Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14: STRANGER IN A CART PART 2

Of all questions he had to ask the one I can't answer!-I have to say something before he gets suspicious. "Uhhh", I've tried my best not to think about the stupid bead I swallowed. Think damnit! "That's not something I can just tell too", I should let him know I'm not on the ru-

He's right in front of me! I quickly push my self to the back of the cart. "Are you a run-away?", Hewlett asks. I saw him rotate back and stand. He moves like a plastic in the wind- "I asked you a question... are you a run away lycan?", his determined blank stare pinning me to the edge of the cart.

"No I'm not!", What's with this change in personality. Wait what is he looking at? I look beside me, black smoke. It's the creepy book! I must've touched it! I throw myself behind Hewlett, grabbing him by his ankle.

"Hey! I'm not done questioning you!", He might do something about the creepy book. I really hope I didn't inhale any of that black smoke.

The book rustles until the strap latches off. "I honestly thought you were lying about what you just said and stole this somehow. Then again seeing how weak you were against that other lycan", He walks closer to the creepy book, without me, and sits beside it, "It makes sense that you were given a grimoire this high grade".

"What did you just say?", I want to be sure I heard him correctly.

"What's wrong? You mean about the grimoire or you being weak?".

Well that was harsh, I'm not that weak, "No, about the guy I fought, the psycho...", I wave around my arms trying to imitate Benson.

He squints his eyes at me as if trying to understand what I mean, "Him being a lycan like you?"-

"You said lycan!", I point out, wait but, "How could you tell?". Is he a lycan too? Is there something that screams lycan about us.

"You are more suspicious than me for having a high grade grimoire, a mission you can not seem to tell me the details about and not knowing what a lycan looks like when you're a lycan yourself", Each point making my heart beat faster than the last. Are we about to fight?

"Trusting the wrong people...because I was desperate for help is why I'm being careful now", I don't think I should let him know about Master Dell. But maybe he could help me with the creepy book.

"Of all things that could hear me clearly it had to be a lycan", He says in an even softer tone. "Come". He looks at me. "The grimoire will close if I touch it".

"You do know that book had black smoke coming out of it a few seconds ago right?", Am I the only one who saw that.

"So you are not afraid that it moved but that black smoke was gushing out of it?", Well...I don't want to talk about it.

I walk to the book, trying my best to hide my shivering legs.

"Even what is written, the one who it is not meant for cannot see", Hewlett let's me know as if trying to put me at ease.

The book says;

'To my dear student,

You would have turned by the time this grimoire opens again. Try not to kill anyone in your lycan form. You can't control it on your first try Yori, and even if things don't go your way, feeling disappointed is what will push you further. And don't go embarrassing me calling this a book. It's a grimoire'.

 Sincerely,

 Your Master.

"That's all!", I slam the book shut. "I don't know what to do with myself like this!". Why wouldn't he ever say anything about me being a black lycan? Did he need more time?

"Your emotions are beginning to heighten. It must have been your first time transforming".

People! They're definitely dangerous!

I turn to tell Hewlett to let him know. He's already looking in their direction. "Speak of bad timing", He says under his breathe. "First a newly transformed lycan who knows nothing about what he is and now I am being tailed".

"Ugghh", He sighs out loud. "Before I take care of them at least tell me what your name is?".

"Huh?", I forgot to tell the person that saved me what my name is! "I'm Yori!", Master is definitely tossing me on a cloth-line and beating me if he hears this.

"Odd name", Says someone named Hewlett. It doesn't sound like a name given to someone from Drhoesia. I mean neither does mine but I didn't say that to his face.

Hewlett stops the cart and jumps off, his white robe with golden seams of vines around it flutters. There he goes around like a plastic in the wind again.

A few arms in front is a group of junkies who've shown themselves, carrying machetes. Hewlett slowly walks towards them, I could sense from the minute I woke up, that he isn't something to be messed with. The wind around starts to pick up in speed, twigs and small rocks begin to follow it. I duck down and hold on to Master's grimoire as more debris get carried.

"What is that?!" , I hear one of the junky men shout.

"Who sent you here?!", Hewlett asks in a hollowed annoyed tone. No one answers. I could tell they couldn't hear him because of his soft voice. I look up to see him, squinting my eyes from the flying debris. He really does remind me of Master, he then rushes towards the junkies, they've got their eyes completely closed from the amount of debris he has circulating them. How can he see though?

It's as if there's a barrier around him bouncing the debris away. He then hits each of them by their neck, knocking them all out. The twister settles. But why'd he turn towards me so. Oh no-

I jump off the cart-grimoire in hand-to the ground in front of the ox.

I barely catch the glimpse of something crashing down on the cart. Black fur.

"Get out the way!", Hewlett shouts as a large tornado appears, cutting the ox and us from whatever crushed into the cart.

My heart beat escalates along side my breathe in seconds. I look to my hand filled with goosebumps holding Master's grimoire-

"We need to leave right now!", Hewlett holds me by my shoulder, "Hey!", his fingers snap, pulling me out of my cluttered mind. "I said we need to get out of here!". I nod. I know that scent!

I hold Master's grimoire in my mouth and run on all fours. I can't face him. Why is he here?! How did Benson find me?!
