Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Smartphone

Earth, Mount Paozu.

Goku and Piccolo were sparring high in the sky.

Down below, Gohan sat alone on the grass, bored after his daily training.

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and pulled out an ancient mirror from the system.

This was the All-Seeing Mirror.

As soon as Gohan activated it, three figures appeared on the mirror's surface.

One of them was short, with blue skin and a small round hat perched on his head.

It was Pilaf—the villain from the earliest days of Dragon Ball.

The other two were his loyal subordinates, Shu and Mai.

At the moment, the three of them were busy assembling a battle robot.

Although Pilaf had failed countless times to collect all seven Dragon Balls, he had never given up on his dream of world domination.

After confirming their identities, Gohan reached out and touched the mirror.

In the next instant, he vanished.

"Who… Who are you?!"

Pilaf and his subordinates jumped in fright as Gohan suddenly appeared before them.

Gohan smiled politely. "My name is Son Gohan."

"Son Gohan… that name sounds familiar!"

"Yeah," Shu muttered, rubbing his chin. "It sounds a lot like Son Goku!"

"Son… Son Goku?!"

Pilaf and the others instantly turned pale.

Goku was their lifelong nightmare. If not for him, they would have ruled the world long ago.

"You know my dad?" Gohan asked curiously.

"Y-Your dad?!"

The three of them subconsciously took several steps back.

"Yeah," Gohan said casually, walking over to the robot. "Did you build this?"

"…Yes," Pilaf answered stiffly.

"Then what are you making robots for?"

"N-Nothing! Just for fun!" Pilaf laughed awkwardly.

"Right, just for fun," Mai quickly echoed.

"Is that so?" Gohan nodded. "Then can you make a phone for me?"

"A phone?"

"Yes."

Gohan picked up a piece of paper and quickly sketched a smartphone.

Because Dragon Ball was created in the '80s and '90s, phones in this world were still very primitive. Smartphones wouldn't appear until much later.

"What kind of phone is this?" Pilaf frowned. "Why doesn't it even have buttons?"

"This is called a smartphone."

"A smartphone?"

"That's right. It's operated entirely by touch, so it doesn't need buttons."

"Touchscreen…?"

Gohan nodded.

"By the way, we've been talking for a while, but I still don't know your names."

"I'm Pilaf!"

"I'm Mai—that Mai!"

"I'm Shu—the Shu who fixes air conditioners!"

"Pilaf, Shu, and Sister Mai," Gohan said cheerfully.

"Hey! Why do you call Mai 'Sister' but call us by our names?" Pilaf snapped.

Gohan tilted his head. "You're about my height, so I thought you were kids too."

"What did you say?!" Pilaf nearly exploded with rage.

"Calm down, Lord Pilaf!" Shu and Mai hurriedly restrained him.

"That's right, he's just a kid," Mai added. "Don't argue with him."

"Hmph!"

Pilaf snorted and fell silent.

"Alright then," Gohan said. "Let's get back to the phone."

"The phone…?"

"Yes. Besides the touchscreen, it also has Bluetooth, GPS positioning, and can connect to the internet."

Gohan went on enthusiastically, explaining the various functions and applications of smartphones.

At first, Pilaf only planned to humor Gohan.

But the more he listened, the more his eyes lit up.

If this thing really worked, the business potential would be enormous.

The only issue was that they had never built anything like it before—it would take a lot of time.

"We can try to make it," Shu said cautiously, "but what about the mobile network?"

"Don't worry," Gohan replied. "I'll ask Aunt Bulma for help."

"Bulma… the heir of Capsule Corporation?" Mai asked.

"That's right," Gohan nodded. "Well then, good luck. I'll be going."

"Mmm," Pilaf nodded eagerly.

He desperately wanted Gohan gone.

With a flash of Instant Transmission, Gohan disappeared.

"He… He's gone!" Shu exclaimed.

Mai nodded. "So, Lord Pilaf… do we really have to make a smartphone for that kid?"

"Mmm," Pilaf replied seriously.

"Then are we still searching for the Dragon Balls?" Shu asked.

"Of course we are!" Pilaf snapped, smacking Shu on the head.

"If we make a fortune with smartphones, we'll have plenty of money to search for the Dragon Balls later!"

West City, Bulma's house.

Bulma was lounging in the backyard, reading a newspaper, when a figure suddenly appeared in front of her.

"Aunt Bulma!"

Bulma lowered the paper in surprise.

"Gohan!"

Gohan smiled and nodded.

"Why did you suddenly come by today?" Bulma asked.

"I want you to help me upgrade the Gravity Chamber to five hundred times gravity."

"F-Five hundred times?!" Bulma nearly dropped the newspaper.

"But Gohan, I just upgraded it to three hundred times not long ago!"

"It's fine," Gohan said confidently. "I've already adapted to three hundred times."

Bulma gave him a strange look.

"Didn't your mom want you to focus on studying? She's not forcing you anymore?"

Gohan laughed awkwardly.

She really knew how to hit a sore spot.

"No… I have a clone studying at home for me."

"A clone?"

"Yes."

Gohan pulled out a strand of hair and transformed it into another Gohan.

"T-two Gohans?!" Bulma stared in shock.

"That's my clone," Gohan explained.

"Then… can this clone do everything for you?" Bulma asked curiously.

"Yes, but it has one drawback."

"A drawback?"

"It doesn't need to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom like normal people."

"…"

Bulma fell completely silent.

That's not a drawback—that's a superpower.

Then a thought struck her.

If Chi-Chi were feeding that clone every day…

Wouldn't it be discovered sooner or later?
