Chapter 18 - Strong and Ferocious Fire breathing Tiger

"Damn that son of a bitch..." Zerin cursed while charging toward the Fire Breathing Tiger. As a bound familiar she had limited autonomy; however, facing the tiger that could burn any non-evolved being to ashes in just a moment, her expression didn't change.

After the contract most of her powers were unusable, but she still had the experience of someone who had lived for thousands of years. This ordinary First Sequence Fire Breathing Tiger couldn't send any waves in her heart.

"Come and prepare to die under my hands...!"

Zerin loudly proclaimed, her long black hair dancing in the wind, her pale white skin turned slightly orange from the heat radiated out from the tiger's body.

Her words seemed to be filled with some sort of mystical power; instantly igniting the tiger's rage. As an experienced warrior, every single one of her moves was strategic. This was the first lesson that she had learned after surviving countless battlefields.

Respect every opponent and deal with them to the best of your abilities.

Roar! The monster roared in anger as if reacting to her rage. The flames dancing around its gigantic figure exploded outward in the form of a compressed shockwave, scorching the ground and shattering the glass of nearby cars, some of which were flung backward.

The primary target, Zerin, had to bear most of the damage.

Xavier, who was watching this scene from a safe distance, frowned.

As expected, Zerin is no match for a First Sequence monster with her sealed abilities, but her experience allows her to distract the monster for some time...

Xavier analyzed the evolving situation; soon his expression turned grim. As I am now, defeating the monster would be close to impossible... unless I use the first sequence instant kill token.

As soon as his thoughts reached this point, he hurriedly shook his head to get rid of it. No, I can't use the token just yet. I have to save the situation for a crucial situation.

But another voice told him, what was the point of saving the token for later? When the tiger kills him, does he plan to use the token in the afterlife?

Before his thoughts could spiral out of control, Xavier's eyes flashed with solemn resolve.

The token is only for a last resort. I must try something else before...

A plan slowly formed in his mind. The next moment he took a deep breath and started running while shouting, "Zerin, guide the tiger to the forest!"

Zerin, who was trying her best to stay alive, couldn't be bothered to pay attention to Xavier's words. Faint burns had appeared on her skin, even her one-piece dress was slightly burned, exposing her pale white stomach.

While running, Xavier equipped the Warden Runeblade. Although it wasn't an obscenely strong weapon, its special effect that dealt 20% more damage to infected and mutated creatures should be somewhat helpful.

With that thought in mind, he ran toward the spot where he had sensed multiple infected creatures. Currently he was in his weakest stage, with Death Will aura gone after the execution streak was reset.

Zerin, using herself as the bait, managed to attract the Fire Breathing Tiger close to Xavier. Just at this time, the monster furiously growled and slapped Zerin's figure with its front paws.

Bang! A loud explosion resounded. Zerin, hit by the tiger's mighty punch, was sent flying like a ragdoll, coming to a stop when she hit a tree.

She slowly got up while wiping the blood leaking from the corner of her mouth. Her vision was blurry; she knew it was over for her. If only Xavier was a First Sequence being then she would have been able to use some of her abilities. Right now she was nothing but a fearless punching bag, but a punching bag in the end.

Xavier's face darkened slightly; he already expected the tiger to be strong but not to this extent.

The Fire Breathing Tiger was right on top of Zerin, ready to end her existence, the flames soaring from its figure setting the nearby vegetation on fire.

Maybe it was the commotion that the fight created but multiple zombies emerged from between the trees. Their steps were no longer unsteady, no longer looking like rotten corpses. Xavier even spotted a zombie which had a build similar to a prime athlete before the apocalypse, its frame filled with bulging muscles, a long bone club in its hand.

[Strength type non-evolved Zombie Level 23]

[Weakness - unable to react fast]

Meanwhile, Zerin's form was on her last stand. Her form bloodied, multiple burn scars covering her entire body, she gritted her teeth and looked in Xavier's direction with a complex look in her eyes.

He was the sole human whom she wanted to die, but here she was sacrificing herself so he that could survive.

Just as the tiger was about to open its bite on her fair tender neck, she took a deep breath and shouted, "Under no circumstances use your unassigned attributes..."

Zerin warned. She was worried in desperation Xavier might use his attributes points and ruin his future achievements.

She barely said those words when the tiger bit down, taking a large chunk out of her neck.

Xavier had not been paying any attention to her at all; his entire focus was on executing as many zombies as possible. Feeling his speed to be a little slow he had the urge to use some of his attribute points and assign them to agility, but when he heard Zerin's last words his figure froze.

Although he didn't want to trust her words, he had a feeling this time she might be correct and chose not to ignore her words.

[Execution Streak - 10]

Immediately dismissed the idea of using his attribute points.

While he was lost in his thoughts, the Strength-type zombie closed the distance; the large wooden club came flying toward his skull.

Instinctively his body reacted and he avoided the blow by a hair's breadth.
