Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Recruit Spider-Man to Make Money

It's common knowledge in S.H.I.E.L.D. that Captain America doesn't really stick to his official duties and often slacks off at work.

However, the special forces team that works with him always gives him glowing reviews. Not only do they not complain, but they admire him deeply.

The higher-ups don't care and don't stop him, so what can anyone else say?

"Steve, I feel like you're up to something behind my back. Blade, don't you think so?"

Tony Stark had just been beaten badly by the Fire Demon, but Captain America had gone off on his own and solved the flour case.

Looking at the boxes stacked nearby, there must have been at least one or two thousand kilograms of flour.

That much? If this isn't a major operation, then what is?

"Don't talk nonsense. The Captain is my idol—he's just doing his duty," Blade replied.

He liked wearing sunglasses to look cool, but no matter how much he showed off, he truly admired Captain America in his heart.

It's not a big deal—just that whenever the Captain is around, he feels unstoppable. That's the charm of a leader!

Tony wanted to say, "What, are you dreaming of the plantation days?" but he held it back. If he said that, Blade would probably punch him. He wasn't afraid, but there was no point.

"Tony, how's it going over there? Did the Ghost Rider leave?"

Steve checked the time—it was almost time to head back.

He'd promised to spend the night at Maria Hill's place. Just thinking about her cool, elegant demeanor and that stunning bikini of hers made him feel like standing at attention in salute.

"It's fine. The guy ran off, said as long as his girlfriend's happy, he's good. I'm wondering—did you steal his girlfriend or something?"

Tony was deliberately trying to bait Steve.

Blade perked up his ears immediately. Gossip? Who could resist that?

"If that were true, don't you think he'd come after me with everything he's got?" Steve replied casually. "Man, I know you don't have a girlfriend—and that's okay.

My girlfriend's not great either. She can't even last two hours at a time."

Steve patted Tony's shoulder, looking embarrassed and troubled.

Tony, Charles, and Blade all froze.

Two hours?

You're kidding, right?

Did you take something?

After Steve left, the special forces team followed orders to take down the Rockefeller family's White Glove Gang.

You can't just show up and not complete a mission.

The Captain saves the beauty, and the team handles the dirty work. Otherwise, what's the point of having them?

"Two hours, huh? You buy that?" Charles asked, slightly dazed.

"Only two hours? I usually go three," Tony said smugly. "Actually, I just had an idea—I need to get back to work."

He might've lost the argument, but not his pride. No man would admit to being inferior. With that, Tony ran off.

Charles turned to Blade.

"What? Why are you looking at me? I've got a girlfriend. Do you?"

Blade wasn't Professor X, but the glare he gave was answer enough.

Charles: ???

Alright, fine. Discrimination against singles—it's real.

Meanwhile, the military had been secretly capturing mutants for experimentation.

Judging from what Polaris said, there might be a mutant organization behind her.

But what did that have to do with Steve Rogers?

At that moment, Maria Hill appeared in a dark purple bikini, her fair skin glowing, crystal sandals accentuating her long legs.

Her hair was down, bangs half-covering her face. Bright lipstick, a teasing smile—she leaned against the bedroom door and beckoned him closer.

Life goes on. The fight never ends.

When the morning sun rose, it was time for work again.

Hill, now too exhausted to move, decided to work from home. She could barely walk straight, holding onto the wall just to reach the bathroom.

Downstairs in the apartment building, noises came from the utility room.

The receptionist frowned. Was someone playing tricks again?

The next moment, Peter Parker stumbled out with a pizza box in hand, knocking over a mop and broom in the process.

He looked a little embarrassed but quickly picked everything up.

"Ma'am, your pizza delivery," he said politely.

The receptionist checked the clock—it was a little after nine. She blew a bubble with her gum and looked him over.

"You're late. I'm not paying."

Peter's eyes showed helplessness, confusion, and disappointment.

Rules were rules—late deliveries don't get paid.

That meant he'd probably be fired when he got back.

Even though he'd saved two children on the way here, no one knew that he was Spider-Man.

Just then, Steve walked into the lobby.

"Captain, your pizza's here—but the delivery guy's late," the receptionist said, instantly switching to a sweet, flattering tone.

Steve nodded politely. "Thanks for your hard work."

When he walked out, he spotted Peter leaving in disappointment.

He followed and patted him on the shoulder—only for Peter to instantly react, grabbing his wrist.

The Spider-Sense really lived up to its name.

"Ah—you're... Captain America!" Peter quickly let go, startled but excited.

"Hey, Peter. I heard from Roxanne that you often take pictures of Spider-Man for the newspaper, right?"

Steve smiled warmly. The young man before him was genuine—a hero and an ordinary person all at once.

He still had to work for his meals. Without a Tony Stark as a father, life wasn't easy.

"Yes, that's right," Peter said shyly. The last time he'd met Steve was during the bridge fight with the Green Goblin.

"I'm planning to make my own movie," Steve continued. "I need a lighting technician, someone who can take photos and design posters. You good with computers?"

"Yes! I can do that!" Peter replied quickly, excitement rising.

Captain America wanted his help? That was huge!

"Wait—you mean you're making a solo movie?"

"Yeah," Steve said with a grin. "Come with me. I'll need your help with a few things—and don't worry, I'll pay you. Don't refuse; I can't find anyone else right now."

Helping Peter wasn't a big deal for him. It was just giving a hand—or giving him a bit of money.

Not that Steve himself wasn't short on cash.

His wages and allowances—over twenty million—were all in Hill's hands.

His Stark Industries dividends were managed by Pepper.

Sharon had gotten extra money from the Rockefeller family and Hydra's assets.

Steve? He barely had any spending money and often had to borrow from Nissa.

But that's not called living off women.

That's called loving your wife.

Making a movie was his way of boosting his reputation—building a stronger, cleaner image.

So that, in the future, if anyone tried to slander him, he wouldn't need to defend himself.

His loyal fans would do it for him!
