Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Nisha’s Vague Affection

Hilltop Manor.

The super vampire Faith sat in the living room, lazily smoking a cigarette, one hand resting on the head of another trembling female vampire.

"How many people are here?" he asked coldly.

"No one came," Quinn replied timidly.

Once, Quinn had been confident. But after having his arm chopped off by Blade and later being captured by S.H.I.E.L.D., his courage had completely vanished. If he weren't still useful, Faith would have disposed of him long ago.

"What! Are they not afraid of me?"

Faith blew out a smoke ring, his eyes flashing with fury. He commanded nearly twenty thousand vampires and had already slaughtered a medium-sized clan as a warning. So why weren't the human tycoons afraid of him? Was it really so difficult to submit to the Vampire King?

Of course they're not afraid of your mother. Your mother turned to ashes long ago! Quinn thought bitterly but didn't dare to say it aloud—unless he wanted to end up cremated himself.

"Boss, maybe your reputation as a villain isn't enough. Why not find a few famous people and kill them to make a statement?" Quinn suggested cautiously.

Bang!

Faith slapped him so hard that Quinn flew backward, spun in midair, and crashed to the ground. His face was swollen red.

"You make a lot of sense!" Faith barked.

You hit me even though I made sense?! Quinn cried silently. Living with this boss felt like living beside a tiger—terrifying and unpredictable.

Faith's attention turned to the TV screen showing Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. He smirked.

"Those two will do just fine."

In his mind, Blade was already crippled and no longer a threat. Now, Faith planned to use the heads of Iron Man and Captain America as his new trophies.

But just as he was feeling proud of himself, the window shattered. A special ultraviolet bullet zipped through the air and hit the nearby female vampire.

Bang!

She exploded into ash on the spot.

A shield smashed through next, slamming Faith across the room.

When he got up, he saw a tall, broad-shouldered man catch the shield.

"Captain America!" Faith shouted.

His astonishment quickly turned into excitement. "So, you've come to me yourself!"

Faith lunged forward, his nails extending into sharp claws.

Bang!

A single punch sent him flying even faster than before.

At that moment, Tony Stark landed beside Captain America in his Iron Man suit, trapping Quinn inside a special containment cage.

"Kill the other vampires. Leave Faith to me," Steve Rogers ordered.

Then he charged forward, spun midair, and delivered a perfect whip kick that sent Faith crashing into a wall.

The cleanup operation had begun.

At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Nick Fury was watching the combat feed closely.

On the outskirts of the battlefield, vampire princess Nisha and her bodyguard Wei Lian observed the fight through binoculars.

Nisha's mission tonight was to capture Faith alive and bring him back to the fortress for trial. She had tried before—but Faith had been far too powerful. Even when cut in half, he'd regenerated almost instantly.

Such regeneration was unheard of among vampires. Only through her subordinates' desperate defense had Nisha managed to escape alive.

She'd seen many strange things in her long life—but never something this strange.

Steve Rogers had once told her to call him if she couldn't handle Faith. At the time, she hadn't taken him seriously. Now, she understood just how necessary his help was.

Through the binoculars, Nisha watched as Steve punched vampires aside and sent Faith flying with blow after blow.

A soft mist clouded her eyes. Who wouldn't be drawn to a strong, invincible man?

Even though Steve already had three wives, that didn't bother Nisha. In her world, it was normal for a powerful man to have several partners.

If your health is weak, stick to one. If your strength is good, why not more? she mused.

Wei Lian, limping slightly from a previous "incident," muttered, "Your Highness, can Captain Rogers really capture Faith alive?"

"He should be fine," Nisha said, her gaze lingering on Steve. He looked even stronger than before.

Without her past failure, she wouldn't have realized how powerful Steve truly was. Now, her admiration—and faint affection—for him grew deeper. If she could keep working with him and stay in his good graces, perhaps becoming his girlfriend wouldn't be impossible.

"That's enough!" Faith roared, his forehead cracked and bleeding before it healed again. "I am the Vampire King, chosen by the Blood God! Kneel before me, mortal!"

Steve grabbed him by the leg and slammed him into the floor—again and again, like a rag doll.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The entire building shook.

The Blade Warriors nearby paused, stunned.

I thought the gap between me and Captain America was small, one of them thought. Turns out, it's astronomical!

With the Super Soldier Serum, martial arts training from Kamar-Taj, and combat techniques rivaling the Ten Rings, Steve Rogers was practically unstoppable.

He pummeled Faith relentlessly—break, repair, break again.

Each punch carried the force of two hundred kilograms; with his internal energy boosting it, that power rose to over a ton.

Still, Steve held back. His mission was to capture Faith alive, not destroy him.

Faith's regeneration consumed his energy with every repair. The longer the fight went on, the weaker he became. There was no such thing as absolute immortality—only enemies who hadn't yet found your weakness.

After five grueling minutes, Steve's final blow shattered every bone in Faith's body. He twisted and locked metal bars around him, binding him completely.

It resembled the moment in Days of Future Past when Magneto impaled Wolverine with steel rods.

Holding the half-dead vampire in one hand, Steve summoned his motorcycle and sped away.

"Captain, what are you doing?" Fury demanded through the comms.

"It's an order from the Secretary-General—to hand Faith over to the corporate alliance," Steve replied calmly.

He casually invoked the name of Alexander Pierce.

After all, it was only fair for a leader to take responsibility for his subordinate's actions.

Pierce: I was sitting at home, and somehow, the blame found me anyway!
