By the time Ezra woke up, it had already become nighttime.
The room was dark, illuminated only by the soft glow of moonlight spilling through the large window.
And Lior was in his arms.
The little boy was hugging him tightly even in his sleep, one small hand clutching the front of Ezra's shirt as though afraid he might disappear.
The sight immediately filled Ezra with guilt.
'Did he tuck himself in?'
Ezra felt disoriented.
Exhausted.
Sick.
His entire body felt heavy.
Like someone had replaced his bones with stone while he slept.
He frowns as he gently caresses Lior's hair.
"I feel like this is becoming a common occurrence between us," he whispers.
Carefully, he presses a small kiss against the top of Lior's head before slowly sitting up.
Lior only mumbles something incoherent and snuggles deeper into the blankets.
The sight almost convinced Ezra to stay in bed.
Almost.
But from the corner of his eye, he noticed something sitting near the dresser by the window.
