BAM!
Robert tossed the pen away before slamming his hand against the desk. The loud noise was a sharp crack breaking through the frosty quiet of the office.
"You dare lecture me about mistakes?" he growled, eyes cold with sizzling fury. "Are you even certain your treasured disciple is performing correctly? Or has she found new ways to betray you again?"
Henry's expression shifted slightly. Tightening his jaw, the creases at the corner of his eyes deepened. He clenched his hands behind his back.
No one else in Genesis dared speak of Miranda with such sharpness and contempt. Robert was the sole exception, both because of his authority and because he didn't fear Henry.
"Miranda knows what happens once she strays again," Henry spoke calmly, but the tension in his gaze had betrayed him. "I have no reason to doubt her after the consequences she tasted four years ago."
