"This monocle? Hmm? Well, I don't really remember how it got here," Ren admitted.
He stepped forward and picked up the monocle, then put it over his eye. Afterwards, he shook his head.
"I can tell that it has a bunch of energy in it, but I'm not really sure what the purpose of it is. If anything, it's just a trash item that must've gotten mixed up with the rest of the artifacts and charms."
Trash?
Well....
I didn't think of it as trash.
Just because he didn't know what it was, I was positive that there was someone who had purposefully placed this monocle here in the first place.
For that reason, and because I had nothing else I urgently wanted, I decided to just smile and reach for the monocle. Once I put it over my right eye, I nodded at him.
"This'll do just fine."
Ren's brow twitched.
"I feel bad giving you something like that. Would you think of me as a good teacher if I gave you something useless?"
I shrugged.
"It's fine."
