"Kick them out then. It's not like everyone in the National Team got in purely by strength," Mu Nianbing said casually.
For example, someone like Zu Jiming—did he really deserve to be part of the National Team? It only showed how questionable the selection process truly was.
Feng Li's eyelids twitched slightly.
"You say it so easily. I can't just remove people at will. Even I have restrictions."
Although he was the team's instructor, Feng Li's authority was limited. One wrong move, and he could lose his position.
"Forget it, it's no use debating this with you," Feng Li finally said. "I can let Mu Ningxue stay, but only as a substitute."
He had looked into Mu Nianbing's background.
The young man had contributed greatly to the nation—but he was also impulsive, even injuring Imperial Capital Academy students during a dispute.
His strength was unquestionable, but his temperament still needed refining.
"Substitute?" Mu Nianbing frowned slightly. Asking for a core position right away was unrealistic.
Even if he wanted to, speaking directly with the Grand Speaker was far beyond his current reach.
Still, with Mu Ningxue's power, she wouldn't be left behind for long. Substitute or not didn't matter much.
At that moment, Mu Ningxue gently tugged at Mu Nianbing's sleeve.
"Alright then," he said with a faint smirk. "An Advanced Mage as a substitute—let's see if those full members can live with that."
Feng Li sighed inwardly. With Mu Nianbing's personality, he could already predict a few headaches in the coming days.
He had initially wanted to test Mu Ningxue's strength, but the overcrowded training field forced him to postpone it.
After their discussion, Mu Nianbing took Mu Ningxue back to the Mu Family villa.
Inside the villa, the heavy atmosphere between the two finally gave way to a rare moment of peace.
Mu Nianbing gently brushed a strand of hair from Mu Ningxue's face.
She had always appeared so distant, yet when her eyes met his, there was only quiet determination—and something far more tender.
Since their hearts had connected, Mu Ningxue had begun to show a side few ever saw. Beneath her icy calmness was a warmth she revealed only to him.
The two stayed in the villa for a few days, taking time to rest before their move to the Demon Capital.
During this time, Mu Zhuoyun had already started preparing to relocate the entire family.
Most of the assets that couldn't be taken were sold, leaving only the old villa behind—it was too remote for anyone else to want it.
"Nianbing, long time no see," said a cheerful voice.
A young man around thirty approached with an easy smile.
"Cousin Mu Linsheng?" Mu Nianbing blinked before recognizing him. It had been years since they'd last met.
"Nianbing, when I heard the news about you, I didn't believe it at first. But once I confirmed it with Uncle, I was thrilled!" Linsheng laughed, throwing an arm around his cousin's shoulder.
"Don't be so dramatic," Mu Nianbing said dryly, stepping slightly aside.
Soon, several Mu Family members gathered in the hall, ready to move.
Their lives in the Imperial Capital hadn't been easy, and with Mu Nianbing now standing tall as their pillar, they felt renewed hope about rebuilding in the Demon Capital.
When Mu Linsheng noticed Mu Ningxue standing quietly beside Mu Nianbing, a knowing smile appeared on his face.
"I see… I was interrupting, wasn't I?" he teased.
Mu Nianbing rolled his eyes.
Linsheng wasn't talented in magic, but his business skills were exceptional—a talent that would be indispensable once they began establishing their own organization.
After moving to the Demon Capital, Mu Nianbing transferred fifty million to Mu Zhuoyun—enough to rent temporary housing for the family.
Buying property now would only drain resources they needed for future development.
For now, establishing a force was out of the question.
The land near Feiniao City was still expensive, and they lacked the manpower to build and defend a stronghold.
He and Mu Ningxue would soon participate in the World School Tournament, so any major plans would have to wait until after it ended.
Mu Zhuoyun led the others to settle in temporary housing, while Mu Nianbing took Mu Ningxue to his own apartment.
Conveniently, two rooms were still empty, and she could pick one freely.
On the way, Mu Ningxue glanced at him, her tone deceptively calm.
"Does Ye Xinxia live with you too?"
"She does," Mu Nianbing replied earnestly. "Her legs aren't strong, so I stay with her to take care of her."
"Heh…" Mu Ningxue gave him a sidelong look, clearly unconvinced—but she said nothing more.
The light in her eyes, however, carried a quiet challenge.
