Chapter 3 - The humiliation

Amethyst bites her lips to stop herself from crying. She's going to get rejected by her crush.

He's the person she has liked her whole life. This guy was once the person who would hit other kids for simply brushing by her side.

She remembered his childish promise of wanting to marry her when they grow up.

"I can't believe how heartless you are!" Vivian's screams brought her back to the reality. She's holding Stella's hand, who looked like she was going to transform into her wolf.

"What's wrong with it? Why do you always side with her?" Stella screamed, clearly frustrated.

"Don't forget that I am the Alpha's daughter. I'll tear you apart and no one will ask me a single thing," Vivian said in the calmest tone. But her calmness was a warning itself.

Stella quickly moved away. She glared at Amethyst one more time before leaving. Evren left with her.

Only after they left, did she understand what was going on. Stella was going to slap her and Vivian stopped it.

She was too ashamed to look into Vivian's eyes.

"Don't be embarrassed, Amethyst. It's not your fault, it's the pack's fault for being so incompetent and shallow that a member has to steal something as significant as this to fill their stomach. On top of everything, they want justice for this, shameless pricks!" She held Amethyst's hand and they both left the kitchen.

"I am sorry, Amethyst."

"It's not your fault. I shouldn't have done that."

Vivian wanted to kill every single person of the pack for hurting her. How silly the entire thing was!

If anyone should complain, it should be her, yet she won't stop apologizing.

Wasn't it their duty to give her food to eat in the first place?

"You don't have to do this anymore, Amethyst. I have enough savings. You can go and live far away from this cursed place. Our pack has given you nothing except pain. You don't deserve this." Vivian was at it again. She has lost count of how many times Vivian has begged her to leave this place but how could she?

She had three people who loved her. She couldn't leave them.

"Thank you so much for everything, Vivian but I still don't want to leave." Vivian sighed. She could only nod her head.

Amethyst was strong, far more strong than she looked. Her strength was her kindness and loving heart.

"How can you be so selfless? Why don't you think about yourself first?"

"I do and I know that I'll be sad after leaving you guys. That's why I won't leave. Now, you have classes to attend. Did you forget about it already? Such a bad student," she said with a teasing smile.

Vivian smiled. That's Amethyst.

"I'll bring something for you to eat, bye." She left and Amethyst's smile dropped.

She was scared to go back to the kitchen but to her surprise, it's empty again. She started doing the dishes. Her stomach was growling.

"Amethyst," a familiar voice made her look at her back. Her eyes were full of guilt.

"I am so sorry, darling. I couldn't do anything for you," her blue eyes were glossy. It's similar to his ones and she remembered her reality again.

"I am sorry, Luna."

She wrapped her arms around her, a warmth similar to Vivian's engulfed her. It's just like the older days.

She remembers how she used to hug the Luna without any hesitation during her childhood but everything has changed. She's no longer the girl with a bright future.

"Eat this, please. I am sorry, love. Please forgive this old lady for not being stronger," and she left with tears in her eyes.

Amethyst looked at the freshly baked cookies with a glass of milk. She loved these as a child. She quickly ate it, afraid of getting caught again.

With each bite, her eyes filled with more tears. She could barely swallow but she didn't want the food to be taken away again.

She choked a few times but managed to finish everything. With her blurry vision, she could see Ava standing there at a distant.

Ashamed of herself, Amethyst looked away. She quickly wiped off her tears and started chopping vegetables for lunch. That day, she didn't come out of her room after lunch.

Vivian knocked on her door a few times but she didn't open it. She was sitting on the floor, her back leaning against the door, and her arms were covering her ears.

Her body was shaking but she was blankly staring at the wall. Ava, Luna, Vivian, and lastly, Evren. Everyone's face was flashing before her eyes one after another.

On the other side of the door, Vivian was leaning against it as well.

Thinking how everyone left Amethyst's side overnight. She was once the beloved daughter of the gamma. Everyone loved her for her bubbly nature but as time passed, they couldn't see past her not having a wolf.

The girl who was there for everyone in their bad times was now a bad omen. After a hour or two, she finally gathered the courage to speak.

"I know you are listening to me. I brought your favourite chicken drumsticks. I'll leave now. Please eat it. I am always there for you, whenever you want to talk."

Amethyst blinked, as if she knew that already. Only after the clock hits 12 is when she finally opened the door.

The package was still there, left untouched. She opened it, it has turned cold.

Strangely, she didn't feel hungry. The food made her remember all the humiliation she went through.

She was used to being everyone's punch bag. They would hit or mock her whenever they wanted to but it's her first time getting caught after stealing.

She did steal food before, that's how she has survived so far and nobody really bothered pointing out, until today.

She didn't know what to feel.

She kept it aside. Her mouth was feeling dry but she didn't have water in her room.
