Unlike Damien, who was infamous for being frivolous and lustful, Zayne, despite being aloof, was quite approachable to his acquaintances and had a good reputation among other students.
Kurt, who was maintaining the barriers, spotted him as well and spoke out, "Zayne, can you help us? My barriers won't last long."

A second later, those chains binding the zombies suddenly became extremely sharp, cutting the zombies into pieces as they tightened around them.

It made Kurt, who was about to persuade Zayne further, halt and watch him in awe.
The same went for the male and female students who accompanied Kurt.

Taking the school bag from that male student, Kurt offered it to Zayne, "As promised, here's our payment."
Seeing Kurt's sincerity, Zayne frankly didn't need their supplies as he could conjure any food and water he wanted.
