Chapter 63 - Hamesh Avanim

Jason looked at King David and the [Ark of the Covenant] behind Atalanta, subconsciously touching his chin and narrowing his eyes.

The Ark of the Covenant was not some exquisite-looking small box, but an object about the size of a coffin.

The main body of the box, once touched, would cause the person touching it to turn directly into dust. It was a mechanism kill in every sense; even Heracles couldn't resurrect again using his own Noble Phantasm.

Therefore, if one wanted to move the Ark, one could only rely on the two poles supporting it. Only by keeping the Ark balanced on the poles could the people carrying it avoid dying instantly.

Faced with this Noble Phantasm that required either two people carrying it together or a single person relying on Strength to move it while maintaining its balance, even as the owner of this Noble Phantasm, King David couldn't use it like a normal Noble Phantasm. Using it for combat was out of the question.

And not being able to use it normally was one thing, but even if King David died, he couldn't take it away.

It could be said that since this Ark appeared in this Singularity, it became an ownerless object. Whoever could take it away, it belonged to them.

"—You want to use the [Ark of the Covenant] to deal with Heracles, right? Indeed, if it's that thing, one careless moment and Heracles would be reduced to ashes..."

"But, don't underestimate my intelligence network!"

Looking at the astonished gazes of David and Atalanta, the corners of Jason's mouth curled up wildly.

Just kidding. Since he had made plans to snatch the Ark first and even stayed up all night to rush over for the operation, how could Jason not do some homework in advance?

The Ark was the only thing in this Singularity that posed a threat to Heracles. Even if Jason didn't care about Heracles' life, he would care about his own little life!

"Heracles, be careful not to touch that golden box. As for those two people, just kill them directly!"

Jason ordered Heracles directly.

He had no intention of micromanaging. He just needed to give Heracles a slight reminder, and leave the rest entirely to Heracles himself.

After all, when it came to fighting, Heracles was much, much stronger than him.

"■■!"

Heracles roared upon hearing this, red light flickering in his pupils, looking murderously at the two Archers ahead.

"What should we do now?"

Atalanta stared at Heracles' movements, asking the person beside her without looking away.

As one of the fellow Argonauts, she knew all too well how strong Heracles was. Even if he manifested in the Berserker class, which wasn't suitable for Heracles, Atalanta didn't think she would be a match for the strongest great hero in Greek mythology.

At most, she could probably rely on the power of her Noble Phantasm to trade for one of Heracles' lives?

"You should know this better than me, right? If you don't know what to do, what can I do?"

King David spread his hands and said helplessly.

If Heracles' Noble Phantasm were a normal type, he could use his own Noble Phantasm to disable Heracles' Noble Phantasm.

But unfortunately, Heracles' Noble Phantasm was abnormal. [God Hand: The Twelve Labors] was like Siegfried's [Armor of Fafnir]; it was rooted in his Spirit Origin, something like a bloodline, and couldn't be regulated or stolen.

As for the axe-sword in Heracles' hand... it was hard to say if that Noble Phantasm really had any use. After all, [Nine Lives: Shooting the Hundred Heads] was more accurately described as a combat technique rather than a Noble Phantasm.

"Tch, shouldn't have asked you."

Atalanta pouted unhappily. Having expectations for this somewhat frivolous man was her problem.

But the critical nature of the [Ark of the Covenant] meant the two of them couldn't easily give up. No matter what, they couldn't just watch helplessly as it was taken away.

"No choice, we can only stall for now and see if reinforcements come to help us."

Just as the two finished speaking, the man akin to a god rushed over like a human cannonball. Even the air wailed as it was smashed by his steel body.

"Watch out! Here he comes!"

Seeing this, the two who had been staring at the opponent's movements hurriedly jumped away from their spots.

The not-so-short distance between the two sides was crossed by Heracles in an instant, and the giant axe in his hand slashed down heavily with the momentum.

Under Heracles' brute force, the dirt and stones where the two had just stood were smashed and splattered everywhere. Just a normal attack left a deep pit on the ground large enough to bury a person.

The two narrowly dodged Heracles' sudden attack. Just as they landed, Heracles started moving again.

Heracles' figure flashed, appearing in front of David the next second, the axe blade raised high, looking like it was about to smash down.

Intuition told Heracles that the male was more dangerous, so his choice was simple: attack the more threatening David first.

Facing Heracles' relentless pursuit, David unhurriedly held his staff with both hands, blocking Heracles' attack path.

Clang!

The weapons of both sides clashed. After a momentary stalemate, David was knocked back more than ten meters by Heracles' terrifying strength.

"Oh my, seems I'm indeed not a match for this Heracles in terms of strength..."

After stabilizing his body, David shook his hand, which was a bit sore from taking Heracles' attack head-on, a slightly regretful expression on his face.

"What are you regretting? Being approached like that and still being unscathed, even though you're just an Archer..."

Watching all this, Atalanta drooped her eyelids, looking at him very unhappily.

Apologize to the proper Archers who can't fight in melee! Bastard!!

"I was just summoned in the Archer class; my original professions were King and Shepherd."

David shrugged.

Who would have thought that without even a bow, just throwing a few stones would lead to being hastily designated as an Archer?

"But what happened just now was my limit. Winning in melee combat is almost impossible.

So let's honestly show the primary job as an Archer!"

David blocked Heracles' chain attacks again. After putting some distance between them, he pulled out his Noble Phantasm from his bosom—

Five stones.

That's right, this Noble Phantasm was that hasty. And the medium used was also quite hasty; just picking up any five stones on the ground allowed him to use it without hindrance. Even the method of use was quite unadorned.

David looked like he was preparing to skip stones, shaking the stones in his hand, gathering a bit of strength, and then throwing them out.

The stones, covered in a dim light, shortened the distance between him and Heracles with inexplicable speed. Finally, they hit Heracles quite ordinarily, who wanted to dodge but found he couldn't no matter what.

Four of the stones smashed near Heracles like tracing the outline of a human body, and only the last one truly hit.

For this action that seemed as ordinary as a child throwing stones at birds, no one present would think it was dangerous—except for Heracles, who was hit.

Thus, under everyone's silent gaze, the powerhouse with a steel body fell, right in front of them.
