The sound of fire crackling was all that could be heard from the remains of the Orphanage.
Charred remains of children and women were indescribable, no one would be able to tell who was who's corpse, not anymore. The building was no better, burned to the ground, the smoke it created leaving the sky with a blood orange hue
Wyatt just stood there, heavy breaths escaping his lungs, staring at the sky.
Sister Lucy, who didn't look the least disturbed by the corpses of women and children, just eyed Wyatt like he was a prey, waiting to be hunted.
Suddenly Wyatt snapped upright and let out a bone chilling shriek. If the others were alive, their eardrums would have surely been destroyed.
"Shut up foul creature!" Sister Lucy raised her hand and suddenly Wyatt's body was pushed into the ground, going deeper and deeper by the second.
He thrashed around like an animal despite his whole body plunging deeper into the earth and even sister Lucy could feel it, the monstrous strength he now possessed.
'He's like a wild beast or something.' sister Lucy thought as she struggled to hold him down with her powers.
Eventually Wyatt managed to break the invisible force with a loud roar, he stood up panting and looked straight at his opponent.
Sister Lucy unconsciously took one step back, Wyatt was crouched low in front of her, fingers grazing the ground drool escaping his mouth. But that wasn't what terrified her, it was the look in his eyes, his piercing red eyes were locked onto her, unwavering. His eyes carried no sense of self, the thing in front of him wasn't a boy...it was an actual demon.
"Wyatt boy, aren't you scared?" She taunted. "Remember all those times I gave you a good beating?"
No response.
"Well this is the same, just with more effort." She continued either ways, but still Wyatt didn't respond, he just stared into the open space.
"What happened to him?" Sister Lucy asked out loud. During her years as a reverend she had seen a lot of things, but never this. "It's like he's... possessed."
Wyatt's head snapped to the side Immediately she said those words and he ran forward.
Sister Lucy thought she was prepared for anything but she was sorely mistaken, this wasn't the Wyatt she knew and the new found speed he displayed made sure she knew that as well.
He covered the distance between them, about fifty meters, in mere seconds, his clawed hands ready to rip Sister Lucy's face apart.
She had barely managed to put up a barrier in time, and this cost her, she was flung off balance the moment they made contact, pushed back and falling on her back, leaving her open again.
Wyatt went on all fours and started another dash, but this time he didn't run in a straight line, he was moving like a blur, running from the ground to jumping off trees.
'What is this?' Sister Lucy thought as she jumped back in her feet, ready to defend herself. 'Why didn't he go for the attack?'
She watched Wyatt's form dance around her in a blur as she narrowed her brows. 'impossible, did...did he sense it?'
It was a horrid thought.
The moment she fell in the ground she readied her invisible barrier, condescending it, sharpening it into an invisible attack. She waited for him to come close, hoping to catch him off guard and kill him in one smooth strike.
But he didn't take the bait, if he could indeed sense her attacks then this was going to be trouble.
Sister Lucy narrowed her brows trying her best to follow Wyatt's speed, an almost impossible task. Out of frustration she threw out her invisible attack anyways hoping to hit him by sheer luck.
A mistake.
The moment she flung her hand, not only did her attack miss but it also provided an opening to her sides, an opening Wyatt took immediately.
He quickly dashed to her sides and took a large swipe, leaving her with a large wound and dashing out immediately.
"Stupid insect." Sister Lucy cried out in pain. "I'll kill you!"
This wasn't just instinct anymore,
"Kekeke..." A disturbing sound carried across the area.
"What the.."
"Kekekekeke!" Wyatt's mouth stretched wide in a twisted laugh, his extended canines catching the moonlight.
Her blood ran cold "Did he just... laugh?"
She didn't have time to ponder on the thought though as Wyatt was ready to move again.
He ran straight forward this time, fist curled into a deadly punch. Sister Lucy raised both her hands, raising her protective barrier in between them.
Wyatt didn't care he launched his fist straight ahead and hit an invisible force before his attack could reach sister Lucy.
"Hng!" A struggle escaped Sister Lucy's lips, the punch was stronger than she expected, much stronger. Wyatt on the other side had a large smile on his face, there was a struggle of power for a while before Wyatt's fist won out and pushed sister Lucy back again.
She slid through the ground for a good while before she managed to steady herself, she barely had time to regain her footing but when she looked up Wyatt was in striking distance yet again.
"How?" Her eyes widened, how was he this fast. She had barely set up another barrier when Wyatt's fist collided into it again.
A loud bang and sister Lucy was sent flying for the third time in this fight.
Quickly Wyatt jumped from tree to tree and landed behind her fist ready yet again.
Sister Lucy by sheer will power managed to twist her body to face him and set up a barrier as quickly as she could, but there was a problem, the less time she took to erect a barrier the weaker the barrier, and she had set this one up rather quickly.
Smash!
The moment Wyatt touched the barrier it shattered and his fist connected to the airborne Sister Lucy, launching her farther than she had been sent back in her entire life.
She landed and coughed up a mouth full of blood. Her insides felt like cotton candy, her sides stung from the wound inflicted earlier and her head was spinning.
'One more hit like that and I'm dead.' she thought desperately. 'Something's off. Earlier he fought like a wild animal just slashes and head on attacks, now he can dodge and execute planned out attacks. It's like he's regaining his sense of self, no he's something more, a threat. No matter, after all he's not the only threat here.' she thought with a smile as she looked at Wyatt.
Wyatt stood there with a smile, his eyes glowing red and extended canines in full display looking like real monster.
But something was wrong, slowly looking down his smile faded, his right arm was broken, twisted in an unnatural way.
When he punched sister Lucy, she herself had launched an attack, she aimed to remove his arm with her invisible strike but the punch had thrown her off trajectory resulting in a broken arm.
"You might be a monster, Wyatt boy. But I'm still the better one-"
"Kekeke!" Sister Lucy's sentence was interrupted by Wyatt's laughter.
"Kekekekekekekekekekeke!" He laughed uncontrollably, flinging his head up, letting the demonic sound float through the air. Sister Lucy could feel the laugh deep in her stomach and it was a bad feeling.
Still laughing, Wyatt held his broken hand with his left hand, and without taking his eyes off the sister in front of him, twisted in back into place with a sickening snap.
The gesture shocked sister Lucy to her very core. Superior strength, impossible speed, and instantly regeneration. There was no way she could possibly win.
"I'm fucked." She said out loud, turning around to run from the frightening Wyatt.
"Now, now, is that any way for a woman of God to speak."
Sister Lucy froze. Those words, there was no one else around, only one person could have possibly said it.
Turning around slowly she could see Wyatt with the same smile, but there was something different, his eyes. His eyes weren't the ones of the wild beast from earlier, it wasn't the eyes of the Wyatt she knew, this was the eyes of a new presence, a new evil.
"Imagine my surprise waking up and of all things I see a person with angelic power." Wyatt, no, the new presence said slowly while examining his surroundings. "Now, if you would be a darling and tell me where exactly it is you got that power from and why I am here." He turned to sister Lucy smiled so wide his eyes were almost closed.
