Chapter 59 - chapter 27

BOOK TWO: THE KINGDOM BEYOND THE GATE

Chapter 27: The Last War Begins

The moment the Heart of the First Kingdom divided into six fragments...

Every Gate across every world awakened.

The skies of countless kingdoms were illuminated by silver pillars of light. Ancient forests trembled. Oceans rose. Mountains echoed with sounds unheard for thousands of years.

The Gates were alive.

And so was the enemy.

Far beyond the stars, the Devourer stood.

No longer a shadow.

No longer a voice.

It had taken a physical form.

Its armor was forged from darkness itself, with rivers of black energy flowing across it like living veins. A crown of shattered stars floated above its head, and in its right hand rested an enormous black spear.

The Spear of Oblivion.

Where its tip pointed, stars disappeared.

Entire constellations faded into nothingness.

The Devourer looked toward the Throne of Dawn.

Then it took a single step.

Every world shook.

---

Inside the Hall of Choices, the Six Heirs felt the impact simultaneously.

The crystal floor cracked.

The floating doors trembled.

Lyra looked toward the sky.

"He's no longer searching."

"He's coming."

---

Elyon raised both hands.

Golden light spread throughout the Hall.

Around the Six Heirs appeared six circles of ancient runes.

"The Heart has accepted you."

"But acceptance is only the beginning."

"You must awaken your true powers."

---

One by one, the fragments of the Heart reacted.

Riva

The silver fragment merged completely with her Star Mark.

A silver cloak formed around her shoulders.

Her pendant transformed into a radiant emblem shaped like a seven-pointed star.

For the first time, Riva could see every Gate across every world.

She whispered,

"I can hear them..."

"They're calling for help."

---

Lucien

His sword shattered into thousands of silver fragments.

Instead of falling apart, the fragments reformed into a new blade.

A sword of white crystal.

Its edge shimmered with starlight.

Eryndor smiled.

"The Blade of Dawn."

"The weapon of protectors."

---

Eva

The cracked crystal sphere expanded into a floating celestial globe.

Ancient symbols circled around her like planets.

Books she had never read appeared in her mind.

Forgotten languages suddenly became clear.

Eva smiled.

"I can understand every Gate."

---

Parna

Golden vines wrapped around her arms.

Flowers bloomed wherever she walked.

Even the damaged White Tree regained its leaves.

The forests of distant kingdoms answered her call.

Nature itself had accepted her as its Guardian.

---

Aarvi

The mysterious box floated into the air.

Every hidden compartment finally opened.

Inside was not another key.

Not another letter.

A tiny seed made of crystal.

The moment Aarvi touched it, the seed grew into a beautiful silver staff.

Its top resembled a blooming flower.

Lyra smiled.

"The Staff of Home."

"It creates hope wherever despair exists."

---

Orion

His shield absorbed the final fragment.

Silver wings appeared behind him.

Not real wings.

Energy.

Protective light.

He had become the living shield of the Six Heirs.

---

The transformation ended.

The Six Heirs stood together.

No longer ordinary people.

No longer children chasing mysteries.

They had become the Protectors of the Gates.

---

Suddenly—

The Hall of Choices exploded.

The ceiling shattered.

Darkness poured into the chamber.

The Devourer had arrived.

One swing of the Spear of Oblivion erased half of the Hall.

One of the Nine Doors vanished forever.

Not broken.

Forgotten.

As though it had never existed.

---

The Devourer's voice echoed across reality.

"You cannot stop the inevitable."

"Every memory fades."

"Every kingdom falls."

"Every promise breaks."

Riva stepped forward.

She did not raise a weapon.

She simply answered,

"Then we'll make new promises."

---

The Devourer pointed its spear toward her.

"You are still afraid."

Riva remained silent.

Because it was true.

She was afraid.

Afraid of losing everyone she loved.

Afraid of making the wrong choice.

Afraid of becoming Queen Riva.

The Devourer smiled.

"Fear is enough."

Dark energy surged toward her.

Before it could strike—

Lucien appeared.

The Blade of Dawn blocked the attack.

Silver and black energy collided.

The explosion shook every world.

---

"She isn't fighting alone."

Lucien declared.

Immediately—

Parna summoned an enormous wall of roots that burst from the Hall itself.

The roots wrapped around the Devourer's legs.

For the first time...

The Devourer stopped moving.

Eva raised the celestial globe.

Hundreds of glowing symbols surrounded the enemy.

She spoke words forgotten by history.

"By the Promise of the First Gate..."

"I bind your path."

Golden chains formed from ancient runes wrapped around the black spear.

The Devourer growled.

---

Aarvi slammed the Staff of Home against the crystal floor.

A wave of warm golden light spread through the battlefield.

The collapsing Hall stabilized.

The Nine Doors stopped disappearing.

The frightened memories hiding in the darkness found peace again.

Children's laughter echoed through the Hall.

The Devourer hesitated.

It had forgotten that sound.

---

Orion stood in front of everyone.

His wings expanded into a massive shield of light.

The Devourer threw its spear.

The impact shook the universe.

Cracks spread across Orion's shield.

Blood ran from his mouth.

But he never stepped back.

"I..."

"...will not let anyone pass."

---

Seeing their friends fighting together, Riva finally understood Adrian's last words.

Trust each other.

Not the future.

Not the past.

Each other.

Her Star Mark burst into brilliant silver flames.

The six fragments of the Heart resonated together.

A massive symbol appeared beneath the Six Heirs.

Not a crown.

Not a throne.

A circle.

Six stars surrounding one center.

Elyon smiled proudly.

"The Covenant of Six..."

"It has awakened."

Even Eryndor looked amazed.

"I never thought I'd see it again."

---

The Devourer slowly pulled free from Parna's roots.

It shattered Eva's chains.

Darkness gathered around its body once more.

Yet...

For the first time...

It had taken damage.

A thin crack appeared across its black armor.

Silver light escaped from within.

The Devourer looked down at the crack.

Then...

It laughed.

Not because it was winning.

Because it had finally found worthy opponents.

"You have grown."

"Good."

"The Final Battle deserves worthy heroes."

The Hall of Choices could no longer contain the battle.

The walls dissolved.

The floor vanished.

The stars themselves became the battlefield.

Floating Gates surrounded the warriors like ancient guardians.

Every surviving kingdom watched the sky.

The Last War...

Had truly begun.
