Chapter 35 - Instructions

STOMP!

The beast's stomp blasted through the aur accompanied with a sickening force that caused the ground to violently tremor.

STOMP!

Another followed as Vermur barely managed to stand up straight let sooner keep his focus on Pyxlys who was in the middle of a very detailed and tense conversation with Vermur.

[Master Vermur, in order to survive the Tier 4 Horaborra Vigilis. You will need to know and do a few things that will by His grace allow you to even make a difference's chance in surviving this beast.]

STOMP!

[This beast is one kind out of the three categories of vigilis Nightspawns.]

[Since our time before the beast's arrival is thin. I shall explain this beast to you briefly in three statements.]

[One-]

STOMP!

[Do not engage with this beast at all costs. For its species are the 2nd most harmful among the three with their abilities to adapt and evolve through the most outrageous circumstances.]

[Two, you must not in any way alarm the beast that you are here. This is through compressing your dream force.]

[Knowing you don't know what that quite is I'll explain in a metaphor to quicken things up.]

Pyxlus said his voice dripping with urgency as he added, [Imagine that there is something like a ball like shere of light blue air surrounding you right now.]

STOMP!

"Okay~"

Vermur responded as his voice wobbled from the recoil of his body towards the impact of the tremoring ground.

[And then, imagine that this thing is up because of the way you breathe.]

[And so when u breathe heavily it hardens and strengthens as its grows in magnitude. So, to move this sphere like thing your going to have breath slower and imagine something flowing into you like the sharp coldness of this place as its winds passed by you once before.]

"Okay..."

He replied as he then sighed and closed his eyes. He then imagined it. Everything that had just been to this child was being reflected in his head perfectly and played out effortlessly as he refused for even the slightest breathes to distract him.

In his mind, surrounded by nothing but darkness, an alien source of light that shone down upon him illuminated the things he was told to imagine.

And after that, he slowed his breathing little by little as the circular barrier ge had imagined actually disappeared gradually as he did so.

And when he opened his eyes.

[Congratulations, Master Vermur.]

"For...?"

[Getting one step away from certain death.]

"Okay now it just sounds like your teasing me."

[Nonetheless, we need to focus on the present events happening.]

[And with that, the second thing you'll need to do is-]

Tsszt!

The abrupt flashing of the system window before him cut off Pyxlus's statement as it displayed something that made Vermur smile just a little bit more.

Vermur read everything on the system window word for word and as he did his supposedly joyous attitude never came for he had bigger things to worry about like-

STOMP!

The incoming approach of an enemy hundreds of times stronger than he was.

"Uhhh, Pyxlus?"

[Yes, Master?]

"Can I still run?"

[No, not now.]

"But you said i had just a minute ago."

[Well, that was before your status window briefly interrupted us.]

"Oh c'monnnnn! There has to-"

[But thank God that it has. Because we now have a few different approaches that we can take in order to increase your chances of survival.]

"Okay... okay... Okay! Tell me, tell me, tell meee!"

Vermur demanded as his voice went from a cautious hum into a desperate but joyous one.

[One, right now you need to hide!]

STOMP!

As if on queue, the beast's destructive stomp erupted through the ground as it caused even worse tremors than before. Tremors strong enough to destroy the thin winding pathway it crossed upon.

But like the beast, this terrain was no more normal than that so, it would most like explain how this place was enduring this beast's relentless movement.

[Hide Master Hide!]

Pyxlus urged Vermur with a hint of intensity in his voice.

And so Vermur panicked as his head snapped from left to right as it looked for where to take safe refuge from.

STOMP!

The beast grew closer as every step it took caused even harder and tremors making it now impossible for even Vermur to stand on the snowy ground.

The beast drew closer.

STOMP!

And closer.

STOMPPP!

And faster.

STOMPPPP!

And as Vermur searched for where to hide from he saw it. A humongous ominous shadow that stood at a terrifying 250cm above the ground. Its looked alive yet its aura exuded nothing but hungar and death.

Its breathes came like miniature clouds that were swept away by the violent blurry winds of this snowy terrain. Its eyes barely visible shine a bright white hue.

But it seems that its gaze wasn't focused on Vermur. But just for the fraction of a second as Vermur made the mistake of exhaling with a tremor laced within.

And the beast's gaze swept down faster than the piercing cold of this place.

STOMP!

It moved forward once more as it took a look around its surroundings.

And as for Vermur.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

His breathes were forcefully to nothing more than thin gasps for air that were laced with a feeling of fear and a glint of desperation once more.

With a hope, no, witha prayer that this damned beast would just get away from him.

The beast stood there for a while and hence its body became more clear to the naked eye as we now see its head take an ovular shape and three brass horns extend from the middle, left and right sides of its head.

Its eyes now bore white irises that gleemed with same dullness as that of this terrain.

Though the rest of its eye maintained the seemingly endless darkness that it once and always had bore.

Its mouth no a little smaller in length stretched plainly across its lower face and its nose also maintained the same dark brown color but transformed into a button shaped nose.

Vermur took a peek at its face and saw it. The blackness of its eyes. The same colour that once gazed upon him and stripped him of all hope that he bore for his survival and goals.

His goals...

'Hm?'

He hummed in thought as he added, 'What were my goals again?'

As his head raised a little and a pebble was knocked over and strolled down into the beast's direction.

As he glanced over in terror the pebble rolled and rolled and rolled. He closed his eyes hards as he prayed for mercy upon his inevitablely screwed over life.

'Please... please, please-"

Tat, tat, tat!

The pebble stumbled thrice.

Tat.

And once more as it miraculously came to a halt.

His gaze slowly opened as his gaze fell immediately on the beast whose...

"Oh-h-h-h oh no."

Dead hungry gaze was focused on the little piece of prayer that got away.
