Although Broly would not officially appear for more than a decade in the movie timeline, who could guarantee that he wasn't already at a Super Saiyan 4 level of strength now?

Gohan told Goten and the others to train on their own, saying he had something important to handle.
Somewhere in the universe, on a planet with an extremely harsh environment, a thirteen- or fourteen-year-old boy walked across land ravaged by violent winds.
It was Gohan.
The planet was Vampa, the world where Broly had been exiled.
"It seems Broly's strength may be connected to the harsh environment of this planet!"
Gohan glanced around thoughtfully.
Then he took out the Heaven-Reaching Mirror.
Through the mirror, he saw a Saiyan who strongly resembled Vegeta.
The man's name was Reg, a character from the fan-made Dragon Ball: New Age. He was said to be Vegeta's older brother, born with a battle power of 50,000.
According to the story, King Vegeta had feared Reg might threaten his position, so he exiled him to Planet Bumbin.
The Reg Gohan saw now belonged to this timeline. The Reg from Dragon Ball: New Age existed after the end of GT, meaning there was at least a twenty-year age difference between them.
Although still young, Reg possessed extraordinarily pure Saiyan blood, much like Broly. Otherwise, he would never have achieved Super Saiyan 5 without extreme training.
Originally, Gohan had planned to confront Broly himself. But after thinking it through, Broly's strength was uncertain. It would be safer to test him first.
Broly's father, Paragus, hated King Vegeta. If not for him, they would not have been stranded on Vampa for decades.
That was why Gohan decided to bring Reg here.
At first, Gohan was unsure whether Reg even existed in this world, since he originated from a fan work.
Fortunately, the Heaven-Reaching Mirror could locate anyone who existed in this timeline. If it could not find someone, that meant they did not exist here.
"I wonder which of the two is stronger!"
Gohan stared at Reg in the mirror, then cast the Invisibility Technique on himself.
Reaching through the mirror, he grabbed Reg and pulled him directly to Vampa.
Since Gohan was invisible, Reg had no idea what happened before suddenly finding himself standing in a storm-ravaged wasteland.
"W-where is this place?"
Reg looked around in confusion. One moment he had been relaxing, and the next he was on this desolate planet.
After a brief pause, he flew off in a random direction.
He quickly realized that not only was survival here difficult, but terrifying creatures roamed the land.
Of course, none of them posed a threat to him.
After flying for some time, Reg suddenly noticed a tall, muscular young man fighting several rabbit-sized spider-like creatures.
It was Broly.
"A Saiyan!"
Seeing Broly's tail, Reg immediately descended.
Just as Broly finished defeating the creatures, he turned toward the approaching Reg.
"Who are you?"
"Hello, my name is Reg. Can you tell me where this place is?"
"This is Vampa!" Broly replied simply.
"Isn't this the planet with an extremely harsh environment?"
Broly nodded.
"Then what's your name, and why are you here?"
"Broly!"
Before he could say more, a voice shouted from afar.
"Broly!"
Reg looked over and saw a middle-aged Saiyan with a slight limp approaching.
It was Paragus.
"Ve… Vegeta!"
Paragus mistook Reg for Vegeta at first glance.
"Vegeta?"
Reg had been exiled before Vegeta was born, so he knew nothing of having a younger brother.
However, the name was similar to King Vegeta's, so he assumed there was some confusion.
Moments later, Paragus arrived beside Broly.
"Father!" Broly nodded respectfully.
Paragus then looked at Reg carefully.
"Broly, who is he?"
"He said his name is Reg. I just met him!"
"Reg?" Paragus was visibly shocked.
As one of King Vegeta's former subordinates, he had heard of Reg. Reg was King Vegeta's eldest son, exiled to Planet Bumbin for unknown reasons.
Although Planet Bumbin had no inhabitants, its environment was relatively livable. King Vegeta had even exiled a female Saiyan there so Reg could produce descendants.
Her name was Supari, Reg's wife.
"You know me?" Reg asked, noticing Paragus's reaction.
Paragus nodded slowly.
"I once served under your father."
"Really? Then why are you two here?"
Paragus's expression turned bitter.
"We have your father to thank for that!"
"My father?"
"Yes. Broly was born with a battle power of 10,000. Your father feared he might surpass him one day, so he exiled him to this planet. I was trapped here as well when I tried to save him!"
"Ten thousand battle power?" Reg's eyes widened slightly.
Paragus nodded heavily.
