn't hit their peak power levels.
Team Rocket Headquarters.
Giovanni was in a state of absolute fury, having nearly trashed his office. "Incompetent fools! All those helicopters and you let Lance escape?!"
Viper cowered, while Koga stood silently, though sweat beaded on his forehead. "Leader, I don't understand how he survived my composite toxin. He shouldn't have been able to find an antidote in time," Koga said.
"Our network is paralyzed," Giovanni growled, rubbing his temples. "How many recruits survived the evacuation?"
"Fifty-four," Viper reported.
"Put them through a final tournament. I want a winner immediately. Rank 1 gets promoted to Major and a choice of a Cyan-potential starter. They will be our new eyes in the League. Use the Shadow Unit to monitor the fights. No outside Pokémon, no artificial psychic boosting. I want to see raw potential. Team Rocket is not a charity."
"Understood, Leader," Viper replied, his back drenched in cold sweat. He had survived the Boss's wrath—for now.
