She smiled slightly.
"Thank you. You sound just like my mum, she would have said the same thing."
She could see Weijie's expressions clearly, a mix of anticipation and fear.
Grabbing his hand gently, she smiled giving him the approving nod he was looking for.
"I'm ready.." she whispered, more to herself than to Weijie. "I think."
Weijie knelt before her, his large hand resting on her knee and the other holding her hand tightly.
The movement was so natural it startled her.
This man who never bowed to anyone, who stood straight even before elders, who met every gaze head-on as though daring the world to challenge him, now lowered himself onto one knee like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"I'm nothing but an ordinary man, who was lucky enough to meet you. I have neither gold nor precious gems to give you. But my heart, my life, my entire being…I give it all to you."
His thumb tightened unconsciously around her hand.
