Wood glanced at Hughes. The red-haired young man shrugged with an air of indifference, clearly having understood Wood's intent and agreeing with this direction.
After receiving the response, Wood instructed the driver to head to the seamstress's shop first to drop Perry off. Hughes volunteered to accompany Perry to ensure his safety and to take the opportunity to ask a few more questions, while Alex and Wood returned to the Police Department to find Glen and follow up on the autopsy results.
As soon as they stepped through the grand, imposing gates of the Police Department, the two of them sensed that something was slightly off. The atmosphere of the entire station had changed, becoming more solemn and tense than usual. A young officer who knew Wood leaned in close, his face anxious, and whispered a reminder: "The Royal Inspector has arrived. He is currently in the meeting room with the Chief."
Alex frowned and looked toward Wood, feeling an invisible pressure.
