Minato Namikaze and Obito Uchiha charged at each other.
The tip of Minato's Flying Thunder God kunai aimed for Obito's center. As expected, it passed through—as did Minato himself, phasing through the intangible form. The moment Minato emerged behind him, a chain—solid this time—slammed into Minato's chest.
Flicker. He vanished, reappearing beside one of his marked kunai planted in the earth nearby.
Minato's eyes narrowed, analyzing. His body… my physical attacks don't connect. It only materializes when he attacks. So the opening is the instant our attacks intersect—the moment of mutual kill. For him, attacking means risk. And considering the time limit for controlling the Nine-Tails… he won't drag this out.It comes down to speed. Whoever is faster, wins.
He gripped his kunai and charged again. Mid-stride, he hurled it.
The blade passed through Obito's head. Obito's hand shot out, fingers stretching, inches from Minato's face. Minato's right hand blazed with a swirling sphere of chakra—a Rasengan.
Obito's fingertips brushed the air. Just a little more. Contact meant instant absorption into the Kamui dimension.
He thought he'd won.
In that split second—Minato vanished. He reappeared at the kunai that had pierced Obito's intangible form. His left hand snatched the hilt. His right—the Rasengan—slammed into Obito's back.
"Flying Thunder God, Second Step."
BOOM. The devastating force cratered the earth, driving Obito into the ground. A glowing formula seared onto his cloak in the impact's wake.
Obito scrambled back, putting distance between them. He clutched his left shoulder. The white Zetsu arm dripped, melted like wax onto the soil. Wounded, but the persona of 'Madara Uchiha' couldn't show weakness.
"A counterattack," Obito sneered, voice strained. "The famous Yellow Flash. Can't let my guard down for a—"
Minato was already in his face. A hand slammed against Obito's chest.
"The Flying Thunder God Technique… A mark!" Obito realized, too late.
A seal-pattern erupted across Obito's torso.
"A Contract Seal?!" Obito's eyes widened in genuine shock. "You're severing my link to the Nine-Tails?!"
"It is no longer yours to command!"
Deep within Konoha, the Nine-Tails' pupils cleared. The Sharingan's grip shattered. Consciousness returned, and with it—pure, unadulterated rage.
Again. The Uchiha. The Sharingan. Controlled like a puppet.
Its roar shook the heavens. Freed from control, its rampage didn't cease; it intensified, fueled by humiliation and wrath.
Qianyu, watching from the shadows, let out a soft breath. "Heh. The first act's over. Now for the finale."
Under Hiruzen Sarutobi's command, a wall of elite shinobi pushed, harried, and bombarded the beast, herding its colossal form toward the village outskirts.
"Don't let up!" Hiruzen bellowed, sweat plastering his hair to his forehead. "Drive it out!"
With his link to the Nine-Tails violently severed, Obito phased into intangibility, putting more distance between himself and the Fourth Hokage.
"Impressive," Obito conceded, his voice echoing from within the swirling vortex of his Kamui. "To wound me and free the beast. But the Nine-Tails will be mine. The means to unify this world are countless for one such as I."
Space twisted. He was gone.
Minato's expression was granite. He wasn't lying.
No time. He flickered away.
The Nine-Tails, now outside the village walls, gathered monstrous chakra between its jaws. Another Tailed Beast Ball.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
With a thunderous crash, the giant toad Gamabunta landed atop the fox, pinning it. But the orb of annihilation kept growing.
Standing on Gamabunta's head, Minato remembered Obito's words. 'The one who will unify the world.' His eyes hardened with resolve.
"I'm sorry, Miyuki…"
"Gamabunta! Hold it down!"
"Easier said than done!" the toad grunted, straining against the fox's might.
The Tailed Beast Ball neared completion. Minato's mind raced. Transferring an attack of that scale… the chakra cost… I'm already running on fumes.
If Gamabunta couldn't suppress it…
The Nine-Tails prepared to fire.
Then—it vanished.
Gamabunta landed with a heavy thud on empty ground.
Hiruzen's breath hitched. "Minato… he took the Nine-Tails away?!"
In the distance, beyond the horizon, a silent flash. Then, a moment later, the sound—a deep, rolling WHUMP that vibrated in their bones, followed by a hemisphere of expanding light swallowing a portion of the distant forest.
Flicker. Minato reappeared in his home, breath ragged, chakra almost depleted. In one arm, his newborn son. With the other, he gently supported a pale, trembling Miyuki Uzumaki.
"Need to… set up the barrier… chakra's…"
Even in her weakened state, veins standing out on her forehead, Miyuki gritted her teeth. "I can… hold on a little longer… Minato…"
Golden chains—Adamantine Sealing Chains—burst from her back, streaking through the air to wrap around the newly arrived, disoriented Nine-Tails, binding its limbs and maw tightly.
From a treetop overlooking the clearing, Qianyu watched, a faint sneer on his lips. Pathetic. Can't even protect his own wife. Has to rely on her, in this state, to subdue the beast.
In Minato's arms, Naruto began to wail.
Miyuki's heart clenched. "We woke you… I'm so sorry, Naruto…"
"Mi-Miyuki…" Minato whispered, his voice thick.
She forced a weak, trembling smile for him. "We have to pin it down… Thanks to the portion of the Nine-Tails' chakra Qianyu sealed within me… I have just enough strength left. It hasn't fully revived yet. This is the only way. Let my remaining chakra… help you."
