Chapter 62: Stomping the Head
Nobunaga and Machi, trapped outside the Four Violet Flames Formation, launched furious attacks against the barrier.
Nobunaga's blade struck the purple flame wall but couldn't penetrate an inch. Machi's Nen threads ignited the moment they touched the barrier, burning to ash in seconds.
Their faces turned grim.
Meanwhile, Chrollo and the other Spiders emerged from the shadows.
Their original plan was to find Ronin's hidden allies and encircle him. But seeing Ronin waiting alone in the desert, they realized he had prepared something far more troublesome.
The four figures maintaining the barrier were mysterious. Their aura signatures were identical to Ronin's, but their appearances were different.
Trapped outside, the Spiders were forced to watch helplessly as Ronin dismantled Uvogin piece by piece.
Chrollo clenched his fist.
He asked himself: If I fought the current Ronin one-on-one, would I be guaranteed to win?
The answer was no.
He wasn't confident.
Uvogin was arguably the strongest frontal fighter in the Troupe. Even with one arm missing, his combat power was immense.
Ronin wasn't kiting him with fire anymore. He was engaging Uvogin head-on in a melee brawl. And he was dominating.
This wasn't just a display of strength; it was a psychological execution. By trapping Uvogin in a transparent cage and slaughtering him in front of his family, Ronin was humiliating the Spider.
Feitan's narrow eyes snapped wide open.
Rage surged through him. Even though he often bickered with the "big idiot," Uvogin was a founding member—a brother who grew up with him in Meteor City.
"!llik uoy lliW I" Feitan spoke in inverted tongue, venting his fury.
Franklin's response was simpler.
He popped the tips of his fingers open.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
A relentless stream of Nen bullets hammered the barrier.
Every barrier has a threshold. Franklin believed that with enough sustained firepower, anything could be broken.
Inside the barrier.
Uvogin's remaining arm flew into the air.
His vision began to dim. When Ronin ripped his intestines out, Uvogin knew he had lost.
In that moment of despair, he made a choice: To end his own life.
Yes. Suicide.
Since leaving Meteor City and learning about the wider world of Nen, he knew about a special power.
A power that becomes stronger after death.
It was the ultimate Condition and Vow.
Uvogin's Vow—his obsession—was to kill Ronin. For this, he was willing to sacrifice his life.
But... he failed.
He raised his arm, intending to crush his own heart to trigger the curse. But Ronin was faster.
Before Uvogin could strike himself, Ronin severed the arm with the One-Finger Nukite.
Losing his last limb, a sliver of doubt crept into Uvogin's mind.
Even if I die now... can my corpse kill him without arms? Can Post-Mortem Nen overcome a gap this wide?
The moment that doubt appeared, Uvogin truly lost. His resolve wavered.
The lightning danced around him. The One-Finger Nukite became a scalpel, dissecting Uvogin's body.
Thighs. Chest. Heart. Eyes.
Finally, Ronin ripped the disfigured head from the neck.
Blood and body parts were scattered across the sand. The lightning Chakra faded from Ronin's body.
He was breathing heavily, but his eyes were bright and cold.
Holding Uvogin's head by the hair, Ronin turned to face the Phantom Troupe outside the barrier.
A wide, savage grin spread across his bloodstained face.
He tossed the head lightly into the air.
As it landed, Ronin channeled Ko into his foot and stomped down with crushing force.
SPLAT!
Just like Uvogin had crushed his father's skull in the rainy forest, Ronin crushed Uvogin's head into paste.
Right in front of the Spiders.
Does the Spider feel pain? Probably...
They must have known this day would come.
Outside, the Spiders attacked the barrier with renewed frenzy. Cracks began to appear in the purple flames.
However, Ronin knew the truth. It wasn't their attacks breaking the barrier; it was his Shadow Clones running out of Chakra.
Franklin was right—sustained bombardment accelerated the clones' energy consumption.
But Ronin didn't care.
His aura vanished again. His hands formed a seal.
Earth Style: Ultralight-Weight Rock Technique.
To the shock of Chrollo and the others, Ronin slowly floated up into the air, defying gravity.
"Is this his true trump card?" Chrollo watched with a stoic expression, though his mind was racing.
Flight.
If he was agile in the air, he was untouchable.
Every time they encountered Ronin, he revealed a new, troublesome ability.
Chrollo felt a strange frustration. Ronin was the type of opponent he hated most—unpredictable. No matter how much Chrollo planned, new variables always appeared.
He preferred to strike only when victory was 100% assured. Betting on luck wasn't his style.
Crack... Shatter!
The Four Violet Flames Formation finally shattered under the Troupe's assault.
Several Spiders blurred into motion, rushing toward the four corners where the clones stood.
But the four clones acted in unison. They smashed spheres onto the ground.
Poof!
Thick smoke erupted, engulfing them. When the Spiders charged into the smoke, their attacks hit nothing. The clones had dispelled themselves.
Simultaneously, Franklin adjusted his aim. A stream of Nen bullets shot skyward, tracking the ascending Ronin.
But Ronin was ready.
He opened his mouth, converting Chakra into Earth nature. He spat out a massive glob of clay that expanded rapidly in mid-air.
Earth Style: Golem Technique.
It was a technique created by the Second Tsuchikage—perfect for defense and offense.
The Golem wasn't affected by the anti-gravity jutsu. It shielded Ronin instantly and plummeted toward the ground like a meteor.
Franklin's bullets struck the Golem but couldn't tear it apart mid-air.
Instead, the Golem raised a massive stone fist as it fell.
BOOM!
The impact shook the desert like an earthquake. A massive dust cloud rose, obscuring everything.
By the time the dust settled, the Golem was just a pile of rubble.
And Ronin was gone, soaring high above the clouds, far beyond their reach.
