Chapter 68 - chapter 6

BOOK THREE: THE FALL OF THE FIRST KINGDOM

Chapter 6: The Kingdom That Chose to Vanish

The Hall of the First King remained silent.

No one moved.

No one breathed.

The sentence written upon the first page of the ancient white book continued glowing like a living flame.

"The First Kingdom... disappeared by its own choice."

Riva stared at the words.

"No..."

"That can't be true."

Lucien slowly lowered the Blade of Dawn.

"An entire kingdom doesn't simply choose to disappear."

The mysterious figure standing before the crystal throne looked at them calmly.

"Most kingdoms wouldn't."

"But Aurelia was never like the others."

---

The Chancellor stepped forward.

"I warned you."

"The Hall never lies."

"It only reveals the truth when someone is ready to bear it."

Eva picked up her compass.

The needle had become completely still.

It pointed toward the ancient white book.

"Then tell us."

"Why would an entire civilization vanish willingly?"

The mysterious figure gently closed the book.

"Not yet."

"There are truths that must be earned."

---

Aarvi sighed dramatically.

"I knew you were going to say that."

Even the Chancellor smiled.

"Some things never change."

---

Suddenly...

The crystal floor beneath the throne began glowing.

Ancient circles appeared one after another.

Seven in total.

One beneath each of the Six Heirs.

The seventh beneath the mysterious figure.

The Hall trembled gently.

The figure raised one hand.

"If you wish to understand the First Kingdom..."

"You must witness its final days."

The Six Heirs looked at one another.

"Witness?"

Parna asked.

The figure nodded.

"Not through stories."

"Through memory."

---

The circles erupted with silver light.

Everything around them dissolved.

The Hall disappeared.

The throne vanished.

Even the white book faded into mist.

---

When the light settled...

The Six Heirs found themselves standing on a busy street.

Children laughed.

Merchants filled the marketplace.

Silver banners waved proudly above magnificent buildings.

The city was alive.

Not a memory.

It felt real.

A woman carrying flowers walked past Riva.

She smiled politely.

Yet...

She walked straight through her.

Lucien frowned.

"They can't see us."

The Chancellor's voice echoed around them.

"You are observers."

"You cannot change what has already happened."

---

Eva looked around in amazement.

"So this..."

"This is Aurelia before it vanished."

The mysterious figure answered quietly.

"This is Aurelia..."

"...three days before history changed forever."

---

Parna noticed something unusual.

Everyone in the city looked...

Happy.

Children played without fear.

Musicians performed in every square.

Families laughed together.

There were no soldiers patrolling the streets.

No signs of war.

No panic.

She whispered,

"This doesn't look like a kingdom about to disappear."

"It wasn't."

The figure replied.

---

Suddenly...

Church bells echoed throughout the city.

Everyone stopped what they were doing.

Not because they were afraid.

Because they were expecting something.

Citizens began walking peacefully toward the enormous palace at the center of Aurelia.

Nobody ran.

Nobody screamed.

They simply smiled.

---

Aarvi frowned.

"Why are they smiling?"

The mysterious figure answered.

"They trust their King."

---

The Six Heirs followed the crowd.

Soon they reached an enormous open courtyard.

Thousands of citizens gathered peacefully.

At the top of the palace stairs stood a man dressed in simple white robes.

No crown rested upon his head.

No royal jewels.

Only a silver pendant shaped like a circle.

Riva felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity.

"I've seen him before..."

Eva nodded slowly.

"So have I..."

The King's face looked strangely similar to every statue they had seen throughout their journey...

Yet different.

Kinder.

Younger.

Warmer.

---

The King raised his hand.

Silence fell across the kingdom.

"My friends..."

"I have asked you to gather today..."

"...because tomorrow history will change."

Nobody panicked.

Nobody questioned him.

Instead...

Thousands of people smiled.

One little girl shouted,

"We trust you!"

The crowd laughed.

The King smiled gently.

"I know."

"And that trust..."

"...is the greatest honor of my life."

---

Lucien looked at the citizens in disbelief.

"They're not afraid."

The Chancellor answered,

"Because they believed in one another."

---

The King continued.

"There may come a day..."

"...when our descendants search for us."

He looked toward the sky.

"If that day comes..."

"Do not curse our decision."

"Understand it."

---

Riva stepped forward instinctively.

"What decision?"

Of course...

He couldn't hear her.

She was only watching history unfold.

---

The King's expression suddenly became serious.

"There is a truth..."

"...that this world is not ready to face."

The mysterious figure standing beside the Six Heirs quietly whispered,

"And this is where history was rewritten."

Suddenly...

The entire vision flickered.

The King's voice became distorted.

His face blurred.

Black cracks spread across the sky.

Someone...

Or something...

Was interfering with the memory.

---

Eva's compass spun violently.

"No!"

"The memory is being attacked!"

The citizens continued smiling...

Unaware that history itself was breaking apart around them.

Buildings flickered.

People disappeared for a second before returning.

The King's voice echoed in fragments.

"...Protect..."

"...Promise..."

"...Never let..."

The rest vanished into static.

---

The mysterious figure immediately raised both hands.

"Someone is trying to erase this memory again."

The Hall itself began shaking.

The vision became unstable.

The Six Heirs looked around in alarm.

Dark cracks spread across Aurelia's sky.

From those cracks...

Hundreds of black chains descended.

Not to attack the people.

But to wrap around the King's memory.

Lucien raised his sword.

"We have to stop it!"

"You cannot."

The figure answered.

"This has already happened."

"But you can protect what remains."

---

Without hesitation...

The Six Heirs joined hands.

The six fragments of the Heart resonated.

A silver barrier surrounded the King's fading image.

For a brief moment...

The distortion weakened.

The King's voice became clear one last time.

He smiled.

Not at his people...

But directly at the Six Heirs.

As if...

He could actually see them.

He spoke a single sentence.

"If you can hear my voice..."

"...then the Covenant has survived."

Riva's eyes widened.

"He can see us!"

The King smiled again.

"There is only one place where the complete truth still exists."

"The..."

Before he could finish...

The black chains tightened.

The memory shattered into thousands of silver fragments.

The entire vision collapsed.

The Six Heirs were pulled back into the Hall of the First King.

Everyone landed hard upon the crystal floor.

Silence filled the chamber.

Only one fragment of the King's final message remained inside Eva's compass.

It slowly projected a glowing map.

A location no one had seen before.

Hidden beneath the First Kingdom.

Its name appeared in ancient silver letters.

THE CHAMBER OF THE FIRST PROMISE

The mysterious figure looked at the map...

Then slowly closed its eyes.

"So..."

"They failed to erase everything."

Far away...

Deep beneath Aurelia Prime...

An enormous stone door sealed with six glowing handprints trembled for the first time in thousands of years.

Something inside...

Had been waiting.
