Hearing Xavier's warning, Aron paused for a brief moment, then cautiously continued. He needed to find out exactly what that monster did to Samuel, no matter what.
The eyes of everyone present were locked on Samuel's bloated stomach. Suddenly Xavier noticed some unusual movement; a faint outline of something moving inside Samuel's stomach started to emerge.
Something was inside Samuel's stomach and it was growing fast.
Sensing the threat, Jackie and Millie unconsciously backed away while saying, "Aron, get back!"
Boom! Their warning came too late. The next moment Samuel suddenly inflated like a balloon before exploding, sending blood and mucus flying in every direction. Aron, who was closest to Samuel at the time of the explosion, had his entire figure dyed in crimson blood.
Buzz! From the cloud of crimson blood, a crystalline blue jewel wasp flapped its wings, its figure unstable as it tried to fly. Compared to the jewel wasp from before, this jewel wasp looked incredibly young, as if it had been just born.
Just one glance, and Xavier's gaze unconsciously moved toward Samuel's ruptured stomach, where his internal organs should have been lay mashed paste, as if something had eaten every single thing away from his organs from inside.
Realizing what had actually happened, Xavier's heart chilled, and a burst of anger filled his heart. Although he did not like Samuel because of his arrogant attitude, what this monster did to him was just pure inhumane. He needed to kill this creature no matter what, or else he would never be able to sleep in peace ever again.
At some point the Warden's Ruinblade appeared in his hand out of nowhere, the blade's runic glinting sharpness ready to reap some lives. As if responding to Xavier's agitated emotion, the blade let out a slight hum.
Xavier didn't notice this as his entire focus was on killing the jewel wasp.
Swoosh!
Just one step and Xavier appeared in front of the newborn jewel wasp like a ghost. "Die...!"
Xavier roared hatefully as he raised the Warden's Ruinblade above his head. Sensing the danger, the newborn jewel wasp tried to flap its wings as fast as possible, its tender antennae buzzing in fright, but compared to Xavier it was just too slow.
Puchi! Like a knife through butter, the runic blade easily split the body of the jewel wasp in two. Thud! The two clearly separated parts fell to the ground.
[Ding! You have absorbed the soul records of Level 5 Mutated Jewel Wasp]
Xavier acted as if he hadn't witnessed the notification but simply stared into the empty air, trying to calm himself down, his face slightly pale.
"What just happened..." Xavier questioned out loud, once again playing the entire scene of events in his head. Indeed he was deeply disturbed by what happened, but even then his own reaction still didn't make sense. He was someone who could accept the apocalypse as something as an everyday occurrence, but this...
When his thoughts reached this point, Xavier realized his thinking wasn't as flexible as he had earlier thought. There were indeed things that he could never calmly accept.
"Are you okay...?" Aron asked weakly, maintaining a distance between him and Xavier. Just now, the look in the young man's eyes made Aron afraid of getting close to him.
Xavier didn't answer but simply nodded his head. He was still for a moment, then said in a low voice, "Three of you go on ahead. I need some time alone..."
Jackie and Millie exchanged glances; both simply nodded their heads. Although they had not properly grasped the situation, something had happened that made Xavier disturbed. It was best to leave him alone for some time.
While moving, Aron performed a slight bow, thanking him for killing that jewel wasp just now. If not for Xavier taking action, the monster might have caught him off guard.
Xavier didn't react, simply gazing ahead. The desolate environment perfectly reflected in his pupils. In the distance, blood-curdling howls of wolves echoed.
In just a few moments, the figures of Jackie and the others completely disappeared, leaving Xavier alone.
"Kekeke... Humans are truly fascinating creatures..."
Just then a charmingly cold voice echoed in his head. From the shadows Zerin's figure emerged, her long black hair flying with the wind, revealing her creamy shoulders.
If it was some other time, this scene would have made his blood boil, but now Xavier felt nothing.
Zerin didn't seem to care about his response; she slowly drifted over to the jewel wasp corpse lying on the ground.
"Of all the races in this universe, you humans are the biggest hypocrites, and also the race that I admire most. I just hope to reach the level of your shamelessness one day..."
Her words caused Xavier's expression to darken. "Can you please go back to your palace? I am not in the mood to joke around..."
The smile from Zerin's lips instantly faded. Ignoring the warning in his tone, she continued in a plain voice, "Tell me, did your heart not shake while killing this poor jewel wasp? She had just taken birth and you killed her..."
"You monster, did you not feel any guilt in killing a living being that had just taken birth? She was not even one day old..."
These words were like a trigger that finally caused Xavier's anger to explode. "Are you out of your mind? Don't you know what you are talking about? How dare you compare this monster to a little baby! If I had the chance to kill this monster again, I will do it again, this time in an even more ruthless way..."
Silence! A suffocating silence descended in the surrounding area with Xavier's words echoing in the distance.
Zerin looked at him intently for a moment, then her cold expression cracked and a smile appeared on her cold face.
"Yes this is it... this is the level of hypocrisy..."
Xavier's face didn't change, a sense of chilling calmness filling his head. Yes, in some cold logical way, her words made sense, after all humans also did the same to multiple other living being without any guild or shame, but he was not a saint who treated all life equally. He didn't need to; for him the life of a human would always be superior to these mindless monsters.
If the world called him a hypocrite for it, so be it, for he could be the biggest hypocrite the world had seen.
